I was rolling when Gus said whoever made the rule should be publicly stoned 💀
Wasn't public stoning a mediaeval thing?
Fk bro 😂😂😂😂 too funny 😂😂
2:27 is when your old man’s yelling at ya and it starts to get personal 😂 I love it when Gus talks to Paul like he’s still a child 😂👌🏽
When you get to that age, that dominance exist because of that.
I liked it when Gus said to Paul, "Those things on the side of your head are ears", totally classic Gus.
Gus practically putting gal back in his place. I often wonder about gal sometimes with his opinions and how he interprets certain situations according to how he sees things. I do think there are times where gal needs to keep his place in certain situations where there's a disagreement or conflicting views on how a rule is interpreted by the NRL. In my opinion, gal can get a bit hot headed on certain topics when discussing issues on 100% footy. He can be a bit of a smart-arse at times but all in all he's a great bloke and a great legend of the modern game.
I hate Paul Gallen, but every time he argues with Gus I start to like him a little more.
Fuckin hate gal, but I agree. How on earth is it a knock on when the defender pulls the ball out 😂 if he doesn't pull it out he doesn't lose it, simple.
Lol
The momentum of the tackle caused gutho to go from shoulder to arm/ball. He wasn't "playing" at it.
Also at the point the ball comes loose from Liddle it touches gutho. Which a lost flat ball is still a knock on.
A better example would have been when a player plays the ball, places it on the ground and misses it with his foot and walks forward.
That's a knock on and the ball doesn't go forward. Same as this, it comes out as it's contacting gutho.
get over yourself lol the nrl itself said gutho raked it and the decision of loose carry was incorrect@@iluzonist
@@iluzonist strip every day of the week
@@pooddly9637 lol
I can't believe the amount of people saying knock on. It goes backwards after a strip? How is that in any world a knock on? Tackler rakes the ball out, it doesn't matter if it was an intentional action, he grabbed at it because he couldn't grab at anything else and he pulled it free, and it went backwards. It gets picked up, they score. That is four points every time.
Lol
Gus uses '91 GF Laurie Daley example... it is EXACTLY the same as the situation with the Eels, except instead of Gutho collecting the ball, St George did... Gus's own argument was that it should have been play on (exactly as Gal said), therefore the try should have been awarded...
But the ball carry is moving forward, if he loses the ball the ball is still moving forward.
@@effkay3691 That does not matter. Forward, backward, sideways, Gutho is stripping the ball which means he's playing at the ball. It's not a loose carry so even if the ball went forward, Gutho playing at the ball makes it 6 more for the Dragons and the try should have been awarded.
Firstly, the ball was still moving forwards before it hit the ground, and bounced backwards. It's not by a lot, it went backwards relative to the runner, but that doesn't mean it went backwards relative to the field of play. Secondly, if it's deemed a loose carry, which is should be, the moment possession of the ball was lost if it touches or is touching an opposing player and it's still travelling forward, that's already a knock-on before it even gets below the runners waist.
gus is rugby leagues paul heyman 😂😂
Who?
im with paul on this one but i love when they go head to head 😂😂
Try all day, gutho rips the ball out, it goes towards the parra tryline ie backwards from the dragons perspective, Amone swoops in and scores.
I can’t tell if people are trolling or not agreeing with Gus lmao there’s no way there’s this many people that can’t see he’s clearly got his hand around the ball when he rakes it. It’s so clearly a strip and it should’ve been a try and I’m nothing close to a Saint George supporter lmao
Just an old grumpy Gus ranting and not making sense 😂
It’s all the eels fans thinking they won fair and square, even their last try shouldve been disallowed, Moses jumps into two St George plays with no intent at getting the ball and they score, the bunker had too much money on the eels to win.
he lost the ball, knock on, no try.
Regardless of if it's a strip or not it's a try. Either Dragons drop the ball back, play on and try, or it's stripped, play on, try. And I'm a Parra fan saying this.
@@notoriousmigz2427 it was a knock on, if you are a parra fan you have a lot bigger things to worry about bud, get over it.
gus is 1000% right
im publically stoned all the time
This is a welcome relief from my kids endless bickering
Classic example of this 08’ World Cup gf when Benji got the ball stripped and ref called play on Jerome ropati picks the ball up to score!
