    Fantastic review Thank you. I bought a GAMO GX-40 a few days ago and knew nothing about it! The specialist shop I bought it from said they were a perfect introduction to target shooting and it looks like it was great advice.

    Nice review. The GX40 appears identical to my Gamo Phox, which I am really pleased with. My .22 Phox puts pellet on pellet at 25 yds (no wind). Be aware that because of the stiff cocking, it is easy to put two pellets in the barrel. Give it a good hard pull and no problem.

    Brilliant review. I think this is the first PCP for me. I like the Kral NP02 and NP03 but I don't think there's a lot between them, but this is Gamo/BSA and I feel a bit more confident buying a more established brand. The weight is good too, no problem walking and stalking. I also prefer this to the Phox package because its cheaper and you can add better quality scope and silencer. Do you think I'm making a sound choice? Thanks ATB MMMD

    If you have a Gamo GX-40 in .177 that is not regulated down in Joul adapted to some country's laws, it shoots best with a heavier diabolo pellet that weighs 10+ grain. 😉

    Really find your reviews are great, as it is i'm currently looking for my first rifle and my head is spinning, i've kinda narrowed it down to either a Gamo or the ATA Airborne which i'm leaning towards, would you recommend one over the other.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks very much. I'm glad we could help. The ATA Airborne is a great rifle. So too are the Gamo Phox and Coyote. In terms of performance, there is very little between them in terms of performance. It really comes down to which one you want - neither is a bad decision. Also, what you want it for. The ATA is quite heavy which is something to bear in mind if you plan on hunting, especially as the Gamo rifles are quite light. You might also get better after sales service from Gamo (BSA) if something goes wrong. If it was me, I think I'd go for the ATA as I was genuinely impressed with the quality of engineering for the price. Take a look at the Kral NP03 as well though (we reviewed it on the channel as well). In truth, as I say, there is no wrong decision. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful...

      Hi Craig - you're very welcome. You can fill to 232 bar, but no more. I tend to fill to slightly less than the maximum recommended on all my rifles and fill my GX40 to 200 / 210 bar typically...

      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 2 lety

      Hi. The Gamo website quotes 27-40 Joules...I hope that helps. I'm guessing 27J is .177 and 40J is .22. www.gamo.com/en/gamo-gx-40-pcp/#

  • @Mrcoldy1988
    @Mrcoldy1988 Před 2 lety

    Thank you sir. I have a question. I would like to know, what is the optimal range of such rifles before the bullet starts falling down too much? Also, do you have information about the precise power of that rifle? Most shops just say about

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 2 lety

      Hi. Range is a subjective thing. For hunting live quarry, my own view is that at 12 ft/lbs (16 J), 30 metres is the maximum range in .22 and 40 metres in .177. It is possible to shoot longer distances, especially with .177, but I would only do so at targets and not live quarry. I understand that where laws allow, the GX40 is available up to 40J (around 30 ft/lbs) most probably in .22 calibre. At that level, I'd be happy to hunt out to 55 metres. If you are thinking of hunting, my advice is to spend time on the range shooting in all the different positions you expect to hunt from in order to work out you own capabilities at different distances (10 shots out of 10 within 2.5cm). But don't make the mistake of thinking that just because you can hit spinners sitting down, resting your rifle on a bench means you can take shots at live quarry at the same range. I hope that helps.

    Hi Richard , good review as always, what would be the cause of the split group? Human error, pellets or gun .
    This happens to me quite a lot

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Marty. Its hard to say. I usually find that new rifles need a few hundred pellets through them to get everything settled down. And for sure, variance in the quality of pellets can be the cause too. Its worth checking to see if the pellets that go wayward are the same ones each time as it could indicate an issue with the magazine. If you can, try single shot loading to remove any magazine issue in which the pellet is not delivered properly into the breech.
