I had a United Motors x-speed 250. 1 cylinder 4 valve fuel injected I weigh 300 pounds it would run 85 miles an hour on the interstate. GPS to make sure. they are awesome scooters

My own best example of that type of usage!
Several years ago I was still living in Portugal, Sintra/Lisbon Right on the West coast. Curiously just some minutes from "Roca Cape" the most Western point of Europe! ;-)
At the time I had to take care of a few matters on the other side of the country, >300km away, very close to the boarder of Spain!
All said and done I went there (mostly highways) in the morning. Took care of things and drove back, shortly after lunch.
All in all, little more than 600km! I was surprisingly fresh after all that! So much so, that upon arrival before I went home. First I made a stop on my nearest Kawasaki dealer, to test ride the (at the time) brand new Kawasaki Ninja 250R! Than I went home...
That was done with an incredibly decent, at the time, Piagio XEvo 250ie.
Fuel injection. Euro3 emissions. Really low consumption, extremely effective scooter with a surprisingly good performance. Specially considering it's "executive" clothes! Really comfortable. Good luggage space and access. Excellent on board computer, etc.
By the end of that year I bought a also brand new Suzuki Burgman 400! Curiously! In spite the bigger size, comfort seat and even larger engine (performance) and luggage capacity. I should say the Piagio 250 was by far the best "bang for buck" of the two! ;-)
Worth mention the Piagio 250, to this day, have one of the best CVT transmissions on the market!

Really helpful information here thanks for sharing. I have been thinking about a bigger 400cc Scooter but feel the increase in weight and power may not be worth it. I do like the "mid 250cc" size and it works well for most cases .
