  • This Milwaukee 2831 6-1/2" Plunge Track Saw Kit is one of the most requested tools in the past couple of years. As other manufacturers peppered the woodworking and carpentry trades market with their renditions, Milwaukee seemed to fall behind. Well, the question is, did they learn from the others and leapfrog ahead? The M18 FUEL platform ensures that you're getting the brushless motor, and it's powered by the M18 6Ah High Output battery. Max speed is up to 6,300 RPM, and you can also adjust the Max speed with the 6-speed dial. We pushed the Milwaukee Track Saw through cuts in 8/4 (2") Purple Heart with a Janka rating of 2520. #milwaukeetool #woodworking #tracksaw

    I can't find any info on how well the guide rails work connected together. Can I buy 2 55" ones and keep them in the same bag and just connect them? Does that work well? Or does it not stay true.

    The plunge and drive, through the hard wood revealed little bog, good dust collection. 👍 The 2831 can utilize good festool tracks. How are the Wukee tracks/rails? Wanted to see how the rail interlock and clamps work. Are they comparable to festool and others?IMO this saw is more a professional unit (not DIY) and a good deal with packout kit. Rails and bag decent price. Good video 👍

    Please make another model track saw that is worm drive!! I really don’t understand right side blade saws & this is the only thing keeping me from buying your track saw! Give people the option of either blade configuration so they can choose whichever is more comfortable for them. No other company does this & could definitely make your saw stand out from the other 25 companies, or however many there are, that offer a track saw.

    • @steffendetrick
      @steffendetrick Před rokem

      I don’t understand why you’re concerned about blade orientation? On a Tracksaw the line of sight isn’t relevant. Once you set your track that is what you go by and you can run the saw from left to right or right to left. I can promise you they’re never coming out with a warm drive style track saw it doesn’t make sense for them to do.

    • @georgiafan6618

      @@steffendetrick I’m lazy. When I set up my cut, hose and cord out of the way, I almost stand next to saw and guide it down track using left hand. I can see the cut better this way. Cordless removes one cord - hose is still there. The Waukee seems legit.

    Shouldn't every circ saw be a track saw going forward? You can use it without the track. What are the advantages of a 'regular' circ saw? Other than being cheaper. I can do everything with the track saw I need. Rear-handle would be one of the exceptions.

    • @markr1142
      @markr1142 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Around 2 inch narrower base on non track circular saws, they also are a lot lighter, so are more manoeuvrable for general carpentry. You have a lot better blade visibility as well. Track saws are great for plunging and cutting straight. Circular saw is more general purpose and better for everything else.

    What’s the purpose of -1 degree bevel?

    • @unclefester4626
      @unclefester4626 Před rokem

      To compensate for a poorly designed cheaply built saw base?? That would be my guess. Milwaukees corded circulars saw attachment points the the cutting base are nothing short of disgraceful. The blade is never parallel to the edge of the base...and changes every time you breathe on the saw.
      My experience with their m18 and m12 is that they're fairly solid compared to their corded ones.

      Can't really explain it that well because english is not my first english. But to make sure to have zero visible gap on butt joints you undercut and if you undercut from the backside you need a negative bevel.

      @@Shoptoolreviews The 7-1/2” is a big circ saw blade - vibrates. The 6-1/2 makes decent compromise and you can cut 1-1/2” at 45 deg. Festool’s 6-1/4 can’t. The Waukee getting pos reviews from carpenters on CZcams - better than new Makita.

      Cut the foam section up in half to house the saw then either purchase a divider or do what i did and cut some MDF to slide down the middle then use the other half for circular/jigsaw and blades etc.
      Failing that - empty it all out and line it with insulation for beer. After all it’s a £100 box that comes included in the price. Better than some companies that don’t offer anything!

    That first cut to set the straight edge on the track as well as splinter guard seems like an incredibly poor and cheap design to me. If you change the milwaukee blade to one thats leaps and bounds better like a Diablo blade you're going to have to do the break in with the Diablo blade and not the crappy Milwaukee blade otherwise youre might have gaps, i would assume.
    And if no other blade maker makes blades for this saw then i would pass on it alltogether....

    • @CementRoots
      @CementRoots Před rokem +8

      LOL... you're obviously not a track saw user.... the method of trimming the strip is the same as all track saws, also the blade has a standard 20mm arbor hole (track saws don't use 5/8" arbors) .... as for swapping the blades, the rail guides on the base can be slightly adjusted to get a "different" blade right up to the splinter strip.... it cracks me up when someone speaks out of turn on a subject they know nothing about...
