I live in farmland down south of Morgan Hill. And every weekend, trucks like this come by and dump somewhere in our neighborhood and they do it at night when everyone is sleeping and since our house is 500 ft off the road, you never hear them do it. Drive down the street and bam, new pile of garbage. It takes about a week for it to get cleaned up and Piles that end up in front of my house I end up cleaning up and running to the dump just to get rid of it since sometimes they pull up into my field and dump it and if its not on the city street, I get stuck with the bill of cleaning it up. And it sucks, it costs money to dump and I am having to pay someone else's bill. I think it should be a high fine and minimum 30 days in jail for the first offense, and double it on the second, then give them a year for the third and remove their drivers license and make them wear ankle bracelets so they can be tracked. Its a huge problem, 34 million pounds of illegally dumped garbage just in Oakland, what about all the other cities around it? And companies like this do rent out their trucks, especially if business is slow and they need money to make the payments on those trucks. Its a risk yes with insurance, but sometimes you have to do it to make ends meet and pay the bills. It sucks for them if someone like this uses it to do something illegal because everyone will blame the business instead of the driver. SO this tree business will lose business because someone rented his truck committed a crime and he will pay for it just like we all paid to have that mess cleaned up.

Yeah , High fines and jail time sounds great .I live in unincorporated Sonoma County.Beautiful scenic roads through vineyards, orchards and pastureland...'til you round a corner and see a couch, pile of tires, tree limbs,5 gal buckets of used oil , giant flat screen TV's. Maybe if you're lucky a water heater, fridge or an old beat-up camper shell. These people are ignorant slobs that can't handle the responsibility to do the right thing . They could give AF about what or where they dump. Their idea of "paying it forward" is to have someone else clean up their ship.

These Companies should Definitely be held accountable. They hire the drivers, tell them to make the junk go away and don't bring it back. You can bet if there was accountability, they would be registered as frequent violators, who see Oakland as a "go to" dumpsite, and with the gentleman filming the act, got caught this time. Years ago, public dumps were accessible to all, and the problem wasn't as prevalent, as now. Fees to dump have gone crazy high, that's if what you're dumping qualifies for that particular dumpsite. How about those billion some odd gallons of toxic liquid substances (including raw sewage) that got dumped into San Francisco bay and surrounding waterways last week. Think about how tough it was to determine how much, and for how long that has been going on, and more importantly, who cleans up that toxic mess, as it makes its way into your ground water table .
