Yeah buts it’s a start, fix the police system and fix the DA office, but you need both not one or the other. The city definitely needs to address its progressive criminal justice system if it wants to enforce rule of law and reduce crime.

SF funding priorities are all screwed up. Public safety (police & fire) should be first. All the money they're spending now on "revitalizing" the downtown and all the other 'feel good' stuff should be put off until they can actually afford it. If residents and merchants don't feel safe they aren't gonna revitalize anything and for the most part tourists are going elsewhere as it is after all the bad press. Just look at the current event at Moscone - all the food is being served on-site inside a huge security zone so there's no reason for attendees to to even leave the venue, this is a big loser for local businesses. And quit throwing good money after bad on all the hobo problems. Hire enough officer to properly staff SFPD, nothing can flourish until crime and the endemic doper/tweaker problems are addressed.

And if they make it through that process how many will actually complete the academy. Then for every new recruit you get you’ll get 2x the amount of officers retiring. Also you’ll be wasting all this money through each recruits process when psychologist fail perfectly good recruits.
