    Labour hasn't got a clue.
    You can make all the house building targets you like, you can reform planning processes but until you have more bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, gas fitters, carpenters etc then you may as well set a yearly target of 1 million new houses because it's no more unachievable as 400,000 is.
    We've encouraged all our youth to go off to university to get a degree that many will probably never use afterwards and meanwhile the service on my gas boiler is carried out by a man who should have retired two years ago but his employer begged him to stay on because they can't find anyone to replace him.
    The young don't want to work for £30k or £40k per year on a dirty building site, freezing in a cold winter. They want to work for £70k a year working in a heated office whilst plonking away on a computer keyboard. We just aren't training up young people with the trades and professions where we have shortages of workers.
    Fact is we have a building capacity of 210,000 homes per year. That's all the industry can build at maximum output no matter how easy or hard planning law is.
    Well I predict the housing shortage is now going to get way worse under labour than it was under the incompetent conservatives. This is because the number of new houses being built won't go up at all and labour will now completely throw open the doors to mass legal and illegal migration which will put even more pressure on our already very limited housing supply.
    Those who voted for Labour can now reap the consequences of that. I'm OK jack. I have my own three bedroom house as a 47 year old who has worked constantly since leaving the education system and I have no children so it doesn't affect me. I'm pulling up the ladder and looking after number one from now on because most people don't have the common sense to vote for the change they moan that they want.
    From now on, anyone who comes moaning to me about rents or house prices etc will get asked "Who did you vote for?" If the answer is Labour I will just say, "Well you've got what you deserve".

      Only 120,000 people came into the UK by (boats) 2018 to current which is only 20k a year.
      1,500,000 in 6 years or 250,000 homes are being built per year, and most likely the immigrants will probably live in rented rooms, tents, homeless shelters, etc. Stop making it seem like a big deal when everyone feels the high electric and gas bills+inflation in their pockets.

    We dont need to build on green belt. Walk around your local town and lool at all the derelict and abandoned buildings or disused yards, carparks ect There is so much unused space.

  • @thruppenybit
    @thruppenybit Před 13 dny +7

    You need a lot land for millions of houses. And you need a lot of land for the infrastructure to go with those houses. You need a lot of land for wind turbins and solar panels. But you still need farmland and green space. What you really need is a lot less people coming in.
