Yea I charge for clean up my time is just as important as there time I know it sounds dumb but time is time at my shop can't make money if not
When I call the plumber, I make sure to dig out and clean the problem area. This keeps the plumber plumbing and not a hundred dollar an hour digger.
I do charge for cleanup because I am charging by time, and if it is really nasty like grease, they get an aggravation surcharge too
Nice repair. I usually charge extra on top of my normal rate for dirty parts. I have gotten some nasty things that work in the land fill and sanitation department.
1:14 - The "good enough" kick, love it!
Ha, you got that right
Your a good man and a hard worker, have a blessed day
Will be doing this job very soon to the old Kubota 2350. Great video.
Second time you popped up in my searches, good stuff. You’re living the dream bud
Well done always learning
Nice job brother !!!! I think the man is pleased with it.
He digged it
Another dope repair!!! 👨🏾🏭💰💯
If you use a 9" grinder with a slitting blade from the other side to a chalk line then you get a clean cut with no slag or rough edge to clean back. I do it all the time, clamp a straight edge to run against is a second method..
I need a 9" grinder
@@mcfwelding I have lots of grinders . I use cutting torches before any thing .I will even burn holes instead of a drill them . And I hate slitting disk . Use when I have to .
Just subbed, love the work man, binge watched a few videos and im hooked.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it
Brilliant people love the videos thank u ❤️👀👀👀👀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
always enjoy your videos, best wishes from Orlando, Florida, Paul
Thanks Paul
i have to fix a few holes on a bucket tomorrow for snow removal. got a lot of fore knowledge bro thanks! im a groundskeeper but ever since i told my boss i went to college for welding and can weld, hes been throwing stuff at me haha . im new to the channel but ill be looking out for mig welding vids hell yeah get er done
Get after it!
Now that you will weld there tell him you want a raise $$$$
Your bucket arm ram seals are worn. During your time laps the bucket arms slowly lower 5:27
Will work for Beer!!! I love it!!
Beautiful work . Did you put a couple of wear strips on the bottom ?
Good job buddy, kind of work i like
Glad you like!
SOUTH JERSEY HERE DUDE!!! I will totally check out a local business to our state!
Jersey!
Also nice repair! Torch, mig , and stick!
The Trifecta
Hope you made yo cutting edge out of AR400 hard plate it will last alot longer also 4, 1/4 in hard plate strips willware good on bottom will be there til cows come home. I use to do that at a mineing out fit on buckets 12 ft wide monster buckets miss that type work .
This bucket will hold up just fine with what I did
I just cut the original cutting edge square, then have a new edge made to fit with bolts. Straighten the bucket drill holes and bolt on.
This is a welding channel though ?
100%. if I get a piece of equipment and I have to spent two hours knocking mud off of it the customer ends up getting a pretty damn expensive car wash.
Man you got me thinkin about startin my own business ... Last time I welded was 2001 ... Problem is my eyes now ... Not sure if i can see the weld lol. Got eye appt lined up. Wish me luck . thanx for the channel dude . really appriciated.
Little late to the party here, but they make “cheater” lenses that go behind your shaded lens. They act like reading glasses, and all the old boys I work with use them. If you can’t see your puddle, that might be a worthwhile $10 investment
@@joelschmaltz8915 I use them to . Get glass the plastic cheaters suck . Also have no Idea why but my speedglass seems to help
@@huckstirred7112 I agree, the plastic ones are only good to test them out and see if you want to spend money on a glass one. Switching to the speefglas also helped a ton for me as
@@joelschmaltz8915 I agree I use a 1.75 cheater The speedglass is incredible
I would have just replaced the cutting edge ,and yes if it comes to me dirty they pay to clean it.Nice repair.
Great
always clean bucket before fixing, friend or not.
consider it weld prep
Nice job!
What wire did you run? .030 er70s? What did you use for wear bar 1/4” mild steel?
.035 wire and the cutting edge was 1/2" i believe
Awesome 👌
Would you mind doing a video on your tractor fork attachment I like the idea and want to do the same to my little tractor.
I'll talk about it in a future vid
defiantly going to charge ,but if its for a buddy maybe just some BBQ and a couple beers. nice channel dude you do some good work!!
just subscribed!
Right on! i sub'd to you too i like your channel
Anything over 1/8” and I use oxy/propane for cutting. Thinner stuff and I use plasma. Oxy/propane is soooo much less expensive than oxy/acetylene. Once you switch, you’ll never go back.
