- A guy stumbled upon a rare white on white Hardtop 1970 Cadillac Sedan Deville! A bonus is it's full of original equipment, right down to the floor mats, spare, and more. The only problem, of course, is that it's been sunk in a valley bottom all the way to the frame for 20 years and hasn't moved since it was parked. The plan? I don't have one, other than finding out if this old sleeping giant will start and run again, and drive me home. Above and beyond because it's what a guy enjoys doing (saving classics from rotting or getting crushed), it's out of necessity. After wind, rain, broken camera equipment - my service truck also breaks down leaving me no choice but to make this land yacht my ride home!

He did have a few neat tricks we didn't have lol the gas-can primer n the thing zipped to the brake ha ha I keep saying Yessss it will crank, Yessss it will go up a hill, Yessss it will run ha ha this was hilarious but Kudos for saving one of GM's great cars, I picked up plenty at old impounds for 1 or 2 bills and cleaned them up n sold them a grand or 2 years ago. No Brakes, in midwinter, I clap off the lines. Next day, Im runnin to work (have to stay in 1st gear, no higher than 2nd) for my whole ride anywhere. I get pulled over by a State COp for blowin a redlight. Cop is tellin me how bad Id be Ker-blewied...
But I cant tell her, I got no brakes...
She also only caught 1 knife. Ive got 3 and 4 pipes.

I'm both laughing and crying at this video. I'm a 65 year old woman, and this was our family car in 1975-1980. My father was born in 1911 and had a full service garage. He adored the engineering of Cadillacs. Thank you for caring about this wonderful old car. It's worth restoring, I think. Vice Grip Garage, you have the passion and the knowledge to do it. Plus the youth to do it. Do you think you'll restore her?
They had a live stream vehicle fleet update this past week. He mentioned the possibility of a restoration and maybe power tour next year for the Caddy..that would be cool.

My brother was in Nam and he bought my mom the 68 DeVille with his Hazardous Duty pay.. she loved that ole boat!!
Respectfully, I don't think it'll need a full restoration, it looks really straight and mostly rust free. After all mechanical/electrical repairs, weld in some patch panels on the lower front fenders maybe, match up the paint, spot repair and paint , also other small sections. Then after a deep cleaning, polish and wax and that car will look awesome and have a great story to tell wearing it's mostly original finishes/patina, which would be lost with a full resto. Retain the character, I'd say. Great car!
PS: Please don't put loud mufflers on this cream puff. This thing is supposed to be nice and quiet! There's room in this world for a big, quiet but powerful caddy!!!

I have a 76 Eldorado that belonged to my Dad since 78. I'm always amazed it will fire up and drive me around. It only has 83K but so many years on her. I was started to wonder about seals and such but this vid has reaffirmed my faith in the big old sled. Awesome as always to ride along.

I found VGG about 2 months ago. This is by far the most entertaining episode ever. The drive home was amazing comedy. Well done
I kept rewatching the ride home 🤣🤣🤣 imaging I'm one of the other drivers. You feel the air around you begin to rumble and wonder if there's a plane about to crash on top of you. Suddenly a loud 1970 Cadillac covered in mold goes flying past you at 90mph leaving a cloud of white smoke for miles. A few minutes later you drive past and see it sitting on the side of the road while he refills the passenger seat gas tank. Then a few miles down the interstate you hear it rumbling up behind you again 🤣🤣🤣. The little comments he's making a long the way about cops & people thinking they were gonna pass him, this is all priceless. And what he's doing seems like a noble cause as well. How could you not enjoy this.

Another fantastic video friend! My great-grandfather had a early to mid 70 Fleetwood Brougham with the 500 cubic inch engine! I remember sneaking the keys out, pretty young, when id rev the engine the whole car would twist to the right! Great memories!

Had to come back and watch it again: the first episode I stumbled upon during lockdown. I was so excited to find out he was in my neck of the woods. His sense of humor and car savvy blew my mind. I remember thinking, this guy is off the farm. Them farm boys solve problems before breakfast that would make a city feller lose his s**t and enter a monastery. Now back to the future and the wrap.

I had a '69 DeVille convertible with this same exact engine. Such a fun ride. It had five ashtrays. Simply amazing that he got this car to run after sitting for so long.

Gotta be honest here Derek, I don’t really re watch CZcams videos, but this is like the 5th time I’ve watched this. What’s a feller to do when waiting for that Independence Chevelle update haha. This is certainly one of my all time favorite videos on this site. There is just something about the overcast, remote location, and your commentary that just makes a guy laugh. Thank you for these videos, they made a bad day a good day I tell ya.

I LOVE 70’s Cadillac’s. We had a 1974 Hearse with the 472. Pump her twice and she’d start everytime. The design is just pure brilliance. I miss the 1974 we had.

Took my drivers test in a 1972 cadillac coup deville back in the early 80's. Loved that car! Grand pop used to say "jump in and lets go burn the carbon out" and we would do about 120 mph down the super highway. Good times!! Cheers!

This reminds me of my Moms 75 coup Deville. The big old 500. The gas gauge went down as fast or faster than the speedometer went up. She did run like a champ. It always felt like you were driving while sitting on your couch.

Had a 66Fleetwood milage not bad of course it was the 80s
6 if you were cruising, marshmallowing down the highway. Derek’s testing on it 1-4 sounds about right

I have a 76 coupe de ville with the 500 cubic inch engine. around town 9 MPG highway (at 65 MPH) 14-15 MPG.
That carb could need to be rebuilt that could help a lot too. As well as a good tune up
