    Just did this repair over Memorial weekend! My only suggestion is to put the new bearings in freezer prior to installation, the cold shrinks them to the point you can use your thumb to press them in sometimes! Also you need a Spring puller to pull those springs out and install them back! I cleaned deck and applied cosmoline to underside and it drys fast and helps grass slip right off!

    Hustlers fix for that leaning pulley is a very thick body style flat washer added to the underside. The bolt may have been a bit longer, don’t remember. Adding the zerk fitting is a good idea as it keeps the bearings cooler

    I replaced one set of spindles on my raptor, SD one time that old set of spindles I took to a machine shop and had them deepn the pocket so I could run a double row bearing top and bottom which makes the mower so much quieter and the bearings last a lot longer. The bearings that I put in it are 5205-2 Z double row angular shielded bearings. If you guys choose to do it, make sure you order the bearings before you take them to the machine shop so they know exactly how much to cut. you don’t need to replace your idler pulleys either if you get bearing 6203z you can heat up the flange on the idler bearing use a pair of vise grips and bend the edge back and then pull out and replace your bearings

      Ok since the factory bearings don't come with lot of grease,I took off the seals and put in the red high temp grease with hopes it will last longer . I haven't install them yet. Anyone do that here

    The battery cable to the starter motor is not HOT until you turn on the key to start the motor.

    • @RayofallTrades
      @RayofallTrades  Před 14 dny

      Correct. The cable to battery is hot then the solenoid gets triggered with the ignition switch which activates the solenoid plunger applying power to the starter. Unless the starter has the solenoid attached, then the power is available at the starter all the time.

  • @sherrischneider2794
    @sherrischneider2794 Před rokem +3

    The wire to the starter is not hot until the solenoid is engaged. The starter is the new part that replaces the bad starter. There on the third model for replacement.

    • @RayofallTrades
      @RayofallTrades  Před rokem

      That is correct. This type of starter uses an external solenoid that is hot on ignition start. Thanks for watching

    I've got the same mower and just replaced all 3 spindles, tensioner idler pulley, both springs, and both belts. It's a totally different mower.
    I got the spindles off Amazon for $60 and they're made very well.
    Thanks for the video.

  • @philliphall5198
    @philliphall5198 Před měsícem +1

    It’s way cheaper to just replace the bearing if blade connections ok
    If not then replace them and keep old one for parts

    I ran across your post, i have the same mower and am in need of the same service.
    Thanks for the post. It helps me determine what parts i need and dont need. It seems my deck is a bit noisy when engaging the blades. The spring, i think, must be the issue. The starter drags a bit, but I'm not sure if I'll change that out yet. Oh, my middle blade is completely bent 90 degrees down. i don't know how it's working like that.

    • @RayofallTrades
      @RayofallTrades  Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you and good luck! Some people paint the underside of the deck when it’s apart to make it last longer too

    • @chairrider2462
      @chairrider2462 Před 4 dny

      If it is bent that bad it is also no longer in balance. Please change that blade soon! The asymmetrical forces as it spins will wear out other stuff.