True aye...that's one call I never thought the kiwis would get in their favour, what a match
5:09 is why I watch this 😂. Good content there Gal
This is like Jerry Springer all over again, except it’s the Australian Rugby League panel version lol 😅😅😅
Gus makes a simple thing so complicated 😂😂😂
No he don’t you just can’t get it processed with your 1 brain cell
gus loses his mind every time he’s proven wrong lmao
I love to see it
Betting agents don't want to pay out on 50/50 calls so you have to watch 5 Min of replys... That's the thing we all forget has changed sport forever
It also why I rarely watch it anymore. bet this bet that, don't forget ya Multi. but. do it responsibly, by giving ya coin to us. yeah right.. .... Look at the 3 games in dispute, what's in common? The 3 teams that got the pineapple were all fighting to stay off the bottom.. those who got the cake, fighting for the top 8.. call me cynical.. ;) If betting wasn't a major sponsor, would it be the same? we will never know.. but. me.. I'm very cynical..
Yep it's the National Rigged League. Bending the rules to fit their agenda.
The acting between these people is getting better with each season.
I come here every week not for the opinion just to hear Gus and Gal argue 😂😂😂
Bring back 90's rules and shoulder change. Next minute you aren't allowed to hit the head in Boxing or MMA and/or Martial Arts and your only allowed body shots.
As an Eels fan...I totally agree with Gus! 😉
Definitely he dropped the ball. It’s simple
No, when it’s an attempted strip it has to be play on whether it goes forward or back. The only time it should be considered a knock on is dependent on which direction defender strips it and retrieves it.
The stripping rule is the most stupid rule in Rugby League
I always thought the ball had to travel towards the opposition goal line to constitute a knock on. I agree with Gus. Back in the day, most knock ons were play on.
forward out the hand
I detest the strip rule. Especially when two players hold a player up while one gets hold of the ball, then the two players drop off so the other can strip the ball.
Gal, please stop interrupting others when they're speaking.
Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe nrl version
Spot on gus
As a Victorian who struggles with the knock on rulings I must say Gus makes sense. If you are tackled and the ball is knocked out then it’s a knock forward. If opposition picks it up it’s play on
I’m with Gus on this. Let’s get back to when the rules were simple & easy to understand (& adjudicate). We didn’t have chicken wings, crusher tackles & hip drops. Geez ! I originally thought the introduction of The Bunker (stupid name btw) could be helpful but nowadays it over analyses every minute detail. Just use it to see if a try has been scored legitimately and let the ref decide everything else- maybe even the touch judges could do a bit to help as well! I know I know many will counter that the game is a lot faster now & we must protect the players (which I’m all for) but seriously if the game continues with all this they should just make it Touch Football! Tipped !!
It's not drop ball rule Gus. The ball went backwards play on every day of the week.
The ball has no momentum in any direction at the point of him losing it, the momentum that makes it look to be backwards is after he loses it into gutho.
Always has always will be a knock-on
I look forward to these uploads every week. Gotta love Gus.
Lmao anywhere else on the field or if there’s another man in that tackle on the legs then it’s a even more obvious strip
This is punditry. This is understanding the game and the media. Why lleague coverage is so far ahead of soccer.
It was a one on one strip, dragons had every right to pick up that ball and score a try like they did. NRL want Parra in finals 💰💰💰
It was a knock on.
Gus has no idea what hes talking about here 😂 it should've been play on after that strip and dragons should've been given a try
He lost the ball and it went backwards. You don’t have to be a physics major to figure that out
I disagree with Gus and surprised gal didn't mention that when they review these situations it comes down to the intent . If the hands racks it out it's a strip. If the hand just slaps it out it's a loose carry.
Shows how divided we are as a species when people get off over drama and fighting conflict
Who ever done this needs to be stoned😂😂😂
Talking about getting publicly stoned, gus was on one here lol
Gus is right, the pressures of social media is bonkers. Theyre all wrong, Gus is right.
Gus is 100% correct here
Gal's had too many head knocks, changes his opinions and wants to argue with Gus.
Gus is correct in every sense, Paul got it all wrong amd when corrected he doesn't listen... he should be fired for not knowing what he's talking about 🤦🤦🤦
What actually constitutes a loose carry these days?
Whatever the bunker, referees, Vlandys or Annesley feel like 😂
Lol Danny Weidler at 3:10 looking so stressed
Gus is right …. Hold the ball securely
Gus The dad Gal His son 🤣🤣
Gus is becoming more and more of a tool.
Gus is a legend 🤣👑💯
Gallen is no competition for Gus. When is Channel 9 going to hire Bennett?
