Not to get too religious, but Doctor Fung is a real blessing. The doctor who got me off the path to diabetes (I was pre diabetic when I started going to him) and pointed me in a direction that I lost 80 pounds - dropping from 280 to 200. But the thing I remember is when that doctor walked me through charts and tables - that he drew on-the-spot, right on a yellow legal pad - explaining the problems with going onto diabetes meds. Anyway, the thing that changed my life was his just being frank, honest and science-based is his recommendations. His demeanor was a lot like Dr. Fung’s.

I’m so grateful my hubby, was in with us fasting, not eating carbs (including home made bread 😞), refined foods, eating out, and loads of home made baked goods (yes, I’m a great cook lol). It’s paid off in March it’ll be a year, and we EACH have lost 75 pounds ~ that’s 150 pound person between us. lol So happy, and over the moon thrilled with our progress. I like how you explained this. I recently changed my que. Around 9pm I would eat a small amount of sunflower or pumpkin seeds while watching a movie. At first I told myself this is better than the popcorn I used to eat. Last month I stopped night time eating and changed the que. Before a movie I do a routine with essential oils, rub it on my feet and spray some on my pillow. So, instead of sitting there struggling with not having a snack, my brain says now is the time to feel relaxed with beautiful aroumas.

      There are two factors here.
1- as everyone seems to notice, we were always on the move outside.
2- I don't know besides the fact we ate at home. My families had gardens. No processed food.
We did NOT EAT ALL DAY LONG.
Breakfast in the morning. Then lunch. After school snack. Dinner. Maybe eve snack. Portion control definitely. Slice of pie. Not the whole pie.
So the intermittent fasting plays a part of your body getting a break from processing food all of the time.
24hr a day grazing is killing us,now that I am understanding the insulin.

I walk 10K steps most every day and workout fasted 4 times a week yet I hold my weight around 200 lbs, I used to be 320 lbs 2 years ago.
Intermittent fasting with a low carbohydrate/keto lifestyle with good nutrition rocks.

I was a young teenager in the late '60s. Because I had overweight siblings, I made my own plan: eating reasonable portions at mealtimes (no second helpings, never any gravy, and minimal candy and pastries), and exercising before bed. It worked without giving me an eating disorder. Note: I did this without saying anything to my family as any remarks about being overweight were taboo.

I lost 30 kgs in the first year and made fasting my life style. For last 2 1/2 years, I eat only one meal a day and do a 48 hour fast once a week a matter of routine and habit. I would urge that you keep posting as many videos as possible given your expertise and scientific knowledge for the larger benefit of all. Thank you so much for being such an inspiration in this amazing amazing journey!

Dr. Fung you have hit the nail on the head. We don’t have to look too far in the past to understand why obesity was not an epidemic back then. Children and adults were healthy, lean and full of energy because eating was a scheduled activity that required someone in the family to cook a meal and put it in the table. Fasting happened automatically as there were no ready packets to reach out for. Today’s snacking culture driven by the food industry and the resulting diet industry which keeps suggesting new ‘super foods’ literally feed off each other!

I just found this channel. You have helped me so much. I have tried every diet in the book and failed. I have followed a low fat and carb diet for the past few month with no success. 3 weeks ago I was having pain throughout my entire body. My abdominal pelvic scan liver result showed I had fat deposit with multiple cyst. Kidney stones 5.5mm Lipoma right pelvic, muscle thickening of my bladder, and a BMI of 30.33. I knew reaching 60, I needed to make a change and didn't know how. I have been studying as many of your videos I can find. This has been a Blessing to my life. I revamp my meal intake, has been doing the intermittent fasting. I must say the beginning was tough. I was 182lbs today I am 172lbs. I am continuing to follow intermittent fasting hoping to heal my organs. Thank You Dr. Fong

Right now I am fasting during the week (Monday-Friday), and feasting on the weekend. When I say feast, I still eat keto, but really make sure I get my leafy greens. My carbs are mostly coming from vegetables, and then I top my salads with steak, shredded cheese, and avocado. I eat scrambled eggs for breakfast. I find it easy to fast during the week because I work in daycare and my days are fast paced. I go for a walk on my hour break instead of eating.

Very grateful for your videos and they worked for me. What is new in this one (for me anyway) is that you’re addressing the psychological response not just the insulin response which is obviously the main issue in all people with weight problems, myself included. Meditation and sleep does more for my weight loss than specific foods. I lost all my weight doing zero carb but have started integrating brown rice and other healthy carbs with no issue now I’m down to a healthy weight. The psychology of eating is key and you address it well here.
Be kind to yourselves. It’s the real key to weight loss. Ask yourself: “what would a person who loves themselves do?” If you answer honestly you will know just what to do.
All the best to everyone out there.

After having been obese for many years, I started with Intermittent Fasting and a Low Carb diet. I treated sugar and simple starches as a poison to be avoided at all costs. It took me about 14 months to reach normal weight (BMI < 25). After I reached normal weight, I decided to skip breakfast every day anyway. It was such a time saver in the mornings to skip it, so that habit stayed. While maybe not necessarily, I still do OMAD (One Meal A Day) twice a week. After 3 months, I have NOT gained the weight back. I've also noticed that I have a lot less interest in eating sweets.

But since then due to the 2 covid vaccines, I have had a major halt. Each time, I got badly impacted by the vaccine. Fever and chills 2 weeks after the vaccines. Now I am in the last week of my suffering (I hope). I feel like all the gains I did between April and July are gone. I feel so low and down and unhappy. I want to start on my routine again as of next week when I hope to back on my feet. Can you give me some advise ? Please. Thanks.