Thought about the switch but I don't use it alot so I already have the tanks
@@mcfwelding I have 2 sets of torches oxy acetylene and oxy propane . I also have a hypertherm powermax 85 . Yes my 36 inch demolition torch is not only cheaper as price to fill the tanks but uses less fuel than my oxy acetylene torch almost as cheap as plasma , By the way My acetylene torch is the same as the one in the vid I believe it is a smith cut quality is no different between plasma and oxy fuel . Except on sheet metal then plasma but yea stay with oxy acetylene much more versatile and better for brazing
Because I am a noob, why stitch welds for the blade and not a continuous weld?
easy removal later whenits worn down, but i am going to weld the whole thing this winter
Good video! Thanks for sharing! New subscriber! 👍
Thanks rudy appreciate it
Me too 🤜🏼🤛🏻
where did you get the cutting edge? My bucket needs the same repair you did on that one.
i think my buddy ordered it online, or a local tractor store should have them
didn't look like you completely welded the top of the new cutting edge? that bad boy is going to fill up with dirt between the cutting edge and floor plate and the new floor will be bowing and seperating in no time
Saw it right off.
That center hook needs some gussets on the back. If it is just welded to 1/8 it bend.
It's lifted some heavy stuff and still holding so....
Dude, Jersey??? I got stuck there 2 years, heads up to Claude Brezina lake Hopatcon
Time is money , can't work for free!!
did you weld new wear bars on the bottom of the bucket?
Nope, bucket sees about 10 hours of use a year. if its a problem down the road i will add some for him
I like how the whole time he’s throwing shade to his friend
All in good fun Flo-rida
I believe everyone but IC Weld owns the same damn needle scaler. Haha, I got the Harbour Freight version. I’m about to grab their pneumatic drill, die grinder, and angle grinder too.
Pistol grip is better. Can get them from northern tool even.
@@motoz3939 thanks for the heads up
Mine is from Harbour freight it's probably close to 5 years old now
@@mcfwelding had a few myself over the years. I prefer the pistol grip one though. Either way one of the best tools for a mobile welder with air. That and an air chisel really.
Your Labour is money! Charge em!
damm i shortened the lift arms too !
What thickness did you end up using for the plate??
1/4"
What about the wear strips on the bottom?
If we need them down the road, we will add them
Question .. why cut the cutting edge with a grinder rather than torch?
could cut with either, that was just easier at the moment
Love your videos man. Keep up the good work. Why don't you wear your pipeliner as often?
Not sure, i usually leave that one now in the car for work so i use the tiger hoods. I am growing more fond of the tiger hood than the pipeliner these days
@@mcfwelding which one is lighter? Also could you do a detailed review on the pipeliner?
How you said it was 5ft then it was 4'11 could that have been cause it sprung on you or just measured wrong at first.
possibly
Side panel could have been warped as well after being but out
Ковш варил полу автоматом. Кромку режущую электродом? Почему?
Yup time is money
I'll do a lot for a case of beer but did your friend pay you for the material or buy it himself, at least? A steel sheet that size ain't that cheap.
He did buy the metal and gave me some $$ for my c25 gas
Looks like an Everlast welder?
sure is
Is up hill easier for you than down hill?
It's all easy with practice
Cutting edges should be fully welded not stitched like that.
When being used, material and rust will force its way between the cutting edge and the floor of the bucket between the welds and start to bend the floor back up.
Hope you don't charge much as won't be long and you will doing all again when the floor is all bent up.
False expenses having to do the job twice.
I agree, I will be fully welding it for him in spring time
Hey now , no need to be insulting . He is obviously not a pro . So if you are lend friendly advice and don't be condescending about it . His welds were ok his cutting was ok . He should have squared the bottom of the bucket using bottle jacks and 4x4s and replaced only 6 inches of the floor with AR 500 plate with 2x2 quarter inch thick angle to tie the sides and the bottom together and triangles with 3 inch legs to fit the back of the bucket . Then cut holes for a bolt in cutting edge so he can swap it out for a tooth bar if needed . and small 2 inch circles of hard face about 2 inches or so apart . I am self employed and done many buckets but I am at 50 years old still learning and will never be an expert
I dont think anyone understands the Case of beer as payment principle. Today you, tomorrow me. Life rewards and punishes with interest so if you do something good life will eventually pay you back and then some. Who knows maybe one day your friend will help you out in a huge way or contribute to your success when he remembers you helping him
case of beer goes a long way
Keep gap to drain bucket when it's wet, lol
lol not a bad idea
YES YOU DO!!!!! ARE YOU WORKING FOR FREE ? THE JOB STARTS ,ENDS!!!!!!!
