    I discovered that trick about a month ago. It totally makes race mode more enjoyable. Another mode you can try is Drift mode with the stiff suspension setting. It makes the rear more eager to step out and more lively.

    thats how i drive all the time, in Sport mode the diff is in normal mode, track activates the sport setting on your differential. you cant feel the focus magic without it. so track +soft dampening +ESP on and Bang on.

    I've actually found Sport with ESC fully off to be my preferred mode. Track mode seems less eager to let the tail come around, and the steering becomes too artificially overweighted.
    Surprised at the number of people acting like this is a revelation.. don't any of you play with your car's settings!?

    I wish there was a way to store the settings; it’s the same problem I had with my STI. But anyway, my personal default is track mode with the normal suspension. I leave the stability control in track mode as there is still one more layer of protection before that is completely defeated anyway.

  • @Gnadenloos
    @Gnadenloos Před 7 lety

    I always drive in track mode, also with normal suspension, but also with ESP off. This actually does not mean ESP off, but only reduced "support". Only if you press the "Off"-Button for more than 5 seconds, ESP is really switched off and you can see an additional icon.

    Hey Justin, this is another Fezza (based on my surname) from Australia, with exactly the same car as you. Have you tried drift mode with traction control on, for normal street driving? You can really feel the rear wheel bias (front lifting, back squatting etc) and the smarts are still there to save you if it gets scary. I must admit to driving in the 5th mode more often than not, but the 6th mode is my 2nd favourite.CheersBob

    If you carefully check the manual, it says that AWD system oil needs to be changed after 800km driving on track/in track mode. So, I am wondering, if the car is driven in this mode everyday (what I would definitely wish to do), what is the wear on the differential being all the time in sport mode and respectively how often the oil has to be changed...In this mode, the car reminds me a lot of my EVO, and we all know the EVOs had quite some issues with their rear diffs and required frequent oil changes...

    • @fredEVOIX
      @fredEVOIX Před 7 lety

      now you scared me ! if there's a read diff pump failing after 50k like the evos I'm going to be really angry ><

    Holy crap you are right. That is a pretty big difference. Begs the question why they didn't put a mode in for that. Weird thing for me is i tried this when we had freezing rain a couple days back. I can tell more pull from the rear end like this but not overcompensating like drift mode. i'd almost say that's the best way to get full AWD all the time.

    I think in Mexico what Ford did was to have track mode set up with ESP on and normal suspension by default, so if you press the LHS button as suggested you enable the stiff suspension (the little damper with the S beside it appears) which is what we don't like so much for public roads. I guess Ford changes the default driving settings depending on the country where they sell these cars? cheers!

    @LoveLikeaHurricane Před 7 lety

    i already knew about that 5th mode. Its the mode i recommend to use when you are performance driving...(of course with esc off). Track mode puts AWD system in Sport. Sport mode ...does not put the AWD system in Sport.
    Again though you had another video where the ESC has a fully disable function for a better drift? I am still confused about that as Ford has not advertised it. I just understand that ESC is either in Normal or Sport.

      I have try this (6th) today morning on my RS with snow Tyre. I'm living in Luxembourg. We have this week some freeze on the road (but no snow). The traction of this car is so great that it's very difficult to find the limit. I'm waiting the snow ... I also try to remove the cable to the subwoofer to see if it change the noise of the car. I was very surprised , the noise was still great and it doesn't seem to change something. After this test, I'm not sure that Ford use the subwoofer to give more noise.
      Last week I sold my RS mk2 to a german dealer. I want to say that the 5 cylinders noise was probably better but it's not so sure. The greatest advantage for me of the 5 cylinders is that at high rpm the engine has more rage and can reach 7200 rpm. For sure, the MK2 and MK3 are two great car !

    • @FezzaYT
      @FezzaYT  Před 7 lety

      they are both great cars, for sure. In terms of the sub woofer, I believe the sound is piped into the cabin through the normal speaers...but don't quote me on that!

    • @tylerward8333
      @tylerward8333 Před 7 lety +1

      Fezza
      Not an owner, but I've been doing EXTENSIVE research and I will be laying down a down payment on the 2017 ST2 model this week.
      With that being said...
      The engine sound is fed into the cabin from the engine bay. A valve opens once you've dug into the pedal and a pipe linked to the induction manifold projects the sound directly into the cabin. Nice feature I must say. Unlike the newer BMW m5 series, the sound is digitally assembled and played through the stereo system. Lol the stereo is for MUSIC... but I get it. Loud exhaust systems are regulated in some European areas.
      Nice video btw, I can tell you enjoy the car. Everyone and everywhere I look has brought forth awesome reviews and praise. I'm excited to join the crowd lol

    • @carlman257
      @carlman257 Před 7 lety

      6800 and it does not change with drive modes. There are certain situations where the car will reduce it down to 6500 like if you have the throttle pinned, bouncing off the rev limiter... but i haven't tested this

    • @FezzaYT
      @FezzaYT  Před 7 lety +2

      like Carlton says, it doesn't change. However, I find that I change at around 6000 I think as the torque reduces after that so no point in pushing it more for no real gain.

      sorry mate , but this didn't do much for me , honestly i didn't feel any real difference....

      @FezzaYT  Před 7 lety

      that's odd. You do have to be really on it to feel it. Read some of the other comments here. Some people have explained that in track mode the car goes into a sport setting for the AWD system, whilst in Sport mode it's the same AWD setting as normal mode.

    I wish I could afford that car. I drive a MK6 VW GTI for a daily. I want that RS as a weekend/ tuner car

    Just turn it all off in drift mode with hard suspension feel the car come alive! Lift off over steer

    @bubbachua Před 7 lety

    mate what you done still has driving aids ie ESC on. it's basically sport mode with AWD steering in sport mode. Sport mode's AWD steering is actually normal mode.
    try out Drift mode and hold ESC button 5 seconds for ESC to switch off, the "i" icon to pop up on center dash. this is a really fun drift mode i'm trying currently, car feels alot more loose and nimble :)

      @bubbachua Před 7 lety

      also, ESC on is different from Traction Control i think

      thanks Eugene. I haven't tried the drift mode with everything switched off but hopefully will get a chance shortly!

      Eugene Chua like the golf R ESC is stability control and traction control is wheel spin, so you are correct

    Where is the fifth Mode????

    • @warriormonx
      @warriormonx Před 7 lety

      Is not an official 'mode'. Fezza selects Track and then reduces the dampening and put ESC back on - both manually. This gives you the Track brake, steering, throttle etc settings without the unbearable ride. Also, as he mentions, means that if you overcook it in a corner the EDC nanny will save your sorry arse 😊

    Too stiff? hahaha. Ive driven 2000lb cars with 12k springs on the street with no issues. I don't know what you're on about.

    • @alexisthemexican
      @alexisthemexican Před 7 lety

      Linus Torvalds dampers/shocks have a lot to do a lot with how the ride quality feels. The Focus adjusts the dampers to be more "stiff".

      and my ebay coilovers with 12k springs arent?

    • @FezzaYT
      @FezzaYT  Před 7 lety +1

      with the dampers in sport mode they are really stiff and no good for road use. I'm by far the only person to mention this! It's only intended for track use as it's too uncomfortable for road use.
