- I decided after much deliberation to try out the Dreamscience Stratagem imap for my Focus RS Mk3. Available with 5 pre programmed maps, I go for the most advanced ‘Ultima 2+’ map to see just how much a plug and play tune can change the car’s characteristics.

Thanks for the review, I'll try answer a few of the most frequent questions,
1) The RS MK3 does have an ignition counter which can be read by the Ford IDS to see how many cycles it has run, this has sparked fear in some customers as it has been rumoured this resets when remapping, however we have tested 2 x separate cars flashed with the iMap and the ignition counter was unaffected!
2) The handset holds all the OEM stock calibrations from the Ford Motorcraft website and when selecting "return to stock" your exact OEM stock file goes back into the car.
3) In 11 years we have not had a single incident when flashing back to stock

Is the Dreamscience Imaps available for the Focus RS here in the U.S? I haven't heard nor heard anyone from the states that uses it and would love one over the Cobb AP.
Can I ask. After the install does the ds unit have to stay plugged in or can you take it out the car and leave it in the house?

Car Focused has this figures been confirmed on dyno? It would be 1st RS on the world stock with remap on 395hp. I hope you can show us shortly dyno run with 395hp graph.

Had the Focus 2.5ST with the Dreamscience maps on, very noticeable and even a few years ago, so easy to either flip between maps or swap back to default map. Great pieces of kit and would not hesitate to get another.
I'm very tempted to get DS. I think I'll wait for more feedback about Ford's ability to detect once removed. Great video, keep us updated!

I don't generally buy in to CZcams videos convincing me to part with my hard earned cash, but you caught me at the point of considering some level of tune, so I bought the IMAP. I have put the DS-Ultima on my car, a completely standard 17 plate with 14k and the difference is staggering. Well worth £450 odd delivered.
Yeah, I cant even imagine the difference the other 2 would give with a few hardware changes, probably something I'm going to do at some point. Also the 'Andrea' thing, its my wife's account, through the day I go by Peter.............

So ive watched your video a few times now and like yourself, I agree that just under a grand for 25bhp for mountune is a bit more that I can afford. So on Monday this week I ordered myself the imap for my MK3 RS. It arrived yesterday. After the initial updates I decided that I would try the 3rd map (DS Ultima) as I only have a K&N induction kit. Well, what can I say that you already haven't. Holy F****n s***. This map is insane. Normal mode feels like the old sport mode on steroids. The pull through the gears is incredible. As for sport mode now, well, WOW. Im glad I watched your video as I would probably not have gone down this modding route. The best part is, ive still got 2 more maps to play with. Great video and well worthy of a like and sub.

Wow! You certainly liked the transformation, Gary. I think you were driving your car more regularly back then too, so the change with the remap would be very apparent to you. I'll watch your later videos to confirm it, but my initial impression - from your reaction here - is a upgraded map is worth installing.

Add a milltek decat pipe 👍, ultima 2+ maps out the downstream O2 sensor. The difference on this map against stock is night & day. I’ve just put mine back to stock for the recall 👎

thanks for testing for us :) forget power numbers what pretty much everyone who's daily driving it really want is low end torque and apparently remaps give a ton of it on this engine, great !
I installed KW DDC coilovers also to "try" fyi as there was little feedback outside of Matt Farah (and the others all changed various other things at the same time) normal becomes comfortable (more than lets say a stock last gen subaru sti) and track mode is now a mode you can use and you activate when you want to drive fast, it totally changes the car tough so if you like the spine-stabbing and dartiness of the stock RS it's not for you, it turns as well if not better but without the drama (only the PSS squealing as usual) it's way more tamed

I’m running the DSultima2+ on my RS too. Same state of tune as yourself with just a K&N filter.
It really has transformed the car, the little pause you get on initial acceleration you don’t get on the DSultima map, so that may be eradicated when a sports cat or Decat is fitted.

I’m with you also Danny, I tried the ultima 2+ map on mine, I have a mountune crossover with induction, mountune recirc valve and ssc and also the uprated hard piping and it also had the little flat spot just over 2000 rpm, dropped down to ultima map and it’s gone,if you want more noise take the under bonnet sound deadening off, Christ it’s like a jet fighter taking off with some nice flutter 👍 I would highly recommend this bit of kit, worth every penny
Car Focused it’s not noticeably slower. It’s smoother though. Give it a go. Only takes 10 mins to change the map 👌🏼
2 and 2+ will really benefit from a Decat though
Like Danny says mate it’s not noticeably any slower but just feels a lot smoother, save the ultima 2+ if you ever up grade to exhaust and intercooler👍
I had a DS Tune on my 08 Focus ST-3, completely changed the car for the better and increased MPG (marginally). I will use again when I eventually get an RS

Mk3 Focus RS Club can you safely run these at Dreamscience max safely with just an air filter ? I am so considering this ....does it make a serious difference?
Yes that is correct. It is fine for standard or bolt ons

