Lars Andersen: Impossible Fun Archery and why archery changed

- In February I did a new trick every day.
Some asked why do different forms of archery instead of proper archery?
But that is the wrong question, the real question is: why have we ended up believing in a single type of proper archery?
we know that historical archery was very varied and in most cultures archers trained many different variations and no one back then would understand proper archery
For example in the book Arab archery it is written an archer must have 4 bows: one for war, one for train, one for target, one for trick.
Until modern times, there are still different variations of archery
but after archery is thrown out of the Olympics after 1920
The outcast archers then standardize archery in 1931 which is smart to make a modern sport
They decide to use the English round colored target that everyone knows today and that has become iconic for archery
Anders Hovgaard Møller says "the round colored divided target is an English garden game invented somewhere after the year 1500 by the English upper class, who also invented a number of different games such as tennis, polo and croquet.
The colors for croquet are the same that were used for their archery game.
Bede Dwyer suggested to me that it was actually the Hollywood movie "The Adventures of Robin Hood" that really popularized archery in this new standardized form and at the same time made everyone, including me, believe that the round colored target was the widespread historical target
So this movie may be where the widespread perception of propper archery arises
In Denmark, where I live, archery started with clubs in the years after this film, if so it is certainly a reasonable explanation that the film created the modern perception of proper archery
we never know the truth about history, and it is probably more complicated how archery became standardized and how some began to believe that real or propper archery exists.
Remember archery is really many different things and it can be more fun to do many variations
Sincerely
Lars - Sport
I will never get over the fact this man can curve his shots
Like the movie wanted but with arrows.
You should check out some of James Jean's trick shots
Yea man it is crazy how he does what he does.
Checkout James jean too, he does really cool long curves
Bro maxed out the archery skill tree
Imagine lars hunting someone
"dude did you close the door?"
"yeah we're safe"
"did you cover the keyhole?"
"no why?"
"Oh Shit"
I came here before someone ruins your joke by pointing out keyholes aren't usually that big these days, to tell that future person this is a joke not a documentary.

You're the Hero I didn't know I needed
@@aspielm759 i love your answer XD
Just don't leave a widow open. The arrows are just around the corner.
Hahahah true!
This man is a beast, almost 60 years old and still blowing my mind.
😱😱😱he looks like i'm his midle 40s
this can't be right
Is this real or are you just really really bad at guaging age with your eyes
@@Madi_Ernar @gerardomartinez8000 Check on wiki. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_Andersen_(archer)
He was born on 8 November 1964
I hope he has passed this knowledge on. As it would mean archery would be lost again if he passed. Your incredible Lars
He does teach archery
no one passed him anything, it's all in the old books
@@theforgeofblood try harder, peasant.
If you can't find other people doing similar thins to Lars, i guess you are just hopeless.
That is so true! At my archery club, a couple of us when practicing hang tennis balls on the targets at 30 meters, ping pong ball and really small felt pom-poms . Small balloons. Somtime kids are shooting a round target face at 10 meters, we go and hang a Balloon to have them hit it. You should see the commitment and the joy when they finally pop it and we all cheer. Archery needs to be fun and also a serious process when you want to get really good. I shoot my bow for hour at a target face and my arrows are all over the place. Hang a tennis ball at the same distance and all of a sudden I am grouping in the middle of it the size of a dime! 🤷♂️😅👍👊🎯
That last sentence is so true! When i shoot at a target face i get frustrated with my groupings, but when i shoot at a tennis ball I'm able to hit it quite consistently.
"but remember to do it safely"
While Lars is hanging upsidedown shooting a lit sparkler
This shows how one's way of thinking is the most significant factor in manifestation. Action is just what follows one's mind. No wonder why Lars is the most amazing archer in the Archery world. Not only the level of skill is formidably unbeatable but his joyous mind and mature attitude is inspiring. Salute to the best of best and a GOAT.👏👍
Its physics and creativity, manifestation is not real
I think Larse has Opened his third eye and has effectively trained to utilize it for his archery, by using precognition to know exactly where the tip of the arrow will hit before he has even released it, hence the sheer precision // the books he read about the Saracens & Mamelukes had Sufi mysticism in it & they also just like the Ottomans utilized those esoteric teachings in conjunction with their archery
he might've done something similar for the sole purpose of hitting stuff
God damn crystal sniffers
When we also see him do something like shoot a 30 arrow 300 round barebow at 70m we can talk about GOAT.. until then he's merely an admittedly impressive trickshot artist with disregard for history and safety.. Respect him when he shows respect.. for safety, for the actual history, and for the sport.
@@StevethecavemanLive Static shooting at targets? Oh you mean that past-time invented for old victorian ladies?
Lars is exactly the person I want to have on my team when the zombie apocalypse starts.
Sorry to burst your imaginary bubble but it never will. Litterally impossible things don't happen.
@@Stance1988 It was a joke :)
Well I don't know about that, have you seen the opioid crisis with flaka? It's pretty bad and similar to that somewhat.
Lars is a joke. It's easy to be so “skilled” when you use a bow with a draw weight for a child.

