I first went to GDL back around 1997. I started going there to visit a college friend who I met at San Diego State University. I've been there several times and it was always interesting to visit and explore around GDL. One time the airline had to take a short detour to Puerto Vallarta due to fog at the airport in GDL. They let us get out of the airliner to wait inside the airport.

I was born in Guadalajara but raised in Los Altos de Jalisco, buut I love gdl, I love andares, puerta de hierro, paseo Chapultepec.
But I love Los Altos de Jalisco too. Check out Los Altos de Jalisco, these small towns are really beautiful and peaceful. (San Miguel el alto, Arandas, San Diego, san Julián, etc.) our festivities of every year are the best, it’s an experience y’all should live and see a little more of the jalisco lifestyle and tradition of these towns).

Providencia is huge, the 2 sections that you seemed to showcase were Primera & Tercera Seccións (1st & 3rd sections) both within easy walking distance of Punto Sao Paulo (the area with all the restaurants). I lived there for a year and it is very walkable. Bordered by Av. Pablo Neruda, Av. de las Américas & Av. Montevideo. The 1st and last Avenues that I mentioned each have a Parque Lineal running up their centers, which are great for walking, jogging or biking.
I would also mention that if someone has a car and a bit more of a budget, there are almost too many really nice neighborhoods to list

Thank you for the tips. I'm in CDMX now 2 weeks in with 2 more to go. I'm doing 1-month hits in various places to see which suits me for a longer-term. I'm one of those older people you mentioned but in the states, Europe, and even Mexico my friends have always been a mix of late '30s to late '60s. For my home life, I like quiet with a bit of outdoor space for my little dog. I'm out walking the dog every day and man that starts so many convos. When I leave the house I like activity, bohemian, independent shops, and cafes, green spaces diverse groups of people. Life in general. There's nothing wrong with having some English speakers around. Especially while you're still learning a new language. I'm checking out Guadalajara, Queretaro, San Miguel although I do like being closer to an airport which the first two offer as does CDMX. Tlaquepaque is cool specially cuz the train passes through there, but it’s more on the outskirts of the metropolitan area so you it’s not as nice and upscale as those in the video it’s a lil more hood I guess, the center of chapa Lira is cool, lots of cool cute places with bars, stores etc.

    Nice video guys.
I'm going to be a debbie downer in the comments.
    But I've earned it...
There's way too much trust in the policia (frito bandito). It's not like the police in the US. I'm not a fan of either, but still, very different beasts you're dealing with.
Also, you can get mugged anywhere. Don't be a target and you won't be.
In my experience, it's the cops who do most of the mugging and robbing.
Think of them like hyenas. Keep a distance. Don't incite them. If they challenge you, stand your ground peacefully, but don't submit. Know that they're mostly sniffing for weakness, they'll get bored and go away if you make it clear it's not an easy meal.
Not a respectful analogy, but super useful.