Great video Gary, I always feel that my car feels like its been held back especially in Normal Mode, might look into this mod once the gasket gets replaced, sounds like value for money, just want to wait it out because of all the engine issues.
Car Focused Great I have still to book mine in for the recall, when I spoke to the parts department at my Trustford in Warrington they told me that I would have to wait for a recall letter and they won't be able to do the test until I get one, I had problem with my front window washers they stop working when I went cold and I found washer fluid streaming from underneath of my engine bay, so I have to take my car into to get that fixed and also my drive modes keep going off, so while Iam getting it for them to be fixed I will ask about the recall it seems people in America and Australia are getting their car sorted but Ford UK are dragging their feet🤔

Dreamscience put out a great product. Had their handset on my stock 2006 Focus ST (XR5) for about 8 years and the car never faulted, or went into limp mode. Very, very tempted. Dreamscience how about a discount for us old Aussie customers? ;)

DSCI is amazing, had it on my ST225 (XR5 here in oz) and now my RS, releases the cars full potentia. imo, the Ultima did wonders, then I realised 2+ can be flashed on Stock, S1 or S2 cars, so I went and flashed it right away. and now even I get pushed into the back of the seat(that mid range boost) with the Ultima 1 map it was mainly the passenger and I'm not a small lad, 6'4" and 230lbs
You get a lot more than just a remap for ur £1,000 at Mountune + you get to keep your warranty which is *PRICELESS* when all these engines are going BANG
Just when you thought the Ford Focus RS couldn't get more epic...
I had a dreamscience map on my mk1 RS and it is by far the best map available on standard or lightly modified cars. Tried the blufin but was very tame as boost limiters were still in place in first 2 gears, dreamscience removed the limiters and had much higher boost levels throughout the rev range. Honestly short of a custom map these are the ones to go for!
My mk1 ended up being quite modified but honestly for the money you cant beat the dreamscience maps. Whats the boost holding at on the mk3?
Dreamscience are very good, I’ve got a fiesta st and the map is a massive difference to stock! Your on a slippery slope now, full bolts on coming soon 😂💸

I've had the ultimate 2+ for a while and it's bordering brutal. A big surge in power and it hold the torque further up the revs. It totally transforms the car. Highly recommended.
Car Focused just the map and 99fuel.
Car Focused I've been running the ultima since Feb 2017 and the ultima 2+ since it was released. It also improved the fuel economy which is a nice bonus.
ricksteruk10 Is their a big difference between Ultima and Ultima2+? Is Ultima 2+ more pulling?
Christian Grethen to me Ultima felt great almost like an old skool lag then boost where as the stock power is very linear with no sense of speed. Ultima 2+'s surge feels slightly less but only just, however 2+ keeps going a lot higher up the rev range. All round 2+ makes it drive so much better. You can always swap between maps but since 2+ I haven't gone back.

But after watching this , I am seriously thinking a stock car & adding the dreamscience gizmo, seems a no brainer !

Am I right in thinking the map you are running in this video is around 280 bhp ?
Hey Garry you need to review the DS Ultima 3 map. It's awesome. Far better than the 2+
I have a 17 plate RS in stealth grey completely stock and have been looking at what modifications I can do without affecting the warranty. I hadn’t considered Dream Science until today but I really like the idea of the dream science imap as this is purely the ECU. I will be very interested in following you over the next months to see whether any issues arise and will let you know if I take the plunge or not. Great Content keep it up👍
Think Mountune keeps the warranty valid?? Don't quote me on it though
As Dreamscience say your tune is specifically designed for upgraded down pipe at 3" with sports cat, plus the addittion of a Cold Air Intake (CAIS) and most definately running Shell V power or Tesco Momentum ONLY!
Although the tune you have will still work with no mods you should always match the tune to the recommended mods!!
What about the re-circulation valve on the turbo? That's also replaced as part of FPM 375. I've got that, plus the Quaife differential too. Quite a combination

Hi mate can you do a follow up video that shows the boost gauge performance (or even a logger) on a 3rd gear pull from 2000rpm. Also if possible show if it spools quicker/higher at part throttle, which can improve driveability massively. Back to back data with the standard tune would be perfect. Cheers.....

am waiting on gasket recall ie parts as mine has failed..a 66 plate 11000 miles
so if u can remove map as u say before warranty work then your vid has sold dream science to me once my gasket gets done.

So I've had my rs mk3 nearly 2 weeks. I love it , however I do feel like it needs that little tweak, especially coming from a mk2 st that was modded. I've not long just Installed the ultima 2+ and wow what a difference it's made. I've not tried the other maps yet, but I would highly recommend if anyone is thinking of upgrading a standard rs.
What supporting mods do you need on the car for the ultima 2+ map? I’m currently running the fpm 375 kit.

