    Bought mine in July 2000 at the CLA Gamefair. £600 for the carbine (no safety) and silencer with a Whitetail Classic scope and a Hills hand pump. Still as powerful and accurate as my latest FX.
    Only had to change an O ring about 10 years ago and that's it.

    I was recommended your review out if the blue! I own the s310, bought it new back in 1996, and still own it. I can't believe it's over 25 years old! Still looks in great condition and never had an issue, apart from one scratch on the stock made by someone's wedding ring after I let him use it at the gun club.

    hi, i have the s410 22 and i love it, pellet on pellet every time, the only fault i have with it is the magazene when you load the pellets into it
    they tend to drop out unless you keep it level.

  • @harryzero1566

    I had this model in the light hunter version, great on many levels, but I didnt like that rear bolt pellet cycling action, the proud magazine profile, the grub scew muzzle break and the filler cap/ and adapter filling method.
    Maybe if the 510s had been available, I could have accepted that plastic high profile magazine and other issues
    I swapped out for the HW100KT, which I still have.

    I've been looking for a bolt-action rifle for a while but couldn't decide between the Daystate Huntsman Regal HR, the BSA R10 and the Air Arms S410. This video persuaded me to visit my local dealer today, just to have a look you understand, but then I came home with an S410 Superlite Carbine in .22. I haven't shot it yet but I have to say it is an absolutely beautiful little gun, it oozes quality, if it shoots half as good as it looks I'll be well happy. Thanks for the review Richard.

    Another cracking review Richard. I know you're not a fan of the safety catch in the trigger unit, but back in 2003 when I bought my S410 carbine from Sandwell Field Sports, it had NO safety catch whatsoever. About a week or so after purchasing the rifle, Air Arms contacted me to see if I was willing to have my rifle upgraded with a new safety catch they were developing . I agreed and my rifle was collected, modified, and returned all within a week or so and all at Air Arms expense. The safety catch on my rifle looks almost exactly like the production button version apart from the stamping on the trigger to show if the gun is safe or live, which was obviously done with metal lettering stamps and looks a little unrefined. I even still have the job ticket from Air Arms. I wonder if they keep records of these mods at the factory?

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 2 lety

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks very much. They are both great rifles. I think much will depend on what you want the rifle for. If you plan on doing any hunting I'd say the S410 would be better simply because of the magazine for quick follow up shots and not having to fiddle around in the field to single load. The S410 is fine, of course to use on the range or for targets shooting, but some people prefer the fact that the single shot S400 slows them down a little and helps makes them more deliberate about each shot. You could always get a single shot loader for an S410 of course, then you have the best of both worlds. Rowan Engineering do a great one ww.pullthetrigger.co.uk/Rowan-Engineering-Single-Shot-Loader-for-Air-Arms-S410-S510

    • @Beesa10
      @Beesa10 Před 2 lety +1

      I've got the S400. With hindsight, given the choice I would go for the S410, but having said that I haven't had the need for quick second shots and the single loading is quite methodical. I can see how the magazine is an advantage for shooting rats at night.

    Being unregulated do you have to worry about a sweet spot on the S410 particularly for hunting and getting the best power output. I noticed you filled it to 190 Bar (the max) but I also read that with unregulated rifles fill pressure there is a X and Y as regards max and min to get the best consistency and power output. I am considering purchasing one of these but never had an unregulated PCP before. Many Thanks.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před rokem +1

      Hi - yes there will be a power curve at the beginning and end of the fill range. Working out the fill pressure 'sweet spot' where shots are most consistent involves a bit of trial and error on the range. A chronograph would help too to help you spot when the velocity starts to drop off. Great rifle though, even without a regulator.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hi Lukas. It's generally accepted that you need a minimum of 30 ft/lbs to get the benefit from slugs, so there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to shoot them in your S410. Accuracy will depend on the rifling in the barrel and also the weight / type of slug. Personally, I've never really found they offer much of an advantage over pellets, and I've shot plenty of rabbits with pellets at 50-70 metres with FAC air rifles. Range is determined as the distance you can put 10 pellets through an inch in my book.

      Lol, you definitely refer to the rifle you have in front of you as the carbine.

    Nice review but it looks like the rifle to me not the carbine.

      Yes Jon. Not sure why I kept calling it the carbine. Tried to remember all the small details and got the big one wrong. I hope it didn't spoil the video for you. 🤪

    Nice rifle but not for me. I think it is unforgivable for a rifle that expensive not to include a moderator or even any provision to fit one. It is not back garden friendly and I dont like the look of the barrel band. It is accurate and would make a great field rifle.

      Plenty more expensive rifles than the S410 don't have a silencer Roy. But I get your point.
