    Laurent Ferrier have a liquid beauty about their designs. Beautiful curves, lovely play of light across the dials, gorgeous movements with wonderful finishing. Dare I say I find them more interesting & beautiful than Patek’s Caletravas.

      Hi Alison, Laurent Ferrier being a multiple GPHG award winner and one watchmaker with such a solid background (most of which at Patek Philippe's), you can certainly dare the analogy and comparison. Very valid point.

    I like that you are adding more Independents to your collection, well done. You should look into a Czapek Antactique before its too late. Flying under the radar now but not for too long.

      Agreed, Czapek is another independent that is doing great things, without a doubt.

    Mate, your collection is getting better. LF collates the best parts and assemble them into their watches with a bit of twerking. The quality of the craftsmanship is high end. The gold version of the galet square is one of my grails. Brilliant buy and brilliant independent. Congratulations on your new watch

    Independents are the way forward. Independent watches will be the star of the show at auction houses in years to come. It's because the production is very low even compared to FP Journe or PP. Try to purchase defour or arkriva and watch you investment grow.

      We are witnessing the Picasso, Dali, Pollock, Warhol of watchmaking at work. They will be in the history books for centuries.

    Very nice. Looks-wise, it reminds me a lot of the Fears Brunswick range, which is obviously a different price point.

    • @thelimitededition
      @thelimitededition Před 3 lety +1

      Fears are doing lovely things. The difference, if not in the look, has to be found in how is made. Fears uses different suppliers to offer the best value at the clever price positioning. LF has an approach of fully integrated manufacturing at the highest standards, which has gained them Awards (such as the Grand Prix de l'Horologerie) and respect by the top collectors worldwide. When you look at a Patek Calatrava for example, there are hundreds of round watches looking pretty similar from the design standpoint, but they don't all offer the same quality. In watchmaking it is often about 'how it is made', rather than 'how it looks'. Thanks. Pietro.

    If there is a criticism that could be leveled at Laurent Ferrier it's their designs aren't the most ground breaking (if I were to be playing devils advocate that is). The standard of execution, however, completely makes up for that and propels this LF into the stratosphere.

    • @thelimitededition
      @thelimitededition Před 3 lety +2

      Laurent Ferrier is a master of the classics. Like Philippe Dufour, he believes in the purity of lines and shapes. Being the person who 'translated' Gerald Genta design into a real product (the Nautilus), he has always aimed at creating timeless designs. Thanks. Pietro.

    The problem with these small independents is if they go out of business and your complicated watch can no longer be serviced.

    • @thelimitededition
      @thelimitededition Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Nom, that is a valid point but not necessarily accurate. Mainstream brands have the same likelihood to go out of business, as considering the large groups, typically only a fraction of the brands included in these big corporations is profitable. In indie watchmaking, there is a community at the service of any client who has bought a timepiece of a brand gone out of business. An example for all, HYT is currently out of business and both Preciflex (for the liquid modules) and Jean-Francois Mojon (for the mechanical module) are ensuring repairs and service. Another example is Romain Jerome, where Agenhor is guaranteeing service for the pieces equipped with their movements. No one in the industry has an interest in leaving customers out of service, so there is always a supplier or a sister company ensuring that aspect. Moreover, if the independent watchmaker is part of the AHCI, any of the members will always look at viable solutions to ensure service and maintenance of any of the peers' timepieces. Besides, independent watchmakers normally build their mechanics for posterity (like the classic watchmakers from two, three centuries ago), so they conceive their pieces to be serviced and looked after easily for centuries to come, by any seriously skilled watchmaker. If you have any doubts please do get in touch. Pietro.

    Love LF, but the packeging is crap...
    For a watch way over 25k EUR, this is pretty disappointing!😕

      I was thinking the same thing. Very average packaging.

    • @thelimitededition
      @thelimitededition Před 3 lety

      The packaging is minimalistic, perfectly in style with the man behind the brand. He would not appreciate show off bulky boxes, so he went for a subdued but beautifully made travel box. Like it or not, it is in line with the watchmaker's personality. Have you ever seen a Philippe Dufour box? Another good example of zero efffort to try to impress the customer with anything besides watchmaking.

    • @WatchTheFuck
      @WatchTheFuck Před 3 lety

      @@thelimitededition and another great example of saving on the wrong end...
      I get your point, that the focus is on the watch, BUT this is the experience your customer will have at first sight.
      Take Bentley as an example, they also place the knurling on the back of the door opener, because it's the last part you interact with the car and THIS is 100% premium.
      And you would also imply with your words, that PP (who present their watches in gorgeous boxes) are not focusing 100% on the watch itself, but they do.

    • @remarkable99
      @remarkable99 Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not sure. I mean, I don't disagree that the packaging is uninspiring... but then again, for me, Rolex packaging looks not only cheap, but actively ugly. I'd describe the packaging on this watch as bad, but not as bad as Rolex. In the end though, it's all subjective.
