  • Keeping it Simple!!
Yesterday, Elite Koi was contacted by a client looking at new Koi pond filter system. The Client stated he was fed up at having to spend so much time cleaning his filter and after he had finished the chore, he felt his water clarity was still not very good.
Chris had no hesitation in recommending the system we use on Pond 8 at the shop.Pond 8 is just under 1000 Gallons in water volume and house our Japanese Koi for sale, priced between £95 - £395. This pond is usually quite heavily stocked and the Filter, an Evoulution Aqua Nexus 220+ filters the pond and water effortlessly. The Koi Pond filters of choice are an Evolution Aqua Nexus 220+ Automatic. The outer chamber of this filter has been boosted with K1+ advanced filter media and holds approximately 150 litres. The other main filtration component is the Evolution Aqua Tempest. This filter has been a real game changer in terms of water clarity and amazes us daily with the removal of fines from the water. This for us only means one thing, Less organic load on the pond and Koi. We have been so impressed with the Tempest , we have added one to all of our back systems at the shop. These have been fitted at different points in the systems which allows us to demonstrate the clarity we can achieve regardless of the placement.
We almost seem to have come full circle in our choice of filters and although we do use automatic drum combi's both at the shop and on our own pond, I wish I had kept the Nexus and installed the auto Kits. I must confess though, with over 15 systems to maintain, I would struggle without the drums. My issue with the drums is all the electrical components such as float switches, flushing pumps and motors which inevitably do fail and they always seem to happen at the worst time!! I estimate the cost of repair and replacement on our own large Combi to be around £800 over a 5 year period!! The beauty of the Nexus is there is nothing to fail except maybe the auto Kit but even with this not working, the Nexus 220+ is still capable of performing both mechanical and biological filtration. This is a big thing for us at Elite Koi and I have made the decision to install Evolution Aqua Nexus on all of our future pond builds.
I hope you enjoy the video and it gives you an insught as to how simple we keep our filtration at Elite Koi. Of course we do have the full Nexus koi pond filter range for sale along with the Evolution Aqua EazyPod range.
If you are looking to purchase one of these great Evolution Aqua Koi Pond filters drop me a line telling me you have read this post and I will give you 10% off our listed price!! This includes the Tempest.

Surprising how much gets past the Nexus, I didn't expect that much rubbish come out the tempest 👍

It never ceases to amaze us John. The Nexus 220 was greatly improved with the addition of K1 Micro and this really reduced the amount of fines in the water. The Tempest really do's polish the water. We also use the Tempest on a system which is run on a combi drum and the results are the same.
