- For a brief period of time from 1979 to 1983, there may not have been a better runner than William Andrews. He had the power to run through defenders and the pass catching ability to create big plays. Ran for over 1,000 yards in every full season he played in and had over 2,000 yards from scrimmage twice. A knee injury derailed his career in his prime, but was a great player nonetheless who was a 4x Pro Bowler and a 2x Second Team All Pro. Had almost 6,000 rushing yards and 41 total touchdowns in his career.

Loved William Andrews! My toddler even got a William Andrews Jersey for Christmas. Totally underappreciated.
William Andrews is an Atlanta Falcons legend who played along with Steve Bartowski. I love those throwback Falcons uniforms.
And my fellow Brit Mick Luckhurst. Loved early 80s Atlanta.
Atlanta was like the Motown South for fellow musicians like Goodie Mob, OutKast, Organize Noise, Youngbloodz, TLC, Dallas Austin. Back in the day when Atlanta was popular for a lot of activities.
He is also a hometown hero in the state of Georgia. He is originally from Thomasville.
Andrew’s was ahead of his time! This is. Great highlight real for a player whose career was cut short because injury. If healthy, who knows what the Falcons would have become - and Gerald Riggs would’ve landed somewhere else!
An utterly disregarded giant of football. Absolutely superb all-time back.
Best blocker of any RB in history.
@@tadlambert1493 No argument there. He had no weaknesses...none. Didn't he lead the NFC in receptions in 81?
William Andrews, Wilbert Montgomery, Billy Sims all cut down in their prime back when a torn knee was basically a career ender.
An absolute beast of a runner. It had to be terrifying for DB's to see big #31 coming at them!
My favorite all time falcon. Would hold all the records if he didnt get hurt. And he did all this from a true fullback position
“Number 31 is a raging bull of a runner, who can turn a defense into a china shop.” You just can’t beat these old NFL Films lines.
Another great back from that time period whom didn't have today's modern medical procedures to benefit from like Billy Sims, Marcus Dupree, Chuck Foreman, the real Curt Warner, and others.
William Andrews was a fullback who played tail back
Big Ronnie Lott got crushed
Ronnie Lott wasn't particularly big, just crazy.
