Throw that W55 in the garbage! get a solstice/sky AR-5, JZX110 shifter housing, R154 1/2jz bell housing and use your W series flywheel and pressure plate. You'll need either a 4cyl S10 clutch disc or order one for the swap.

The stock a650e auto trans is a great trans, you can shim the accumulators and turn up the line pressure and it will hold your power level goals. That w55 is going to blow up first drift event. Invest in a r154 or CD09 and do it right.
For a late 90's auto the a650e trans is really good. It shifts crisply 90% of the time, and is rock solid overbuilt. Yeah it still sucks but it's definitely not 'one of the worst Toyota ever built'.

Can't wait to see how you do this one differently from the 1st build. I remember watching the 1st build and when it got to the custom wiring I was like, "I'd never be able to do this" lol. Maybe this one will inspire me to go for it. Either way, this is going to be awesome.

W55 will not hold up to the 450-500whp power goal. When abused, W55's shred 2nd gear with the stock 215hp. They really don't last around 400hp unless you granny shift it and be gentle on it.
It's also just a matter of time until the dual mass flywheel causes major issues at that power level. Get a single mass w58 flywheel, extended slave cylinder pushrod, and a sprung clutch as found in the NA 5spd Supras.
If you haven't already committed to the LS400 fronts, definitely consider IS350 fronts instead. You won't need RCA's for the caliper to clear the tie rod, the IS350 caliper is lighter and stiffer, and the IS350 rotor is better. Calipers are super easy to find and pretty cheap because they came in every IS350/GS350/RC350 (non-F-Sport) since 2006. And the whole setup is probably cheaper than going LS400 anyways.

Just use the stock Aristo GTE vvti intake along with the DODO runners. It works so well with these. The stock harness can even be used on it and you can use any off the shelf plug n play ECU. It just makes everything so much easier. No need for a custom harness or any of the issues you had on the last one

I mean i've seen built A650e can handle around 700-800hp I dont recall seeing any higher
Yoo Evan! Big question for you. I’ve got an 02 wrx wagon right now with a stock ej205, I’m looking at throwing the juice at her but the factory 5 speeds are made out of glass almost, typically start to destroy itself around 350ish. The only downside of going with the sti trans swap is shorter gear ratio so it won’t be in boost much. If I’m shooting for 300-330 what would be a recommendation build wise? On a budget but also not wanting to cheap out on parts. Big fan of yours, TIA!

You clearly don’t know much about the is300 platform jk jk iv had 4 and slide a tuned stock 2jz with the auto for a year with a welded diff and drift hq adapters and could keep up with almost every e36/46 at my track with no issues cuz I wanted to test how the auto was at as a cheap ass daily that u can slide around

What is the obsession lately with CZcamsrs, cleaning the whole underside all crazy, its just gunna get nasty after 1 rain and drive.. Just clean and paint or coat it.. No need to make it clean enough to eat off of.. lol Not worth it and not great content, for this guy anywayzz. To each their own.
