In this Dye Time, I hand paint and speckle a new to me, unusual plant based fibre; pineapple! I used the same dye with these two techniques to hopefully create an interesting colourway, that wasn't solid. This was a very interesting experience and the whole way through, I kept saying to myself "I can't believe this is made from pearl!"
Fibre reactive dyes can be used on plant based fibre and animal based fibres. Acid dyes can only be used on animal based fibres.

I have a monthly yarn subscription that can be purchased through my Patreon: / fromthecauldron Each month you'll receive 100g of yarn in your chosen weight dyed in a mystery colourway and some goodies made by other small businesses. Another perk for Patreons is they get early access to the video where I dye that month's yarn and they get to vote for next month's theme.

I'm wondering if it's made from the leaves of a pineapple plant? Because I know if you tear them apart they're quite fibrous and stringy, I could see that being something good to make fiber out of. Gorgeous yarn by the way!

I don’t know. It’s only about 12g, so probably a swatch! I might try combining all my unusual fibres and make a hat.
