    How to open a durian:
    The easy way:
    1. Buy only the flesh from the supermarket.
    2. Get the seller to make a small cut for you before you take the fruit home.
    The DIY way:
    1. Observe the pattern of the thorns and look for the parting (like the parting of the hair)
    2. Hack a deep cut along this line. The durian would crack a little.
    3. Insert your fingers through this cut and rip apart the shell like the way you would rip apart a cabbage.
    4. The fruit would appear beautifully in its own pod (not like the guillotined version that Kimmel made).
