- This is one of best fire alarm sounds I have ever heard! It’s not very loud but it echoes through the building quite well. Rare to see a building from the late 90s that still has mechanical bells.
The visual units here are horizontal Simplex 4904s on adapter plates. They went with these after discontinuing the relabeled Gentex strobes. The bells, as others have pointed out, are 2901-9333s.

Me too, even though I’m not super into fire alarms. The theater department at this college has a non-functioning bell just like these as a prop, so I know they’re around
The college I went to still has these bells in their library. The building was built in 1995.

One of my campus buildings once had those except the bells were 6 inches. They've now been replaced with Simplex speaker strobes.

jeez, that bell at the beginning is struggling. sounds like its either not tightened or its broken, it sounds like its missing the gong most of the time.

The hammer is seprated from the gong so its not striking all the way. I had an Edwards Bell do that. I had to make the hammer go closer to the handle so it can strike

@@UncommonElevators thank you. I never knew buildings in the late 90s in the US had bells for the fire alarms inside. Many used horn strobes or speaker strobes. My high school which opened in 1949 renovated in the late 90s and replaced the single stroke bells with est integrity horn strobes. And strobes in the classrooms.
