The guy running to put the fire out has me in stitches! XD But real props to these folks and frontline workers. Now imagine doing each of these evacuations times 25 with a mask on carrying a ventilator too. 💪💪💪 Thank you all for all that you do!!
i have had to help evacuate part of a hospital that had a fire in the past. as it was a multi-story building, the basic way was to evacuate everyone horizontally away from the fire first and then vertically using devices like special chairs and sleds to carefully evacuate everyone. there were more steps like assuring anyone evacuated on oxygen stayed on a portable tank that accompanied them and shutting off all gas lines for central oxygen, but it is far more detailed and challenging than one can imagine.
It is a complicated situation obviously just by the fact that it is in a hospital. We only covered several ways but depending on the situation of the patient, it could be a multitude of ways to get a patient out of danger quickly an safely.
Kind of like in a fire station. The machine makes a electric like fire in it, and you use a electric fire exhuster to put it out. They use it to practice knowing how to use a real one in case a real fire breaks out in the building.
When I was at my intermediate school, the alarms were in Code 3. The funny thing is, they were sick of the alarm, and it only rang like 10 times in a row before they stopped it lol.

Thank you so much for posting this! I'm a new writer and I'm writing a scene about evacuating a hospital then realized it would be best to see what they actually do. Thank you so much!
One question...how do doctors evacuate a patient who is in the middle of having an epileptic seizure during an emergency situation (ex: fire, severe weather, etc.)?
what happens if the alarm goes off during an ongoing openheart surgery, is the patient just left there, or do they just like cover the body and take it out as is.
The patients in wheel chairs should of gone after the ambulatory patients during egress. The healthcare providers should of grouped the patients based off of who was most ambulatory first. An example would be sending the patients that can walk first before the patients in comas and in wheelchairs
The guy with the fire extinguisher ran to far. There should be a fire extinguisher within 75 feet of where you are at any time. Spacing is 150 feet per code.
Actually, the man got it pretty quickly, but for the purpose of this video, I wanted to show the different types of evacuations and what to do before the fire was put out. So, it was done for dramatical and educational purposes.😁
That happened yesterday in a hospital in Rio de Janeiro (i think), there was a surgery happening and then the fire alarm started, the doctors stoped the surgery, evacuated and then continued the surgery in another hospital. The patient started to wake up when they evacuated because of the anesthesia
Didn’t see them get that stretcher around the corner at 3m20s. Evacuation procedures for bedridden patients in high rise hospitals are a joke. The fire escapes in my local hospital, Derriford in Plymouth, Devon, are so narrow, with corners so tight, they are only useable by the able bodied. The hospital relies totally on any fire being contained in one area while patients are wheeled to a safe area on the same level. They may get away with this policy but it’s bound to fail one day. What is needed are large diameter, gently sloping spiral ramps so that beds can be safely wheeled to the ground. This of course will never happen. They prefer to keep their fingers crossed.
Usually hospitals use chimes rather than electro-mech horns. You can imagine this:There is a surgery in progress when fire alarm sounds.Even if the fire is far from surgery room. The doctors cannot be calm enough to finish the surgery correctly when they hear a spectr alert advanced horn strobe version blaring at high volume right outside the room. But chime version of the advance have a calm tone thus doctors could finish surgery correctly and then evacuate because they do not get startled by the alarm.