I mean to be fair. 8th inch probably is thick enough for what you're supposed to be doing with a subcompact tractor LOL
Sure
how long dis this job take you?
About 7 hours
@@mcfwelding hi im looking for welding job.this is my hobby but i want to welding job im at Lyndhurst NJ..Can you help me about welding job?
@@mcfwelding damn slow af
I would charge maybe a little more lol for cleaning lol
how much do you charge $$$$$?
i go over it in other videos
Nice on the blade I see you welded a couple inches stop welded why didn't weld whole length I'm no expert is that for removing cutting blade in case of damage I'm a student in welding school just. Learning but a good job done!
thats the theroy
Why don’t you knock the majority of the slag off with a hammer and chisel or air hammer
Not sure I didn't even think of that
Absolutely charge to clean if they would cut and bust your fire wood then I would clean the bucket no charge
Homem é bom
Sorry man, I didn't really understand why he wanted this repair. I understand why you're doing it, but I didn't get the point of replacing it with the exact same kind of steel (unless you put in AR plate and I just missed it). I saw it was a little bent, but it didn't seem to affect the functionality of the bucket. This isn't a criticism, I just don't understand why anyone would replace a slightly out of shape sheet of steel. No doubt, you explained it and I just missed it, but in case you didn't... Was the original not holding dirt? Is he moving liquids? Seems like you could have put the new steel on top of the old steel and it would have made it stronger and more abrasion resistant.
I guess you don't use tractors to build flat pads and fix driveways that often then
@@mcfwelding he also probably charges extra for those welds 🤣
It’s all by the hr ,cleaning ,preparation and welding . The hard stuff we do easy the impossible just takes a little longer .😎
Charge
Edit: you’ve could’ve hurt yourself….
You’ve could’ve
Boop
I sure hope you used ar plate on the bucket.
Nope mild steel. Bucket gets about 10 hours a year on it so it will last a long time
Friendly suggestions, instead of trimming new bottom plate ,that little amount of overhang will actually enhance the corner wear life. Also you responded the cutting edge was mild steel ,you bought it you should know what you bought,,but by the spark pattern from cutting the edge ro length it looked like high carbon steel and who put the tapered edge on the cutting edge?. You might want to extend future cutting edges and build corners out farther to increase bucket cap. and extend cutting edge life. Otherwise great job ,hope you vote pro 2A !!!
You probably used leftover cutting edge for corner pieces, and wear plates on bottom like the original!!
@mcfwelding does not matter how often it gets used..to it right way first..only a hack that doesn't know what they are doing would put any less then the proper way on their ..not mild steel on it man come on..do it right
A case of beer..... I don't mind helping out friends but theres a limit. Think about All your labor, wire, shielding gas, oxygen, acetylene and rod cost money. You just lost money.
I'm not trying to be an A-hole but (you) have to pay for the stuff you used. Also, I highly recommend using a respirator while cutting, grinding and welding. It will mess you up.
Yeah cleaning those nasty buckets n nasty oil residue not good for the lungs 🫁. You got to charge more than a case of beer fam at least good 300 but they put in the material.
Safety squints when using a needle scaler as well my man! That’s coming from a man that had to undergo 7 eye surgeries because of a wire from a wire wheel flying up under my safety squints!
@@clintonhanson On more than several occasions my hands were pierced by same. I don't play when it comes to wire wheels.
Case of beer from my best friend is all I need.
Ты, че православный?
You should never weld in the street. You might blind kids walking by.
?
that is just plain silly
That’s their fault they shouldn’t look
@@alandonrashall55 By that logic shooting in the street is fine too as you shouldn't walk in front of bullets.
@@mikefiatx19 ok but people don’t go outside and stare at the sun either it’s the same logic
Quit complaining and fix it.
not sure what this means but ok i will haha
If I have to clean it before I work on it depending on the cleaning process y'all charge for it it doesn't belong to me it belongs to you you want it fixed you pay
Yea I charge for clean up my time is just as important as there time I know it sounds dumb but time is time at my shop can't make money if not
