The moment with the pile of yellow bricks looks to me like the cornfield scene, just after the house 'arrives'. I think she's used the bricks to build a makeshift grave marker/cairn type thing.
It would actually be awesome if the developers of the wizard of oz declared wicked as cannon.
Baum's original stories are canon. The book this is based on did not follow Baum's work exactly, but only peripherally, so it can't actually be canon.
