  • How I trim moss in my planted tank nature aquarium aquascapes. Aquascaping with moss is a great way to make the aquascape look mature but it can be challenging to maintain. Maintenance is simple using this technique, which minimised the risk of any moss floating away.
    Let me know in the comments if you have any aquarium moss maintenance trimming techniques!
    Keep on 'scaping,

    Moss is so beautiful in an aquarium when it is lush, green, healthy, and trimmed nicely. Your tanks are so beautiful.

    Sure you know but you can put your finger over the end of the hose to stop the siphon when there is nothing to suck up,I do it when I change water in my tank, stir the bottom up a bit to get the muck free and then take my finger off the end to siphon it up.

    Thanks for the tip. I let it float to the bottom and use a net to take out the trimmed parts but your idea looks better.

    That's inspired! I've always been a bit slack on trimming my moss, because it always ended up going everywhere, and then lodging and growing where it shouldn't. I'm definitely going to be trying this out; thanks George!

    Hi George. Yup I keep moss 7-8 different types right now and always looking for more. The java moss I just rip it out but the other moss I trim and attach to plastic sheeting and cultivate for the next project

    I love chaotic moss I only trim it when it starts to cast shade over other plants. I then collect the clumps i trim and add it to a different place or tank 😊

    That hose is an excellent idea!
    I'm really not so great at trimming plants, but with the moss I don't mind that at all, because more moss remains for the shrimp to dwell in, and the way it's placed on my red moor, it looks more and more like a willow tree as time passes. Same reason why I never remove algae from wood, it just looks like a more natural, nicely dated miniature tree trunk.

Are these 'wild collected? if so, which types of wood are good and how do you prepare them.could this be an idea for longer techniques video. cheers. Keep on scaping.! Two good questions what is the set up you have on that hose you’re using. Also why does your tank not have plastic trim on top and bottom is it a custom tank. Other than there’s two questions this is an amazing video

    Do you just have a filter sock on the end of the hose then put the water back into the tank when you are done.

  • @ChinmeshManjrekar
    @ChinmeshManjrekar Před 6 lety +2

    I hear everyone saying java moss is the easiest plant in aquarium hobby, so i got my self some, but its been more then a month now, not a single extra branches from the moss i put in my aquarium, on the other hand, its all turned brown, i have shrimp in which clean it, but the color is turned to brown( was bright green first when i bought), water parameters are fine, 40 watts led lights ( 8-10 hours a day ), 20 gallon tank, enough flow in the tank, and the temperature is 33-34 degree Celsius ( its summer heat ), so is it because of the temperature my moss is dying ? or could it be something else ?

    • @GeorgeFarmerStudios
      @GeorgeFarmerStudios  Před 6 lety

      Probably the high temperatures is causing issues. Most moss prefers cooler water. I run my tanks 22-24C

    • @denisepollitt1021
      @denisepollitt1021 Před 3 lety +1

      The more you trim, the denser it grows. Like any plant, if you don't prune it gets leggy and sparse in certain areas.
