- In 1588 The Spanish planned for an invasion of England to secure their dominance. But instead, they sealed their fate of decline. So what if they had succeeded? What if Spain had invaded England?

Apologies if this video seems a bit rushed and/or sloppy. I didn't have much time to work on it as said at the beginning. Thanks for understanding!
you have forgotten the most important information, this video would most likely be in Spanish😂
Si
I have to correct some things, after the Spanish Armada ,England sended the contraarmada that was defeated by the Spaniards and not by the climate and it was much bigger, after the Spanish Armada we built a much more powerfull Navy so it wasnt the end of Spanish Hegemony,I think that came in the Succesion War first, then Carlos III revived the Empire and second is the Battle of Trafalgar and The Napoleonic Invasion, that was the end of Spanish hegemony, but it is a really cool video, greetings from Spain
Also the Spainish-american war
PD: where are you from?
@@peivlo7801 by the time of that war Spain's empire was already in crumbs
@@specter1549 Imagine contributing the most to American Revolution but France got the credits and got backstabbed by the country you helped.

@@specter1549 Of course not. Any good historian would make it clear that Spain was the foremost power until the war of the Spanish Succession. It is at this moment when Spanish dominance begins to wane.
Imagine a timeline where Spain ruled the world... June - July 2010 🇪🇸🏆
Sería un mundo mejor para los hispanos 😍😍
meanwhile, the title of this video in that alternate reality: ¿Y si España nunca hubiese invadido Inglaterra? (Historia Alternativa)
This is a really good concept that I've never even thought about! Imagine an America that's similar to Mexico, really Catholic and speaking Spanish..... I wonder what the world would look like after the fall of Spain? What would happen to England? Would Napoleon even rise to power, and if he did, how would the Napoleonic wars turn out differently on this timeline? Would Spanish nationalism rise, to "Reclaim the Empire" or something? If WW1 happens, and Spain still keeps the Monarchy, they'd be allied with Austria (because of the Habsburg link) and join the Central Powers. How would WW1 turn out differently? This is a really interesting scenario, and thanks for making this video!
Sorry it's so long, got a bit carried away!
Haha, I'm glad you liked the idea!
That Annoying American 1 thanks!
Best idea
Spain in WWI was still a monarchy and we are actually still a monarchy to this day 😅
Nice video I enjoyed!
The invincible armada was not called the invincible armada, it was la felicísima armada, and the ships sent to England were a fraction of their whole pacific and Caribbean fleet.
They defeated to climate, not britain as by the time they reached the British isles, they had suffered of weather misfortunes, making the gunpowder wet and breaking more than one sail, some of the ships were also sunk on the way.
Spain continued to rule the world until 1750, an began to rule the world until its war of succession
😂😂Stop lying Spanish boy, Spain was slowly dying after this battle and Britain took over, god was on our side.
@@cpj93070wtf are you on kid? The English were lucky, if god had been to be on the British side that would’ve been insulting him for siding with such dirty creatures.
Spain’s decline began in 1700 and it was not until 1750 that Britain and France began to roll the dice for spain

Bro he put Mexican mariachis whilst describing Spaniards in pretty sure you guys in Spain don't have that traditional dance
Spain would dominate the entire America with this alt history
Don't forget; He was also married to Queen Elizabeth's Sister.
Yeah, I guess that opens up the possibility of an Anglo-Spanish Union. Another reason Spain would dominate the world. Again I really wish I had more time to go into depth with this one but I was on a tight schedule.
@@ThatAnnoyingAmerican It's probably A good thing their marriage didn't last, from All records: Philip II didn't really love or care for her.
@@savagedarksider5934 Yeah, but marriage was more of a political tool back then anyway.
@Jonathan Smith This is incorrect. England was a very insignificant power at the time. It was never in any way the English's intention to invade Spain and convert it to Protestantism. The fact they repelled the Spanish Armada and were able to weaken Spain to a point they would more or less never recover from was an English victory.
@Jonathan Smith Alright, there was an attempt to land in Spain. but I think you're misunderstanding the purpose of the invasion. The English weren't trying to convert Spain. Also, I would like to see the source that listed it as Spanish Victory. The closest to that that I can find is some call it a draw as the treaty was one of status quo. In reality, the much smaller English humbled Spain greatly and exposed their weakness that other Europeans would use and exploit for decades.
To address your second comment. I would like to make clear I am in no way trying to insult you nor the nation of Spain. But objectively speaking the Anglo-Spanish war had a positive outcome for England and a negative one for Spain
Interesting video. But the Hapsburgs had that horrible habit of marrying within the family.. WAY too much! You might end up still with a Spanish king with no heir and then a HUGE problem with succession. That could lead to a much larger War of Spanish Succession. later on. And encompassing more of the world.
Spain hadn't enough population to made more significative conquests, it was very overextended and fighting many foes at time.
Spain never in its history had the population to conquer America, the fall of Cusco and Tenochtitlan were due to the army of 90% of indigenous people
In no way did the Anglo-Spanish war began the decline of Spain as the main super power. They won such war and remained the main power until the war of the Spanish Succession. As soon as I begin listening to this video, I realized that it was twisting the truth, and never bothered with it.
Yeah where we finally got rid of you Spanish for good, after beating your ass one more time at Trafalgar, Napoleon backstabbed you, and came crying to us and Portugal to save you.
What could've been... God damn it.
The navy of spain is "La gran y felicísima armada" and the fall of the empire is in the "La guerra de los 30 años" in 1618.
The fall of the spanish empire? two hundred years more with a fallen empire?
@@elsenorviciado106 But is the end of the most glorious era for the empire.

@@elsenorviciado106 its true that the begining of the 17 century was good for Spain. But this is a strange period in his history.
@@plaxes1052 the 17 what strange century for all
I think you are going too far. This failed invasion didn't mark the end of the Spanish Empire nor the rise of the British Empire. It is highly overestimated by the british historiography. At best, if the invasion would have succeeded, it would have ignited a civil war in England within catholics against elizabethians and a large rebellion in Ireland but I think, at the end, things would have gone as we know them.
By no means did it mark the end of the Spanish Empire. What I meant by what I said was that their failure to invade England marked the end of their active rise. It was all downhill from there.
@@ThatAnnoyingAmerican Well, maybe most of the greatest achivements are placed before 1588 but there were still some pretty great hits to come: Nördlingen, Breda, the Philippines, the War of the Polish Succession...
And, the greatest success of all, preserving most of the american territories until the 19th century (something that the UK and France failed at).
In any case, I get your point. Really interesting videos, btw
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It’s so weird to be playing Mariachi music which is Mexican and was influenced by French culture lol
The good ending
Don't agree. Spain has massive inner problems even without England. When Spanish Habsburgs died out due to inbreding Spanish throne would be inherited by France which would absorb entire Spanish Empire and became unquestionable hegemon of Western Europe.

Sorry , but it was not "Spain" but the the Catholic World . Spain sent the Armada to go to Calais to bring over the Catholic troops (many Spanish) to put a Catholic monarch back on the throne of England. The Catholics had lost power and the Catholics wanted it back.
Glad we won, im sick of religious nuts thinking they can do what they want back then by force.
Spain lost becuase of black legend created basically British and French propaganda, when Spain lost his viceroyalties was fighting against Napoleon in the French Invasion besides USA take control and thats basically why Spain lost...at the same time, I think Spain was more prepared because he was fighting during 800 years against Muslims in the Reconquista.
