- Traditional Irish jig played on viola (transposed down a 5th from the original key to fit comfortably).
Sheet music in alto clef is available in Volume 1 of my collection of folk tunes for viola. The sheet music inludes this version, plus a version in the original key (but in first position) to enable violists to play along with fiddle players.
Basic PDF sheet music is available in a collection of traditional tunes at: payhip.com/b/Stru
**NEW! Sheet music with the bowings and ornaments that I play in this video is available at: payhip.com/b/uwB4a **
Warning: this tune may be cursed. It took me four different video sessions to get this recording made, with something going technically wrong in the first three attempts, but ONLY ON THIS TUNE, not any of the others I was recording. (I am not going to play this tune again for at least a few months now.)

Love it, my son used to play bluegrass music on the viola.
Excellent playing! I love it! I wish more trad players would play viola. I am only a learner, but i bought one myself, and i've no regrets.
Wonderful, you've inspired me to get out my old viola and try traditional, thank you
Excellent playing of an excellent tune!

Have you considered doing Welsh fiddle tunes on the viola?
I have considered it, but I don't actually know any... suggestions welcome!
@@folkviola I recommend starting with the Red House of Cardiff (Tŷ Coch Caerdydd)
Thanks! I'll look it up
Sometimes it looks like you are playing a violin but you are just very tiny.
Some people in the past were so used to seeing me with a viola that when I finally got a violin they thought I had become a giant