@@bruno4299 Well then, we are all looking forward to your new YT archery channel where you demonstrate for ZeWelt how easy and quickly you acquired said skills. 😊
This dude’s joy after shooting trick shots is just precious. Never lose your yay.
Never cease to impress
He is back!!
Great work educating about mostly forgotten ways of archery
This is the product of passion, dedication, and skill.
As an Indian, I wish to thank you for preserving archery teachings of Mahabharat 🇮🇳
World class archer. Love your content!
There are so many archery skills mentioned in Indian epic ‘Mahabharata’. We thought those were just myths, but now he proved anything can be possible.
There was a situation mentioned in that Epic, where the great teacher ‘Dronacharya’ fired arrow after arrow making a chain of arrows to bring out a ball fallen in a well. I am waiting for Lars to recreate that 😊🙏🏻
Bruh thats now even possible, and if you think one element of fiction being possible makes it right then you should believe in avengers then
@eshaal1239 I was thinking breaking an arrow in the air with another arrow is also a fiction, but he made it possible.
but hought hinduism isnt fake despite believing that
@@eshaal1239 If a myth proven true then it is not a myth anymore. Mahabharata was really happened 5000 years ago and Lord Krishna was true God
Ever since I found this channel, and whenever I revisit to watch a video, I find myself lost in thought while walking through the woods, thinking "Man ... I wish I could visit Mr. Andersen and learn how to use a bow. Just like that." It's ... I don't know. Seems like breathing for the soul, so to speak.
Still as badass as ever I see, cheers Lars!
Your work and research into archery is truly inspiring!
I want to see Lars joining those "save bow battle royale" game, like imagine the kids there getting sniped by a curve shot, that'd be amazing
Your content is always much appreciated. New material great anticipation.
Please upload more a lot of your videos ..
AMAZING BROO... 😱

absolute legend
I want to see him do so these shooting tricks live. He probably tried each trick 1000 times before video capturing the right one
Lars is an amazing archer. Hand/ eye coordination is bar none
I wish he upload more often
Youre amazing thanks for making videos to this day
I love your technik🏹
I love this guy I think he is 100% right in his vision of archery.
insane
Internet wake up, Lars dropped another video
Wonderful video
Welcome back master!
God of Archery
lars seems too be in incredible shape for his age, very healthy looking
Lars is hands down the greatest of all time!!!!
In target shooting we practice the same shot over and over, minimizing variables, and perfecting. It's very fun!... but Lars be swinging from trees, 360 no scope, hanging upside, curving shots, and making it look super fun. This is passionate mastery.
Target archery is boring af
@@ferdtheterd3897 Nope. You are 100% wrong.

