    David Draiman has described himself as "sick as a dog" the night he performed this on Conan. 102° temperature and bronchitis to boot. David Draiman is a genuine baritone, with a massive vocal range, and was classically trained as a cantor in a synagogue when he was younger. I heard that they didn't even tell him they were going to use Auto-Tune, they just did it without his permission. He didn't find out until post, and he didn't even find out from them, he heard it in the track and confronted them with it. Man, was he ever pissed. From what I hear he hates Auto-Tune, 'cause he feels like it's cheating. You should go listen to the live concert version with Myles Kennedy.

      It's unlikely he was unaware of the auto tune. These kinds of TV events are pretty meticulously coordinated ahead of time and all the specifics of the performance are designed. Most TV performances will not even allow for a completely live take. Too many things that can go wrong.
      As for how much he hates auto tune... well.. the studio recording of the song has auto tune clear as day on it, so...

In all honesty, when I was first told I had to go listen to their rendition of this song, knowing who Disturbed is, I was incredibly impressed and became an even bigger fan of Disturbed. @SamuelNovota Před 5 lety +71

      It is such a pity when live performances are ruined by autotune... People do not understand that singing isn't flawless. Every video on youtube where singer is using extreme singing (belting, whistle, distortion...) and is perfect is heavily processed and either lipsynced or autotuned. There is just no way anybody can lay a perfect vocals on hard songs in 1 take. There is always gonna be some bad timing or flat/sharp note or vibrato flaw or something... Hiding these flaws puts unspeakable pressure on newcomers. I do not understand why these vocal coaches do not react only to unmiced performances of singers. Makes much more sense... Like these 2 for example: czcams.com/video/5BPGmCClb-c/video.html czcams.com/video/uAjaGUdfsPA/video.html

He definitely was sick during this performance and yes he still killed it cuz the show must go on right? He also has an issue where a repair done to his vocal chords has failed so no he essentially gets acid pouring into his vocal chords. He now changes how he eats and when and how he sleeps. His name is David Draiman. I've known him personally for about 14yrs now. No, he doesn't use auto-tune. He and I have had many convos about music as I'm a drummer and singer in a metal band. He has a phenomenal voice. However, this particular show (against his initial protests) they did add a slight auto-tune to his voice. Apparently they do that with all the people who go on to make sure it's a totally clean and smooth performance. All his other shows and performances, it's all him. Dave has such a great range crazy voice control. Tara Simon is an absolutely amazing vocalist herself. I've seen many of her videos and such. All those freaking out and making rude and disrespectful comments need to grow up. She was pointing out what she heard and noticed. As is HER JOB! Read the name of the video genius's. She's a professional and the fact that she can catch those little things shows how good she really is so kudos for that. This was a good video and I'm now subscribing.

    I love Disturbed, they are my absolute favorite band! I love David Draiman and his snake bite piercings. He is an amazingly talented singer. He actually had the flu during this performance, was so dizzy that he had to stay seated during his performance. I've seen them in concert 6 or 7 times and it's the first time I've seen him sit down. As far as the auto tune, that was a production thing, and he was actually really irritated that they used it, he had told them prior to the show not to use auto tune on him, but i guess they figured since almost every other singer needed it, that they were going to use it on him anyways. If you pay attention to his face at the beginning when the auto tune kicked in, you could see a little irritated look on his face for a second.

  • @johnsmith-ut2tq
    @johnsmith-ut2tq Před rokem +3

    THE WARNING The first stanza Simon refers to darkness as being his "old friend" that he came to talk with because he was awoken in the middle of the night, of a nightmare that still lingers in his head, that gives his a considerable amount of distress. So bad that the awful visions were still flashing before his eyes as he is awake.
    Second stanza begins setting the scene in which the dream took place: at night, him walking along the cobblestone road where he stops below the light of a streetlight. The cold chill runs up his back, so he lifts his collar to the "cold and damp." Just then, a blight neon sign lit up, showing that he, in fact, was not alone. But there were "ten thousand maybe more" all gathered in the cold night. The people who are talking, not speaking, are politicians, who are using false words to sway the population to vote for them, never revealing true intentions. The people therefore are hearing are not listening.
    They are taking these words that are spoken to them in plain value, not examining or putting into depth anything that is said. Because of this, as referred to later, these politicians have formed a government that the people in fact voted for and supported until it began to act as a dictatorship. This seems that Simon is making an inditement to a large government that has taken away the freedoms of its people. A future for America it seemed with the rise of government in world affairs as in entered Vietnam. This "future America" has given Americans everything, and has the power the take it all away, hence the people "bow and pray to the neon god they made."
    The Silence that is referred to is the silence of the people, afraid to say anything against the government for fear of death or worse. Simon, or whoever has had this dream, tries to bring people to speak out. Saying "Fools, you do not know, Silence like a cancer grows" that as more are afraid to speak, the more control the government takes and the less anyone will stand up to the new government.
    As all hope is about to be given up, someone steps up and says to the crowd that the future they will hold has been written on the walls of subways and tenement halls. This is because this form of protest can be done anonymously, therefore no one can get in trouble for it. This begins the whispering in the silence of the people, and starts the beginning of a revolt.
