- Hang out with me while I unbox a new Calathea "Purple Rose." It's the first time I'm adding to my calathea collection in more than a year and a half and I'm excited to finally have the space and stability in my collection to bring in a new plant!

I've just rediscovered your channel. I missed seeing your videos as I had followed you till you stopped. I would look for Addy Beez and there would be nothing. Tonight I tried again and this time the A.B. showed up. I learned so much from your journey with your Calatheas. Unfortunately I haven't been very successful. I think I didn't have enough humidity. But you have inspired me to try again.

I agree! My Crimson is recovering and I'm hoping this plant will stay in good shape; I've put it in the best spot in my house with my old favorite, the Dottie, so fingers crossed!
I have this. it is a typical calathea mean-girl for me so far. ( i've had it 6 months or so) lol i did notice that it's doing better since i started giving it more light. it actually pushed out a new leaf (probably accidentally) . but yours looks better than mine did out of the box, so hopefully your specimen will be easy going and stay beautiful.
Wow. Yes. I see that you have not only met but know this calathea quite well! I put this one in the best spot in my house, truly, so we'll see if that's good enough for it or not. I have my fingers crossed but am ready for heartache again, I guess. But I do hope it stays beautiful. The potting medium it came in will work for a few weeks but it doesn't do well in my house over time so I'm sure once I need to repot it--this plant will put me on notice.
The calathea (no matter what it's called) IS really beautiful. I DO love the plants I get from Planterina - but the climate they are grown in down in Florida certainly is different than were they are living here in the great Northwoods! Thanks to your spider mite videos, and humidity tips, I've kept all my calatheas alive. However, am planning to edit the ones down before winter that have been "higher maintenance" for me.
This is a crimson. It’s unfortunate that Planterina has incorrectly labeled their plants again. A lot of sellers are known to do this to help them sell their inventory. This happens a lot in oversea sellers as well. As plant collectors, we need to make sure we do the research before making a purchase. This plant is not a “PURPLE ROSE” and it is a crimson! Planterina has amazing plants but please please please do your research before you you spend money on a plant that costs $10 at a local garden center.
I agree, my Crimson looks identical.
I think it is likely a Crimson, too. However, other retailers are selling Rosys under this name, too. This video will eventually show up in search results and these comments/discussions will help people trying to find out more in the future.

Why don't you ever show your plant room?
I don’t have a plant room anymore. I ended up pulling the plants out and redistributing them due to poor conditions that developed in the old plant room. But I am trying to figure out a new space potentially and if I do-I will definitely show it!

Hello! 😊 I am still around and still have my calathea collection. Life is slowing down a bit finally so I am hoping I can start making videos again soon. I do miss getting a chance to connect with other plant lovers!

I think it is, too. I’ve also seen what I suspect are Rosys being sold under this name as well.