I Argued with Paul Gallen
NRL ....ball hits the ground its a knock on 😂😂😂😂
There are 4 critical matches coming up, that will decide which teams finish 6, 7, 8 and 9 on the ladder ... Check out the video i posted today for all the deets 😉
Don’t lose the ball simple.
That’s why rugby agrees with Gus
Gus is 100% right ... Gal COME ON !! wake up
I agree that it shouldn't be 6 again but I don't think it should automatically become a knock on...i think when a defending player strips the ball legally (1 on 1) and doesn't end up with the ball, it should be play on...if the attacking team get possessions its the same tackle count, if the defending team get the ball it's the start of their set...I agree with Gus when he talks about the pedantic slow motion reviews to see which pixel touched the ball first...if the ref can't tell live then it should favour neither team and be play on and anyone's ball
What about the Lomax head slam that should have been a send off
Ok, they wind each other up for our entertainment WWE styles lol
Gus is right and Gallen does not respect the basic principles of the game - ball security being foundational. This is actually how it always used to be. Modern variations of the stripping rule appeared when some players took advantage of racking a ball when there were multiple tacklers. Gus also said that the ball runner was responsible for holding on to the ball. I imagine that if all the permutations and rule adjustments keep happening then it will all be as confusing as the ruck rules in Rugby Union...no one fully understands those.
That is not a loose carry. A loose carry is when you're making a tackle and your hand or arm that makes the tackle hits the ball or arm of the opposition and he loses possession that is a loose carry.
a strip is your hand wrapped around the ball a forcefully ripping it out of the opponent's harm right?
Who listens to GUS anyways.
@@philipvillarroel8256 One of the basic fundamentals that they once taught juniors was how to carry the ball without someone stealing it - it was your responsibility, a skill that could easily be learnt. We also practised this skill, sneaking up on our mates to dislodge the ball they were carrying. That interpretation has changed over time, protecting the ball carrier more and more. Make it simple.
@@markbowman2890 so your telling me no matter how hard someone rips at the ball it shouldn’t come out?
Lets not forget it’s Jacob Liddle carrying the ball not Pappali.
And interpretation has not changed overtime as long as I can remember if you played at the ball and their was intent to strip play on.
He didn’t just hit the ball he ripped the ball out of his arms.
@@philipvillarroel8256 One on one the basic answer is yes. The problem with multiple tacklers is that the contest is no longer fair. The ball used to be held in a way that it was anchored to the body, accessible at one end only. Gallen said that such methods were too far back in time to be of relevance. For the record, I was smashed by much larger players on many occasions but that was no excuse if I dropped the ball.
@@markbowman2890 buddy being smashed to someone ripping the ball out of your grip totally different! Your sounding like Gus now.
Exactly to far back move forward with the times throwing a punch is forbidden now back then it was applauded.
i 100000000000000000000000% agree with gus on this
Gutherson intentionally strips, Last line of defense on try line every fullback attempts to hold or strip the ball. Disgraceful officiating.
That’s dinosaur 😭😭😭😭
Gus very smart man could listen to him all day best talker in the game .
Yes gus he lost the ball, but he lost the ball backwards…… play on
Let's take a closer look at the ball carrier in this incident.
The ball was loosely held in front of his body when he lost the ball.
A dropped ball in this instance is, and always will be, a knock on.
The ball carriers momentum gives the false impression that the ball was lost backwards.
Had the tackling side gathered in the ball it would have been play on.
Correct initial contact started at shoulder
100% agree with this. At the point the ball comes out, it contacts gutho. Which makes the ball going "backwards" irrelevant. At best it's dead flat and still constitutes a knock on or dropped ball.
No different from playing the ball and no foot touching it. That's a knock-on. Ball didn't travel forward there.
Incorrect.
Liddle still had an arm wrapped around the ball tucked into his body. Gutho has his hand on the ball and makes a clear stripping motion. At no point does it fit the definition of a loose carry. The ball was stripped, Dragons player picks it up and scores, that's a try. Even if the ball went forward, it was a strip by Gutho which means he's playing at the ball and it's 6 more for the Dragons which still makes the try a try.
A loose carry is when a player loses possession of the ball without the tackler playing at the ball which was not the case in this one.
The people saying it's a knock on and a no try, you're wrong. Plain and simple.
@@jacobthorpe4316
I recommend a thorough reading of the NRL laws of the game.