So at the point of you uploading this clip and DS Ultima 2+ tune, was your car stock, or did you already have Intake and Exhaust mods?
Strange thing happened to me : Have ultima 2+ drove it and was happy , then I didnt drive for couple of days got into my car and the car felt like it was back to stock power. I was making sure wirh the flasher that it was still on 2+ and it was, but the power was gone. Then I installed the 3 and all the power was like before. What was my problem or did they changed something ?
Got DS for my Fiesta ST mk8. Not installed yet. Should I connect my IMAP to my computer first, before I connect it to my car? Or, do I connect to my car and upload presets and then go back to my computer and search for software updates?
I've already done got a FPM375. If I was to Dream Science it could I switch it back to the Mountune instead of stock, as I wouldn't want to wast my £1K?

I have the MP375 map on my car, with this going straight to the OBM port and connecting directly to the cars ECU, will this just simply overwrite my MP map ?, I have heard that the ultima 2+ map is far superior to the MP375.

How can you trust this plug and play device how do you know what your fuel is doing ie lean or rich
I would of gone with mountune just to keep the warranty due to the engine issues. My rs dream is on hold again due to a new kitchen one day.
The Ecu has a system clock, every time you re flash the car back to stock it will reset it. dealers don't normally bother but if you blew it up and they cant find out why, they can find out.

I just bought an RS two weeks ago, planning on buying this after seeing your review :) Please tell me though..do you have to keep the device connected to the car while driving ? Or just flash the ECU, put it away & off you go ? And lastly..i’m from Belgium, so it’s kilometers and newton meters here. Does that matter for the device ? Thanks !

So tempted to do this, especially as it can be changed back to stock easily, car looks faster from your vid. You seem pretty certain that Ford either can't detect it won't look for the ecu being flashed, did Evans Halshaw confirm this?

Hi I purchased my Dreamscience handset brand new back in August 2018 only getting to install it now due an imminent service that was due and then because of the winter weather, just didn’t think it was appropriate for the time. Now already to install it but what I’m wanting to know is when I updated it , that it had 155 updates, does this sound about right? If that’s the case my handset is only 6 months old, how often have I to search for updates? Will they send me a notification or have I to constantly keep searching?
That’s quite a number of updates as I say for handset being only 6 months old!

Is someone here running the Ultima2 map (not 2+) in combination with only an airtec intercooler (not sportscat)? How is the response of the turbo? Are there no lags fron 1500-2500 rpm. Is ultima2 with airtec a good combination?

Have you tried the Ultima 2 map yet? I think it's a lot smoother and the car pulls a lot more evenly
Car Focused yeah I think it is just as fast although doesn't feel like it because it's a lot smoother you don't seem to get the hesitation because the turbo seems to spool up a little later, give it a try I'm sure you'll like it
I know this is 6 years ago but how does it idle at 2+?

Car Focused yeah. For diesels there is not a remap. Only filters and pipes.

Why care about warranty when you can turn it back to stock before getting Ford to do anything on your car..?

Hmm, the Mountune kit also includes an alloy crossover duct and associated tubing, a new uprated diverter valve, an air filter and your warranty remains intact. Please don't think that Ford won't check for a remap, the procedure is in their work sheets - there is no such thing as no trace when you are flashing a modern ECU. Also, you are not paying for a 25 hp increase, you are paying for a greatly improved map with good increases in hp and torque at various places across the rev range. It's all about the extra area under the power curve, not the quoted figures. Just saying. Glad you're happy, and I hope you don't have any problems ;)

Having owned the RS now for over 2 years, I’ve found it interesting to see all the modifications everyone’s done to their cars. I have no interest in lowering or tuning it as I find the performance is just fine. As for track days... lemme see; $150/day, tire wear- @ $250/tire x 4 after 3-4 events, sounds like close to $1600+/- for a bit of ego boosting adrenaline!
I think all of us would like to think we can drive as good as Louis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel but that’s just not reality. For those of us who have the desire to see what it’s like to experience true competition, go out and buy an old race car and join the local chapter of the SCCA. Better yet, buy one of the new KTM RC 390 and join the fun on the track. Last year, a friend “tuned” his RS till it holed a piston- cost, $7000.00 for a new long block engine with no warranty coverage from FoMoCo.
Now that Ford has decided that maybe someone installed the wrong head gasket in some RSs, some performance modifications can be looked into. I recently watched a TV show where a Mustang’s EcoBoost 2.3 engine was helped with a new larger turbo and exhaust system to achieve an extra 100 HP and torque increase.
I think Ford has done a great job to produce a streetable car with the performance perimeters of the RS. I think I’ll leave mine alone and enjoy being the slower car on the street.

I've been told Ford will be able to tell you have had a remap even if you put it back two standard I don't know if anybody can confirm, that's a bit risky as Ford haven't confirmed about these engine issues getting sorted had my recall cancelled twice now and still no parts available:-(

Alan Xr this IS true, but I talked to a ford mech and they said its something they wont normally notice unless they have reason to look for it. Its noy like it flashes red CAR HAS BEEN TUNED. So as long as you dont have 900 visually obvious mods to the car, he said they wont even look.
They can’t tell it’s been tuned or at least what was done but when u flash back to stock before going to dealer it resets computer like day one so when they flash and see you 10k miles/km but the car has only been started up 3 times they know something has been done but can’t tell exactly what.
