I kinda gave up on Vaush ever changing or admitting a single mistake in his life after the JK Rowling "ironic misogyny" arc where literally everyone told him he was wrong and he just doubled and tripled and quadrupled down and burnt bridges with contrapoints and just about every other trans creator who was friendly towards him by insisting he knew what was better for the trans community than them.
Still, somehow, I got suckered into thinking once again that maybe this coalition building thing would finally be a turnaround, and of course the video he released after totally shattered that illusion right away. Actually unbelievable to use a coalition building panel for clout and then immediately start tearing down another person on the panel without blinking.

I learned about destiny because of vaush, but after watching the panel and then watching vaush lie in real time about israel palestine and not address any of it, I've spent a ton of time just watching old destiny content and comparing it to what vaush said about that content at the time, im talking dozens of hours, and I'm noticing this pattern of Ian just lying and lying and lying and covering it up with charisma. I feel like I was gaslit by him for so long, with how much he's lied over and over and over about not just destiny but tons of other people too, how he just glibly dismisses valid points by jokingly calling it "libshit" or something similar. At the end of the day, you’re honest. Your positions haven’t always been popular, and you’ve certainly not always communicated them in an effective manner, but you’ve always been honest about the stances you take.
People like vaush, hasan and Emma aren’t honest. Time and time again they demonstrate that this is all a big game for them; they’ll say whatever is necessary to propagate their influence, simply for the sake of accruing more power.
I don’t believe these people care about being politically effective or exacting real change. They’ve demonstrated repeatedly that they’re quite happy to live their lives feigning political activism by labelling the opposition the most extreme noun possible.
I am glad that your investment in honesty and integrity is finally paying off. You will see that people respect you, and you will see that in five years you’ll still be standing and you’ll be someone known for, at the very least, being honest. It does pay off.

There are more honest people out there in the public light, but Destiny always hangs out in weird circles where he'll never meet any of them.
On the rare occasion he does meet a cool person, he has them on stream maybe once or twice, like Aella, or IRI, and then doesn't do anything with them, just chats with them once in a year.
Meanwhile he's doing these weird events with the likes of the Intercept, Emma Vigeland, and least of all f-ing Vaush, lol. If I were Destiny, I would not associate with someone who's been within a mile radius of that loser, let alone with the man himself.
I would like him to make friends with people at Vox, Crooked Media, etc. Not sure how, maybe behind the scenes, but with actual smart leftist people with principles and college degrees.
And he should start that media company, but I can already tell you how it's gonna go: he's going to hire young, random weirdos from chat who claim they know what they're doing, he'll be completely aimless in what the company does, and it'll end up just being some glorified add-on to his influencer persona.

How is this statement wrong? If a liberal party and a fascist party were running against each other, and the liberal party knew it could push one lie to guarantee a win in an otherwise hotly contested election, would it be morally wrong for them to do so? Obviously not. Destiny has this exact same position, as does any sensible person.
This statement come up in a debate on moral axioms with Rem where Vaush said that our acceptance of truth comes from power, not some fully idealized cognition. This is just a factually true statement and basically the entirety of what literature on information and totalitarianism entail. This is a major theme in Hannah Arendt's work and the major theme of 1984. It's stupid that this line and criticism still exists when it's also a pretty foundational tenet of Destiny's arguments too.

I think this is just one more downside to the left's embrace of identity politics, which is by definition highly personal and judgemental. Such an ideological context will continue to foster disunity and factionalism, and will turn off the very people we need to convince.
The economic focus, on the other hand, is more inclusive and less personal. It was much easier for the left to build broad coalitions in the past for this reason.
We need to return to the MLK style which addressed issues like racism and bigotry in a more inclusive, less judgemental and less dogmatic way, and was also far more effective of course. It recognised that after the civil rights bills were passed, the best way to empower minorities was to raise their standard of living.

When King denounced Vietnam, most civil rights leaders turned against him - Lyndon Johnson cut all ties with him after he publicly condemned the war that everyone agrees now was a huge disaster. Sorry, but "MLK Style" is not what you seem to think it is if you think it made it "easier for the left to build broad coalitions" - if anything, the "MLK Style" destroyed and made it harder to build left coalitions at the time... not that I think it was bad, his legacy speaks for it's self and history has proven him right... but it's definitely very different from how you're painting it.

I had high hopes for this because it is clear to me that Destiny is serious about this, but I have no idea what Vaush or Emma's goal of going to this function was. The point of this meeting wasn't for them to just agree on everything, so I don't know why Vaush is criticizing Destiny for having and pointing out their disagreements. Those are also the properties of tribalism rivalry. But it goes deeper. Those who identify with either group become an unwitting passenger in their own mind, so to speak. Proportional to how identified one is, perception becomes usurped by the group's collective interests especially victory over the competition. Those with identity overlap begin to act as one organism. The organism only tolerates certain in-group narratives and information. It can't tolerate out-group stuff, only attack it. Malfaesance and dishonesty are presumed with conviction, even where there was none. The instinctual intention is to generate rage in the host , which likely have had some evolutionary benefit at some point in the past. But it's all just experienced as objective reality. I couldn’t possibly get that perspective consistently from a source like Vaush or Hassan and feel like I got an honest take. In fact, I’ve yet to run across a far leftist/socialist/commie type where I felt I could get their perspective honestly with no obfuscation. And that’s super unfortunate, because the lack of that source has left my own ability to argue against these perspectives much weaker, because in most cases it’s hard to pin down what these people even actually believe. I think the whole idea that "Destiny is so obsessed with Vaush" is just dumb. Destiny streams like 40 hours a week and covers Vaush like 7-8 times a year?
That's him being obsessed? It's just such a stupid narrative. Whether or not the following is true. If Destiny genuinely believes "Vaush has been the second biggest well poisoner towards me, ever", it's almost like covering him makes sense. If he genuinely believes "If I am part of this group, and I get into "drama" and the entirety of them, my own partners, begin attacking me, it grinds this entire thing I deeply care for to a halt. Vaush viewers (not Vaush and Destiny viewers) simply don’t watch this content. That’s what Destiny was getting at is that if he took a hardcore Vaush fan and showed them a little bit of his content or even this video, they probably wouldn’t defend him.

