Also arguably being the very first season of MC Canada the judges are probably still trying to figure out what TV persona they want to portray. Personally S1 Michael felt like trying to play Gordon Ramsay's persona as "the wise man with a restaurant empire", but later seasons he felt more like playing a mentor, fatherly figure.

I’ve seen this time and time again in these challenges, the truck doing the taco always wins! It’s just too hard to beat a good taco
For me personally it lies heavily on salsa. Tortilla and meat just need to be average. But if the salsa is anything less than solid we're probably not coming back. Actually I will say if they can really nail an Al pastor I'd be back.

every single masterchef team challenge, there's always that one dish that's not up to par
Every time theres a team challenge you can kinda tell which teams gonna win based off what dish they're going with. Half the battle is choosing the right one. While the Blue team was faster in getting orders out, most people are going to choose steak tacos and chips/salsa over a meatball sub.
