  • TRYING DURIAN FOR THE FIRST TIME // MUSANG KING
First of all, we would like to thank to BeTouristMY Information & Service Centre for organising such a unique trip and inviting so many different nationalities from around the world to discover Raub in Malaysia.
This day was full of adventures and of course more food…haha.
Starting our day with Malay Traditional breakfast, going on a 4x4 for the first time and driving up to a waterfall hidden in the jungle was just a few activities that we accomplished during this day.
Now onto our best experience of the day - trying durian for the first time! Woooow! Micha didn’t quite like it as much as Justina did. But hey ho - now we are proud to say that we tried the best of the best durian - Musang King Durian. We also witness the oldest standing Musang King Tree in Malaysia that was planted by a very kind man 32 years ago.
What a great day…we are sooo sad that our Raub experience has come to the end but it’s safe to say that we are definitely recommending Raub as a foodie destination filled with beautiful landscape and charming locals.

Some people do dip the kaya toast into the half boiled egg before eating. Durian taste fragrant and sweet for me but it depends on the variety/breed. Some taste sweet, some bitter, some alcoholic and etc. Durian is also high in calories and vitamins. Kinda like energy food especially for vegans/vegetarians. I'm happy u guys had fun here in Malaysia. P.S. if u guys like adventure, check out Gua Tempurung (Tempurung Cave) exploration in Ipoh Perak. Its basically going through the cave.

about 3-4 years back, an average income family can affordingly purchase about 3 fruits of the premium durian variety, and about 5-6 fruits for the standard local variety, but now we can only sniff it for the aroma, as the prices have currently ridiculously soared high.it"s become a luxury indulgence for the rich, while the poor have to reduce their cravings for this all time favourite, unless they have the means to splurge.

Musang King grades according to Malaysia Department of Agriculture:
A grade : weighs at least 1.5kg & above. has a nice well rounded shape. pulps available in every segment. best value for money.
B grade: similar weight to A but has an odd shape, thus less pulps.
C grade: tiny MK weighs 1kg & below.
the wholesale direct from farm prices last July (2019) for Musang King:
    A RM25 per 1kg
    B RM15 per 1kg
    C RM10 per 1kg
use the above grading & prices as guidance when buying Musang King. we should expect the prices to be at least half or double more in the market

Alas, I'm familiar with all the places featured in this video. And don't worry, despite being Malaysian, I didn't know Raub exist until I get posted for a job here haha. Too bad you left Raub without trying Pak Harun chicken satay. It's super yummy!

Hey there! Ahhh, yeah. That was actually on our agenda but the team that was organising everything said that the restaurant they wanted to take us to - was closed.. ;/ Something like: Obama's Satay?

musang king is totally in a different level for me personally. It tastes so much better than the other type of durians and it is the most expensive one.

I do believe you. It was pretty good even though we never ever tried any other kind of durian. But we are so blessed being able to eat fresh durian just right there at the farm 🙏

Well, I don't eat Durian even though I'm myself a Malaysian so yeah, as you said in this video its all about individual's preference. Not hated it nor I loved it. Anyways, nice vlog as usual. Really enjoyed all of your vlogs! #CheersToFreedom

If you try it a second time, you WILL like it. Seriously. Happened to a lot of people. They fell in love with durian after 2nd, or maybe 3rd time.

It's great that u got to taste the fresh durian.. the one that sold at roadside stall would have been there for days and start to fermented.. thus it's has stronger smells and alcoholic taste..