And this goes for everyone thinking the referee got it wrong.
Section 11.8: If, after being tackled, he accidentally loses possession, a scrum shall be formed except after the fifth play-the-ball.
Notes: If a tackled player loses possession of the ball at the moment of impact with an opponent or with the ground, play shall proceed unless stopped
for some other reason
Section 11.9a The ball can be stolen from the player in possession at any stage prior to a tackle being complete when there is only one defender
effecting the tackle.
In a nutshell a tackler can attempt to steal the ball before the completion of the tackle. The ball carrier is responsible for ball security, failure to do so and the ball is lost will result in a scrum to the opposition.
In part I was incorrect, knock on is not actually relevant, it is the loss of the ball in the tackle.
@@jacobthorpe4316 the momentum of the tackle forced his arm down from shoulder to his hand. That's not a stripping motion.
Yes I'd say if he was still standing and doing that I'd say it was stripping. But it wasn't intentional.
If u play free fantasy sports this can be good to check out just to get different perspectives .
Classic leg up call for parramatta, play on try all day
I agree with…..why come out on Monday. I don’t agree, it should have been play on, try to the Dragons 🐉
Gal you are right? Gus listen
Umpires can change the course of a game and they do it all the time and they do it especially if it looks like one sided affair. Look at the Rabbitos vs the Sharks in Perth where the majority of crowd were Rabbitos supporters, omg the Sharkies are winning and the NRL money making venture to Perth looked in jeopardy. Another example I heard on 4BC radio the other night where a senior umpire is talking to a field umpire and he tells him that the last six penalties have gone to one side and to be aware of that fact... why would he say that ?.
I honestly think if your tackling someone front on and go for strip and ball comes loose should be a strip 6 again, if your tackling from the side or behind, and the ball comes loose that should be considered as a loose carry, knock on. You lost the ball easy. Might be hard to ref that but at least there’s some sort of understanding on the ruling on it. It’s annoying for fans and obviously Gus and gal 😂
Just make it like the NFL. You're the ball carrier, it's your responsibility to not have it lost or stolen.
Gus and gal both have great arguments. Gus truly does live in the past "public stoning" haha
Leave Gus alone Gal
Gal trying to help the sharks
Gus has little clue, at least based on this. The strip rule is a pain, but much better than thr alternative... Having lived in an era where little halfbacks (like Alfie Langer) used to steal the ball when there was 2 or 3 others in the tackle, it was horrible to watch, leave the rule the way it is, even wih confusion its better than it used to be
I'm with gal, the ball when backwards it's a try
Gould stitches up Annesley. Good one Gus! 👍
Gus might need to go get his eyes checked. How the hell anyone could possibly try to say that's not a strip is beyond me. He literally reaches straight for the ball (don't give me some BS about he was "reaching for the shoulder and slipped" that's utter bollocks) grabs the ball, and rips it out.
Yip agree play on.
Gus you are a goose
Gus 10-7’d Gal on this one 🤘🥳
Carrying the ball in the wrong arm...rookie mistake
The only thing I can think of is in the process of raking ... the ball went forwards (in the air) but then bounced back so it gave the illusion of going backwards. Its a hard gig as a referee because these guys get 2-3 days to ponder, analyse decisions ... the boys in the box get 1 minute and many times it isn't as straightforward as Gus suggests.
It doesn't matter if it goes backward or forward. Gutho stripping the ball means he's playing at the ball so it's not a loose carry. Even if the ball goes forward, Gutho playing at the ball makes it 6 more for the Dragons and the try still should have been awarded.
I agree with Gus.
As a dragons fan i had no problem with it. That's just classic rugby league.
Sorry Gus, I'm with Gal on this one...😊
I agree with Gus, its a damn knock on, regardless if the player has taken one or two steps, I dont get half of the new rules, Im 69, played footy from J Grade up to Seniors, today its like Im watching a totally different game, the way the game is going, what use to be a 80 minute game will eventually be a 3 hour game, like American Football.
Gus is spot on absolutely spot on
Great try saving play.
Unfortunately it was a try saver by the Bunker
knock on any day of the week unless it was billy slayer or cameron smith.
I hate to say this, but on this one occassion, I actually agree with Gus. He dropped the ball, so knock on 👍😁
Play on every day of the week.
Liddle tried to change hands with the ball while being tackled and loses the ball. Loose carry all day
What the hell are you watching?
Well said gus
One of the few times I agree with Gus. No try
