In short he let money make him weak

Look at Conor in this pre-fight build up: he's mentally sharp, quick-witted, and ruthless towards Poirier breaking him down with every chance he gets. And then look at him in the pre-fight build up against Poirier in the second fight, being friendly and hugging him and shit. He's not the same fighter he used to be, it's hard to be when you're set for life. Conor isn't a savage anymore.
This Conor was done the moment he lost. To be able to talk like that you have to be undefeated. If he hadn't lost for like 2 or 3 more fights, Conor would've reached insane heights. He should've stayed at 145, and defended, it would've been worth more than being a double champ(although I wonder if he had to move to 155 in order to get a match with Maywether), in reality, most people have prob seen Conor lose more than win
If Adesanya had beaten Jan, he also would be entering that crazy space, where you just start to seem like supernatural, because not only are you winning, but you are talking hella shit beforehand and it turns out to be right, people really get caught up in that shit and their fans really start to become true fanatics
