Tip: Unhook the drive belt from the drill press, insert the tap in the chuck, lower the press ram then turn the chuck by hand to tap the hole squarely.
is that like a old h&r single shot that thing looks pretty sweet I'd like a few 10 and 12 gauge single shots with varying barrels I like the little compact shotguns too good little boom sticks
Good job there. what happened to the bead that comes installed in the gun,or you did cut the barrel? if so what choke are you now and what choke were you?
I have the 16 ga same model I think but it has the steel trigger gaurd I shoot it all the time I even have a 1897 winchester from 1912 I shoot regularly it might be because I like shooting older guns but none of my guns are wall hangers I just have them cause I like that model of gun my 97 will never see hi brass bur it kills it's fare share of rabbits every year
Liberally is not a word, but "bigly" is the correct word to use in a majority of situations. Nice "rabbit" gun BTW. The old American break-actions are always sleepers!

Hey its not recommended to drill through the barrel exposing the bottom of the bead to your shot, you should have stopped short of drilling through the barrel.
That's pretty tough with such a thin wall tube. Tap it all the way through, threadlock the brass bead in, then file the brass bead from inside the barrel. Follow with rotary honing - it will get the brass flush long before it gets any steel.
Outstanding video. Straight and to the point.
very well done Sir, thank you for the detailed instruction
Should have watched before I removed Bead from cut barrel! Very informative. Thanks.
Good vid. Simple and too the point, thanks.
thats a good looking gun! thanks for the vid, i have an old ss shotgun that needs a bead.
Tip: Unhook the drive belt from the drill press, insert the tap in the chuck, lower the press ram then turn the chuck by hand to tap the hole squarely.
DUDE that's a pro tip right there! gonna change my life that.
Thanks x
Great job!👏🏻💯🇺🇸
nice work
Good video, I let a gun dealer fit a bead to a cut down single barrel and it was crooked, I cut the barrel down some more and fitted it myself...
Thank you for the video.
Thanks man
nice job.
If your SATISFIED...I'm SATISFIED thanks for the vid
sweet. doesn't look too bad.
Nice little shotgun for light home security or vermin control
Good vid. I'd like to see how she shoots now, esp with slug. Would make a decent video.

Papa Savage looks more like a Winchester 840.
Is that an Iver Johnson 12G?
What length barrel did you cut for your shotgun barrel? (very helpful video -- thank you)
(sorry, you said at the end -- thanks)
Good job there. what happened to the bead that comes installed in the gun,or you did cut the barrel? if so what choke are you now and what choke were you?
uhhh well the barrel blew up in the last 6". my guess is it was improved cylinder and now its just cylinder. true scatter gun!
did you use wrong ammo to blow the barrel? or there was something wrong with the barrel?
It was a "empty" shell with no lead shot in it. Fired the next one not realizing the plastic wad never exited the barrel. I was 13 at the time.
Just putting the tap in the drill chuck and turning it by hand would have saved you some trouble.
When drilling metal like that, is it better to have the drill press running at high RPM's?
Depends on drill bit. Carbide, high speed. HSS, low speed.
put a homemade 60* center in the mill, use it to guide the tap straight.
That's how we do it in the machine shop :)
How do I remove a broke off bead sight without damaging the threads so I can install a factory replacement on a Stevens 107B?
Cut a slit into what's left of the bead and use a flathead. If that's not possible, drill and tap a hole into the bead, and pull it out
thanks for three helpful video. I would have said "generous" amount of cutting oil. the word liberal doesn't get used much at my house.
I normally use the word 'liberal' in this fashion: I passed a liberal into my toilet this morning.
what size drill bit did you use?
Thanks
where you buy your bead sight?
Look at Numrich
I have the same gun with a 36 inch barrel in mod
I have the 16 ga same model I think but it has the steel trigger gaurd I shoot it all the time I even have a 1897 winchester from 1912 I shoot regularly it might be because I like shooting older guns but none of my guns are wall hangers I just have them cause I like that model of gun my 97 will never see hi brass bur it kills it's fare share of rabbits every year
But thx for the info im putting a front sight on my 1951 Ithaca model 37 12ga and 1948 Ithaca model 37 20ga
I have a hole in my barrel where the old bead fell out so it should be easy to replace.

That was the reason I watched the video. I don't want the bead to blow out, I'll try to not drill all the way through mine

Good job. MAGA !
