I have tab S4, s6, S7+ and tab S8 ultra. I also have had every single note phone that has ever come out. I have never once had a issue with a image burned into my screen. I keep my brightness down to around half and have never had an issue

@@geraldslonaker3289 Same with me also. Have been using Samsung amoled since they started using it. Have been using so many Samsung phones and tabs. Now have s21 and tab s5e and s7 plus and ordered for tab s8 ultra. NEVER faced this problem and did nothing to prevent.
Exactly the same on my S8 Tab Ultra, and on my 48 to 83 inch OLED TVs as well. Don't overdrive them over 50% and you will get zero burnin!

Great advice! Although, for reversing the image as an artist... if we're using reference, we're likely referencing an image. It may be a better idea to zoom in on the image just slightly, so we can slightly move the image so it's not in the exact same place the entire time we are referencing.

Absolutely love all these videos you are putting out, even though I have been using android devices from the Samsung S2 days, I like watching these as they help either confirm or correct my assumptions.
Glad to see you go from strength to strength with each video! Btw I've never (fingers crossed/kow) faced burn in issues with any of my devices (SII, Note 2 & 3, S7 Edge, Note9 & Tab S 10.5) having used some of these for over 4 years. Got the tab s 10.5 when it first launched and its still used at home as a media consumption device. But I am still going to follow your advice with regards to the Ultra as, it is super-expensive....

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we get a tab S8 Ultra FE edition with LCD. With how popular the Ultra is turning out to be, I'd actually be more surprised if we didn't get the option at some point later this year. Having a more budget friendly version of this beast with a quality TFT panel like the tab S8 has would be awesome! Great idea!
@@RADERTECH as long as it's just the screen they swap, keep the same CPU, and maybe add a 3.5mm jack. If not, then I'll see if there's some apps to install to cap the brightness or automatically dim it back down after a period of time.
@@themadatheist1976 I don't think you'll have to worry about burn in on the Ultra as long as you don't keep the brightness maxed out. It should last for years to come.

Fantastic video. Really appreciate this. I wish there were more options from Samsung for mitigating burn-in, like the pixel shifting you mentioned here. That's what my LG C1 uses, and it has no burn-in even after heavily gaming for hours a day.

I'm the kind of person to generally use my devices inside, therefore I always keep my brightness low to prevent the bright light from hurting my eyes. I also do it to preserve battery life. And now I learn that it also has another advantage, which is preventing screen burn in. Turning the brightness down has soooooo many advantages on a device.......who would have thought.

Side note. The buttons slightly move throughout the day take a screen shot and then look at it throughout the day, the actual buttons won't overlap with the screenshot. They do move.

For the nav bar U should be able to remove them from the settings after you set the gestures I have them off on my note 9 (i can still use them but they aren't visible)

This will be a very useful video for Samsung tablet users. A couple of notes for people. As long as you keep the default settings (brightness, autolock, wallpaper), you don't need to do absolutely anything else, the tablet will not risk any burn in, as Oled has much improved over the years. Where the suggestions will be very useful is if you use the tablet outside and increase the brightness to the max and/or install a wallpaper with a strong contrast (something shining very strongly) or have apps keeping the display on for a long time with static elements (typically using the tablet as a second screen for hours every day). However even if you try hard to have burn in it will take a long time (months or even years) before any issue would be visible.

Good news they updated Samsung store during the night and i was able to order the model 15.6 360 (only core i7 16Go 512 SSD available...i would have préferred 32GB but 16Gb should be enough and is the bare minimum to run android apps as Well.
Just hope that intel did not fuck this 12th generation

Thanks for stopping by, and my apologies for the slow reply. I wouldn't worry about honestly, it impacts very few people. I've been using OLED based panels for years and have yet to have a burn in problem. I'll take an OLED panel over the mini LED stuff anyday, though I do like iPad's otherwise.

I never had this problem, and I've had many Samsung devices. Including a large screen TV. Why would anyone leave the same image on anything for a long time when you can just hit the power button to blacken the screen?

Jeez, I still have an S7 and have been using it as a remote for my Roku. In a few months the remote buttons burned on to the screen....so annoying.