Amazing.
This is great
Dude, i wish i could be your student or find a teacher like you!! :(
Love your archery videos I think I could good just as good as you because I been shooting primative bows and arrows for many years aka 8-9 years
Lars Andersen is the real life John Wick of archery.
Esse é o cara!!!!
I love this don’t listen to the cretics Keep it up 👍
The shots are so impressive! But I am wondering how many attempts Lars tried for each trick shot.
probably thousands over the span of years, but that's how one becomes a master!
he does difficult shots three times in a row, like through a keyhole, so you know it's not cherrypicking.
How about the shot at 0:45?
I dont believe he makes every shot at first attempt, but he has uploaded a video where he shots 7 arrows in a row trough a keyhole. Might take some attempts, but still crazy.
El mejor arquero del mundo.
Kang bisaan pisan manah teh ey kumaha hayang bisa kitu latihanna😁😁😁
Maybe is even possible that olimpic archery evolves to this kind of stuff
gold medal in tossing crushed cola cans into the air with your feet and shooting them at close distance..
Sign me up!
I’d love to get a bow similar to his, appears to be 30lbs at full draw so you’d be able to shoot all day and not tire out. Could be fun to have a trick shot bow, and a fighting bow too.
Just imagine, an airsoft/paintball style arena but with bows instead and the arrows have large foam tips for the same sort of fun
Hello Lars! I am inspired by your videos and im passionate to buy a bow but i'd really appreciate your opinion about the draw weight, is it ok to buy my first recurve bow with 70lbs draw weight? I dont mind the pain or the training process i just want to be sure if its more effective or not. Thank you
🙏
👑
neat!
สุดยอดมากจริงๆ
Imagine how much more engaging olympic archery would be if they shot moving objects in quick successions
Lars is a joke. It's easy to be so “skilled” when you use a bow with a draw weight for a child.

Dropping blindfold behind the back upside down no scope 360 headshots somewhere on the battlefield since medieval dark ages. No wonder firearms became meta, SBMM kicked in :D
Baik!!
I'm waiting for the video where he fires a turning arrow through a keyhole to shoot down an incoming arrow.
Archery monster!
Could you make videos teaching archery?
What kinda bow do i need to look into getting for this style of archery ?
Forget this Robin Hood thing.
Damn son damn, by now its called Lars Anderson
"So, make archery fun. But remember to do it safely!" - and don't peep through keyholes, Lars Andersen could be on the other side...
I wonder if you can do it with heavy bows. In history like Mahabharata . Archers had bows like 500 pounds draw strength
the curved arrows still get me.
Du er ren inspiration Lars
King Tutorials.
🤙
Olympics need to see this man..like seriously, Archers in movies basically waiting to be stabbed after a big shot, but reality is so different. They were basically foot soldiers who were then taught archery and tricks.
So no you couldn't hide behind tree's
Lars is a joke. It's easy to be so “skilled” when you use a bow with a draw weight for a child.

I'm just here for the hops 🐇
Hey Lars how many pounds draw weight do your use for your trick shots?
Would love to see an avatar style archery video with inverted hand grip...is that even possible?
Funny archery!
Is there a bow on Amazon that people can buy to do this type of stuff?
But what is his eyesight?
It has to be incredible to in addition to his amazing skill.
I believe that he has achieved Zen like Capabilities over the years. What he is doing, especially things like hitting the falling drop through a keyhole which was invisible for him, can nly be explained like that.
@@jenskreibach9424 yet he talks down his skills compared to archers of old.
He's phenomenal.
@@dardarlizard He is. I was saying that he is on another level which can’t be explained with hand eye coordination alone. Zen archery and the ability to feel arrow , target and oneself is the only explanation for me.
@@jenskreibach9424 I get that but it does not negate my curiosity about his eyesight.
@@dardarlizard he can‘t see the waterdrop falling because it is behind the door. So I assume he could do it without looking at all. But I agree that it would be interesting to know.
What I want to know is, how is vision so good?
Infinity Try 😂 After 1 Clip
Make Archery Great Again
Fun
I'd love to see him in John Wick 5 as antagonist
When will you upload again?
Why this guy don't do archery competition?
If I was healthy, I be doing this and teach it.
Me/cfs isnt fun.
But archery this way is fun
Can you fire an arrow onto another bow string and have it fire itself back onto a target?
Thats impossible because pf reasons more then one,the arrow wont pull the string to be shot and will just bouce not to mention the strong tearing and also getting the nock right
Is there a reason that Lars Andersen turned down the role of Hawkeye?
where does this man get his bows
