- In this week's video, we talk about my street photography style, I've mentioned some of these aspects before, but since this is a frequent topic, I think it's better to compile all the information in a single video so I can point people to it and hopefully answer their questions and help them in their journey. Let's talk about my shooting style, my shooting process and my craft values.

Great video, Jorge. I especially like the part about being respectful toward others. Important message.
Absolutely! It's a key element in life. Thanks for watching and for sharing a comment, Dastan! 🙌🏼✨
Came across your channel today mate. I'm mainly a landscape photographer with a keen interest in street. Really love the way you present your thoughts and views. Very balanced and mature opinions.
Thanks for your kind words, friend. Just trying to make the types of videos I needed to watch before I got started and helping others out there. I would say just do it, give it a try and see how street photography feels!
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share a kind comment as well! I appreciate it! ✨🙌🏼
Like your videos. I found you not long ago. I am still learning about photography even having been working for more than 60 years at it. 10 years plus working as a stringer for two weekly news papers, stock photography, wedding photography there is always more to learn. Again like the information you share.
That is awesome! It's never too late to learn and grow, and if it makes you happy, then the more reason to give it a try!
I think sharing experiences and the thought process can help quite a bit, if anything it lets you see things from a different perspective! What are you shooting with currently? curious to hear your thoughts.
I hope the video was useful or entertaining, thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to share a comment as well, Charles! Cheers 🙏🏼✨
Really enjoy and learn from your videos Jorge...keep it up !!!!!! Absolutely agree with your thoughts and values 👍
Just discovered your channel Jorge and it is great. Your intake on photography is quite refreshing and relaxing. You just got a new subscriber :). Keep the good work !!
Make sense. Good video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to share a comment as well! Cheers 😁🙏🏼
Nice video and content. I found myself having to pause the video and rewind to listen to what you just said, because I was still thinking about the last thing you said. I mean that as a compliment.
Great video and a great philosophy 😊👍
Thank you! 😃 I appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your thoughts as well! Hopefully it was useful!
Loving the content, Jorge! I think you should make a video of scenes scenes that have inspired your photography journey. Perhaps comparing the scene looks, atmosphere, or even feel with your own photographs would make for a fun video.
Thanks for the idea! I might a do a couple ones with my black and white photographs since it's a little easier to compare, or even might shoot some new ones in colour to make a video about as well! Good stuff!
Thanks for watching, Miguel! I really appreciate you taking the time to share a comment, Cheers 🙌🏼😁
Really enjoy your stuff, Jorge. I found your channel whilst researching the X100 (I've since bought the original 2011 model), but your delivery style and your insights have kept me clicking through lots of your other videos. Keep it up! It's really appreciated.
Welcome aboard! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words, Daniel, I really appreciate it.
Just trying to share some of my experiences and hopefully bring value to others out there. How's the X100 treating you? Curious to hear your thoughts about it! Cheers! 🙌🏼✨

Nice video
Hopefully it was useful or entertaining! thanks for watching and for leaving a comment as well! I appreciate it 🙌🏼
Great video, thanks. One think bothers me though. I don't agree with your final comment; that all people deserve respect. It does not work like that. Respect is earned. I don't respect everyone and certainly not a stranger who I have never met and could be a total asshole. However, I do think other people should be approached in a friendly or decent manner, as I would like to be approached in the same way. But that is something completely different!
Interesting to hear your thoughts, I think I completely understand what you mean, the way I see it, I approach this almost like how the legal system works in North America, innocent until proven guilty.
Of course, if you have proven that you don't deserve that respect, then we can adjust and course-correct along the way. I do agree respect is earned, but in my particular examples about street photography, I'M the one who visits their countries, I'M the one who intrudes in their culture, so if they want their photo deleted or things like that, then I'll gladly comply, there's no point getting people riled up just for a photograph.
Whatever flies in Canada or the US, does not necessarily work in the rest of the world, but overall I do understand your point and agree with it as well. I wish I was able to articulate my stance better in the video.
Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts as well, Peter, I really appreciate it! 🙏🏼✨
I love your content and knowledge man. Thank you for sharing.
I have to ask you one thing since I noticed that almost all your photos on Instagram is in landscape orientation. Is that on purpose and what’s your thought on this? What’s your thoughts regarding portrait orientation and when to actively you it…?
Best wishes from Sweden 🇸🇪 🙌🏼
Yes! haha, I mainly shoot in 3x2 or 16x9.
The idea is to simulate a frame from a movie, so I don't take portrait orientation photos often. I think it really depends on what you're trying to capture and achieve, for people taking headshots and doing product photography then the portrait orientation makes complete sense, even for some street shots too.
Regardless of the orientation, the one thing I try not to do is to crop images, very rarely I'll crop to 2:40.1, which is the cinemascope aspect ratio. but other than that, I try to get it in camera. Although I've taken a couple portrait photos and photos in the portrait orientation, I'll probably never post them on Instagram.
This is just my preference, not saying this is the only way to go, but this is what works for me, I think your photography style and goals will dictate what you do, your settings, and your approach to the craft.
Thanks for watching and for taking a moment to share a kind message, Daniel! I really appreciate it man, cheers 🙌🏼✨
Very interesting answer@@Jorge-Perez! Thank you for explaining 🙏🏼 ❤️
I really would want to explore street photography, but I'm primarly a landscape photographer.
I guess that I'm capturing more city scapes than anything else. I'm very uncomfortable taking pictures of people that didn't agree to it in the first place. I'm fine with portraits and event photography, I've done a few events and everytime, people there were knowing that you're the photographer of the event, so they're ok with it. I don't have a lot of opportunities of doing street work, most of the time that's during commute, people are stressed, they just want to go from point A to point B, and that's just not the right time to snap a picture I guess.
Interesting to hear your thoughts! 🤔 It really depends on what you're trying to achieve, in my case, in order to be able to showcase the relationship between character and environment, you need both.
We could say that landscape photography is one side, and portraits are another side. What I'm interested in, and what I'm trying to achieve is to showcase the relationship between both.
But I completely understand how it makes some people feel, and how uncomfortable it can be, don't push yourself too hard. Do things that you enjoy and fulfill you. Thanks for watching man! I appreciate it 😁🙌🏼