All mention of Destiny, good or bad is banned in Vaush's reddit, and I assume that extends to his chat as well. They are insulated from any outside information. So when Vaush does his simulacrum thing where he goes "Ah yes, Destiny was an angry sophistic fascist while I was trying my best to be nice." They just believe it. Very few will go out of their comfortable spaces to seek out opposing views. There's also a mindset that streams cultivate in their audiences. The way Destiny often seeks to understand his debate opponents views and talks to so many different types of people will prime his audience to be more willing to see the other side. Meanwhile someone like Vaush is going around saying X political side is fully evil.

"The satiation of his feeling of intellectual superiority takes precedence over anything material in a debate whether or not it's actually true."
The reason why he says this is because in Vaush's mind, he assumes that his opinions are automatically correct and true, so it must be impossible for someone as rational as Destiny to have any other opinion than the correct opinion(Vaush's opinion). Any attempt to argue a conclusion other than the one Vaush has must therefore be an argument in bad faith.

He does seem very manipulative, even if he has good points some of the time. I've also noticed he acts differently when he's in a room with people compared to in his bedroom. In his bedroom he will mouth off and talk loads of trash but in person he's suddenly personable and reasonable.

But as someone who started off watching vaush mainly then got more into destiny around the Rittenhouse debate and have now leaned more toward his content and political stance the vaush, I just find the idea that destiny doesn’t misrepresent vaush as kind of laughable if you pay close enough attention .
Ds rhetoric around vaushs moral philosophy has lead him to misrepresent his stances on utilitarianism many times while not showing clips for context.
Also iv noticed every now and then D will kind of lump vaush, Hassan , and tankies in the same group. I think he’s been slipping up and doing this everynow and then because Hassan seems to recently be leaning more toward tankie/pro china socialist bent and Hassan/Vaush are the twin dragons of lefty well poisoning in Ds mind.
Now to be clear I agree they do well poisoning/misrepresent and I do think that shit will destroy a coalition, but the behaviors of misrepresentation are present on all ends.
That said Destiny does have more leverage in the situation and his criticism of vaush are broadly accurate so I’m not mad at him throwing his weight around a bit more but some criticism are def better than other
It just feel like D is doing a bit of a slight of hand when he start with “Vaush misrepresents me” then quickly moves to “and I don’t misrepresent vaush (and if I do it’s not consequential)”
Lastly I will die on the hill of Destiny trying to criticize Vaush around the sexism/JK rolling stuff is the MOST laughable.
I could be wrong but I don’t remember him ever actually looking into the drama, just vaguely mentioning it while saying vaush had to be wrong because he got into it with contra points and brigaded her after with his fans.

People often misunderstand psychological projection, it isn't "I'm rubber you're glue ..." (it can be that) - but it's far more common. Essentially, when you only use yourself as a reference for assessing internal motivations (which most people do) you end up revealing yourself rather than actually scrutinizing somebody else directly. So either Vaush, when he imagines his mind in what he thinks Destiny's circumstance to be, Essentially would behave the way he accuses Destiny of behaving or somebody he turns to for counsel on these matters would. Without some real evidence and humint experience, most cold reading is projection and/or pattern recognition. Vaush hardly even cold reads, he seems to rely on learned profile tropes and pure projection of his own mind to fill in the gaps. Creators tend to attract similar people to them, and perhaps intimidate others into Stockholmesque worship - so it's easy to convince a bunch of egoists that thier projections are valid and therefore so too are thier "insights" into the minds of people they know little about.

I don't blame people for not trusting the "more government" party on this issue though. At least Dems talk about it and Bernie/Warren ran on it. Fix the $ in politics and then worry about the rest.

Yeah, I’m ideologically opposed to destiny on almost everything. However, he’s my ‘go to’ when I’m trying to understand what is going on with left wing insanity. Sometimes it feels like left wing politics is completely unhinged, like they live in a parallel universe. To try and understand it Destiny is by far the best person to explain the rationality behind it and he does a pretty good job of that, even though he’s almost always wrong imo. But at least he’s articulating these things in a reasonable way I can understand. I feel like I would probably get along with him fine irl, politics aside.
So, in that respect I think he’s a net positive for politics in general.

imagine coalition building with a totalitarian sociopath not bearing fruit. I just don't understand how could this brilliant plan go wrong? 😆

Bro before destiny I was in a right-wing bubble parroting all their stupid talking points. Now I most parrot Destiny's takes to be completely honest, but I do find myself yelling at the phone when I hear him say something stupid, which did not happen in my right wing phase.
So for them to think you aren't changing minds and making a difference is absolutely insane. And what's really funny is it was Vaush going on tim pools podcast that kind of popped my bubble. Just happens that the next video recommended was one of Destiny's.

Happy to see everything going so well since I've been watching in 2015. Never would have imagined you could change and evolve so much, and that you're here doing all this irl political stuff now.

Yeah, my uncle moved his family out of Ukraine two days before the invasion because if the Blinken warnings. His city was on the frontline for 6 months.
Making that intel public was a real power move from the US.
