    just did this the first time before watching and I'm glad the sail seems to be always a bit under one side of the mast.

    Looking at tips after being stranded in F7 winds today. I didnt realise that my poor downhaul and outhaul settings effected the controlability of my sail soo much. cheers

    Nice Video, I introduce people to the proper nomenclature..."rope" is for landlubbers, Line is for sailors...The rope-I think it is the "downhaul"....etc.

  • @Pokekevin
    @Pokekevin Před 11 lety

    Yes. around the number is about right depending on how much of a pocket you want on the sail

  • @TheFireblade1000RR
    @TheFireblade1000RR Před 9 lety +1

    I wish you would elaborate more on why doing certain things, like why do you expand the boom exentions, why not leave it as is, when using the same sail. Also how much tension on teh ropes and so on.

  • @raymanuva
    @raymanuva Před 11 lety +1

    It all depends on the manufacturer and a size of the sail also (camber/non camber)
    But the procedure i ussualy.
    Open camber pockets
    Insert Mast
    Downhaul to the point where the sail is streightenned.
    Max outhaul
    Puch cambers in, close pockets.
    Downhaul at max

  • @gulubdur
    @gulubdur Před 11 lety +1

    The sail will tell you how long the boom has to be right?

    I can safely say ive never rigged up a sail by removing the manufacturers packaging if your lucky enough to buy new😂

  • @andyandsam1

    How much would a full rig like this cost?

    • @yuriydeynekin4532
      @yuriydeynekin4532 Před 5 lety

      It depends, and the range is wide - depending of percentage of carbon, brand name and etc.. Mast ranges from ~$200 to ~$500, boom - $150-$400, sail $250-$650, small parts (extension, base) ~$100. You may get a full set at Isthmus Sailboards for ~$1300. But if you are a beginner you may save a lot of money if you hunt for a second hand stuff, in this case prices may be pretty symbolic.

    if i have an 4.5 sail what kinda boom do i need

    • @tonymind308
      @tonymind308 Před 6 lety

      Minemade you need to check the sail and adjust the boom to required length :)

    • @davidshifflet4428
      @davidshifflet4428 Před 4 lety

      It should be on the sail as well as the luff length (length of mast.) Probably about a 150 cm boom.

  • @leviburtt
    @leviburtt Před 13 lety

    • @tonymind308
      @tonymind308 Před 6 lety

      leviburtt used without board about 300£ in decent condition. I bought one set of everything for 400£ 550€

    Turkey. You adjustment was one for heavy one for light. Doesn't explain the first thing about wind flow... Better have been the lottery son... You can stay selling boards.

    Naah! This is all wrong. The best way to rig any sail is, to sit back with a drink and a tasty snack and have one's butler to do it.
