Squirrels in your yard be carrying switch blades! You shut it off for a moment and they seized that moment! ;-) I have a 14 year old Fastrak 36". Baby brother to your unit. Changed the belt last week as it showed wear after 14 years use. It probably could have made it thru the summer, but I'm a retired mechanic. I like taking care of my gear. If you release that chain link tensioner under the floor that is on top of the deck, it makes it easy to get the new belt on! Did mine for the first time in about 20 minutes! Love these machines.
So glad i thought to look up videos today when i went to see what happened to mower almost gave an thought just have to wait till Monday a call for pick up an service an wait till mower returns. Seem belt came off as well tensioner slip an was laying on top of deck as chain.got it back together in much time an mowing. Thank YOU 👍 world needs more

Thanks, nice to see the belt replacement. I did a full tune up on mine, oil/filter/plugs/air filter/fuel filter/and even valve lashing... then 10 minutes into the first mow my transmission belt failed! So I will have to take off the blade belt first since it's lower on the motor spindle.
O MY take the spring tension loose put the belt on then take some vice grips clamp down on the chain and pull tight and drop the chain in the slot done
Curious, if you were doing virtually all service, why you didn't replace the drive belt at the same time? Also, I NEVER change blades with bare hands.. wear GLOVES. Blades can SLICE the hands quick!!

The belt guide is missing from the tensioner pulley. Hustler part number 121780.

Ya junk for 70 dollars.Mine was like that but wasn't broke it would not stay on,i figured it was streched,a new one worked fine.mine is a 60 in cut.

Did not show retightening the oil drain plug prior to adding the fresh oil.
