My SD is four years old with 270 hours. Power belt came off and would not stay on when reinstalled. Watched a Utube on hydro pump bolts breaking and causing this to occur. That was exactly the problem and now it is at the dealers for repair. Mower built in or before 2017 will likely have this problem. Manufacture failure which should have been recalled and retro fitted. Now it’s out of warranty so costly repair. Beware of SD’s built before 2018!

I recently purchased an Ariens Ikon 52. I checked out this video just to see if there was anything I should watch for. I only have seven hours right now and we're in a drought so it'll be next spring before I start accumulating hours. We'll see.

I’ve got the same model and year. No problems other than the discharge chute kept plugging up. My 4” grinder took care of that by cutting off the bottom bar. It’s been a great mower so far. 150+hrs.

We have the same exact mower, same engine (but I have a different air cleaner?!). Keep an eye for all the bolts that go into each trans. They will come loose. I've lost one nut and tighten them from time to time. Keep the blades sharp (stupid sharp) and the deck sprayed w/something like Tite-Seal MDS11/6 Mower Deck Spray and Protectant or such (I've used quite a few different ones but am testing that one now) and you'll not have too much issues with clogging. And cutting wet grass. Have a look at COPPERHEAD MULCHER BLADE 18-1/2" X 5/8" HUSTLER
Item #13810 (same as G6 gator blades), or Rotary 12733 (same as G5) for the 'not as wide as the 13810' version. - The little fins go in the opposite direction and help blow the grass out farther. 500 hours and counting.

I just bought a fasttreck 54 inch.. first o turn mower.. man I will never go back to a regular mower. I cut my grass just for the fun of it now. Ever since I got my more I been cutting the grass grass every outher day. My yard looks like the presidential a golf course. People driving by hang there heads out and dull. I wonder 🤔 if it's possible to kill a persons grass by mowing it to much. I don't know but I'm going to find out. I've put 10 hours on my new mower and I've cut my yard 10 times. My yard growers about 1/4 inch a day if we get a little rain.

I own the exact same machines as you. Hustler SD Raptor and John Deere D140. Beyond the fact that the John Deere mower is a piece of crap that had the transaxle fail completely at 100 hours, our Hustler will run circles around it all day long. Not even a fair comparison in my opinion. I own an entire yard full of John Deere agriculture equipment but I will never purchase another piece of John Deere yard and garden equipment.

Its unfortunate that you are having issues. If it is mechanical failure within the motor then that is an issue outside of Hustler. They generally use Kawasaki or Kohler motors for their mowers, which are not made by them and are on many brands of mowers. Hope you get your issue figured out!

I’ve had 3 hustler ZTRs in recent years. They get worse with every new model. Had the hydro-drive brackets replaced, cracked fenders, severe vibration noise etc etc, etc. I have found that Hustler will work with you until they decide not to. My case was escalated to Nick (Sr. product representative). After failed attempts at a repair, Nick would not return any phone calls. The case was then escalated to the next level (Ken Coker). Ken provides nothing more than lip service. He did call me once. When I provided video proof of the complaint, he failed to ever contact me again. The mower is still under warranty, the dealer will not do anything more and tells me that Hustler will not do anything more. I would never touch another Hustler mower, ever. Hustler will not honor the warranty if it is not a very simple problem. Either they don't know, or don't care about fixing a customer's mower.