Thanks for the info, so I will rather buy the Tab S8 with TFT display. I'm an artist and wanted an all-round solution for digital drawing, but this is a real cheek. The devices are extremely expensive and then you still have to make sure that you do not set too bright and keep everything in motion....
Then for sketching and on the go the Tab S8 and for home a decent graphics monitor.
But it is really cheeky that Samsung does not communicate this properly. But after all, customers should not stay with one device for too long...
I wouldn't say Samsung is doing anything sketchy or anything in regards to not mentioning the potential of OLED burn in, because it's rarely an issue anymore, especially on their latest screens. You would have to leave it at full brightness for a long time, and the screen timeout maxes out at 10 minutes, so it'll turn off before you have to worry about burn in really. It's mostly a problem for folks who stay on the same exact screen and have the same exact UI elements on it all of the time. That's becoming a rarer and rarer situation.
if your focus is on drawing and graphic design, I would get the tab S8+ or S8 Ultra over the standard S8. The tab s8 still has a 9ms latency when using the s pen, where as the S8+ and Ultra have a much lower 2.8ms latency. You WILL feel the difference, I know first hand. I would make the pen input a higher priority than the screen technology in your case, because you'll be using the pen often. It's just so much better on the S8+/Ultra.

@@RADERTECH I would of course appreciate it if this problem was no longer so existent and as soon as the problem has been completely eliminated, I will then give it a try. I think the 11" is sufficient for sketching, so was my 11" iPad. But since I also wanted to use the Galaxy Tab as a graphics monitor on the PC (all-in-one solution), the larger display would of course have been nice. I think I'd rather get a decent graphics monitor with 16" and the Tab S8 will then be for sketching and multimedia applications.

I know what you mean, someday maybe we'll actually get Dolby Vision too, but I'm not holding my breath. I see Samsung is releasing a new Odyssey monitor that's 240hz/4K, but doesn't have any of the cool new tech in TV's. Someday, hopefully. Thank you so much for watching!

S8+. The OLED based panel just looks much nicer for movie watching, plus it's a bit bigger than the TFT panel of the S8.

@@nnmm4023 The screen will outlast the length of time you keep the tablet. The risk of burn in on these updated AMOLED panels is very low, and you'll be mixing up content on this tablet more so than a PC. I wouldn't worry about burn-in at all, it's really not a factor on these panels. They max out at around 500 nits with HDR content, and that's not really enough for burn-in to happen. The screen gets plenty bright, just not dangerously bright.
I think the only time I had burn in is when my S8 screen broke and needed to get it replaced. But otherwise that, every OLED screen I had never got burn in

The only devices that I have had screen burn in on were my 2 Galaxy S8 actives. The interface for CZcams was burned onto the display after about 3 months for each.

@@RADERTECH With the replacement one I got after the first one burned in, I even tired to be more careful, but I still got the burn in! That model of phone was just really bad, I think.

I never keep my screen on full brightness that will kill your eyes. There was a guy that put out a video showing his eye cancer from doing so. I didn't know you could get eye cancer. His eyes were blood red, no whites at all and the damage was not reversible. He was warning others.

Have you heard about double cheeseburger Oled technology? You stack 2 oled panels together making the screen bright, power efficient, and No burns and will last more than 10 years just like Oled panel that LG provided to Mercedes EQS. It will come to tablet 2024 but with a price since double oled.

I've always been highly against anything that causes uneven screen wear. That's why I use true gesture navigation (with no hints) on all my devices (which becomes god-level with Good Lock's One-Handed Operation +). I also always set up my devices to use immersive mode whenever possible (via System UI Tuner) such that the status bar is never persistent, or (if necessary in addition to that (which it often isn't)) configure the apps to ignore (not hide) the camera cutout/notch/etc. such that the full display is always being utilized. I'm not a fan at all of this trend of "hiding" cutouts by using less of the screen because 1) I paid for the whole screen so I'm going to use the whole screen instead of throwing a fit about a little gap, and 2) that kind of extreme difference in screen wear is exactly what causes burn-in.
In addition to the above, I always keep my screen timeout at around 1 minute or less. Between those practices, I've never had a burn-in issue on any device, even when using them at 100% brightness for many hours per day.
Oh, I also always play youtube videos and movies/shows zoomed in and zoom out on demand when I want to see something that was cut off.

