  • In this week's video, we talk about finishing my photobook, and we talk about Blurb and some of the lessons learned with this whole printing process and project as well.
I am excited to announce that a digital version of my photo book: Streets of Japan is available for purchase, I won’t be selling a physical book for the time being. So for those of you that are interested in picking one up and contributing to the channel, you can do so as of today.

Jorge! Thank you for showing and walking us through this amazing process! This is one of my long term goals for photography. Can you share or maybe create a video on how you choose the photos you did? =)

Glad it was helpful! I do have a couple videos where I mention blocking and sequencing, but not entirely dedicated to that, you can watch some of these:

I hope the video was useful, thanks for watching and for taking the time to share a comment as well! I really appreciate it 🙏🏼✨

Nice video, Jorge. I've self-published a few photography related works of mine. Two were through Blurb and one through a company called ZNO. Each had their pros and cons.
I agree that one should reflect on the "why" of creating a photobook before actually doing it.

Jorge, I noticed that you used the 23mm prime lens for your stay in Japan. Do you find using spot photometry is more recommended for that particular lens? I am a hobbyist and still at times have difficulty getting a decent shutter speed when shooting aperture priority. However, love that camera though.

but, what about just selling it using the blurb bookstore? that way you dont have to print up a bunch of books before they are sold. have you thought about that, and how much would you get from doing that way? I just went to your online store. If you are going to only release a digital version of you book, it is currently way too high in price!! that $20 price tag is more appropriate for a softcover physical copy, but for a digital copy it should be around the $10 mark if you want people to actually purchase your book.

I thought about blurb distribution, but the shipping cost is too high, $20 shipping alone, and if you're outside of the US then the recipient will pay import fees as well. It's not worth it when you consider that it's almost impossible to keep soft covers under $50, at least from Blurb.
I'll consider dropping the price of the digital version, but at this point, I'm not interested in selling a bunch of copies and making money that way, not really feasible. The digital version exists just for people who like what I do, feel like I offer value with my videos and would like to support the growth of the channel, the number of people purchasing, under those circumstances, will always be fairly low.
And since I'm against selling luts, digital courses and other types of snake oil, this seems like a fair way to let people support if that's what they want. But I get what you mean, Do you have experience selling thought blurb? Curious to hear your thoughts if you have.
Regardless, Thanks for watching! and for taking the time to share a comment as well! I appreciate your insight and suggestions! Cheers 🙌🏼✨