@@RADERTECH If you haven't yet, look into LADB, Shizuku, and System UI Tuner. LADB allows you to use wireless debugging to use ADB commands directly from the phone/tablet without connecting to a PC. Shizuku uses the same feature to run a script that other applications can hook onto to give you "root-like" functionality (for instance Darq can use Shizuku to force dark mode onto certain "unsupported" apps that have a dark mode programmed in but disabled (such as fb (annoying cuz it's enabled on phones -.-) and amzn) without having to use the "Force Dark mode" developer option which would force all apps to use it, even if they already have a better, native dark mode). System UI tuner (which I mentioned above) requires granting permissions (either via Shizuku or ADB commands), and will let you customize the UI in a bunch of different ways, in addition to being able to force immersive mode globally, or on an app-by-app basis. You can even hide the status bar while on the home screen (you can always swipe down at the top to see it) for maximum burn-in prevention.

I dont think burnin happens because of heat
It happens because of high voltage and static image i have a amoled display and i like to record 4k outdoors most of the time my phone temp goes above 50° but i mostly put my phone on 50% brightness and my phone is 3 years old and no any burnin issue

I have two Qled TVs, 2 oled laptops, 1 amoled cellphone and 1 tablet, I've never had burn in. Sometimes I pause my TV and forget about it. I don't babysit my oled devices.
TV's have got so much better with it, most have pixel shifting or some other similar tech that moves the pixels around, just slightly, over time to help prevent burn in. Thanks for watching, appreciate all of your inputs too 👊👍

i learned the hard way, be careful with tik tok. has a black bar on the bottom with the bright white create + button. burned in on my s21 ultra

If the s8 ultra was IPS I would definitely buy it without hesitation. Some people will use it as second monitor which means there will be a static image and icons for hours and yet samsung goes for the amoled. For what? Better black display? I bet it is about money. More expensive to buy and more expensive to repair compared to lcd. And they used tft in s8 what a joke. At least use ips on that one. I really want to buy tab s8+ over air 5 but samsung forces my hand to buy apple :(
I get your frustrations, for sure. On top of all that, many folks are sensitive PWM used to control the brightness on OLED panels, it's gives many folks headaches.
I think it's more of a logistics thing than anything. Samsung Displays isn't really into IPS panels as much as other display techs, so getting those sourced would probably cost them more than using in-house panels that are tft and oled. I think the cost of the tab S9 is supposed to be roughly the same as the S8, so I don't think it's a money grab. Well, it's always a money grab with these companies, so I shouldn't say that, lol.
I use my tab S8 ultra as a second screen often, that's my main use case for it. I use extended desktop and keep the taskbar minimized, this helps a lot with preventing burn in, since only a blank wallpaper is being showed on it. I get your concerns though, and I wish they would continue to offer several display options. Thanks for watching.

Yes indeed! I picked the most "loud" fire based one I could show here for demonstration purposes, it's way over the top, ha ha ha. I think as long you keep the brightness down some, and maybe mix it up a bit, it would be fine. By mixing it up, I mean switching from portrait to landscape once in a while, or switching between light and dark themes. Most of the map elements move around as your moving, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Thank you so much for watching.

I as a user has been claimed for the problem from the day one i or the phone(unless produced and distributed to countries not only users using as the same android with its latest service but for the other dual objectives through the carrer networks to..) face should not be the blame on to users what you or Samsung's representatives are told us in the name of videos by youtubers hired as to cover up all bad doingstherefore better back s8 samsung android phone to its initial production set uo.and default operation system.
OLED burn in is just one of those things. Some folks keep their brightness super high, and others will leave static images up often. It's not really a Samsung thing, it's for all OLED panels.
You basically said, don't go out of you house and live your life because some rock can fall on your head! Thats some BS just to get some views man! ✌️
