Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as the Stranglers and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands? Thank you from Sicily.
I really wish I had said that because it is absolutely true No other nation comes close Not just the best bands but also put so many different genres out
Lovely sentiment! 👍
Applause, absolutely xxxx
America has put out a lot of music stars, but their population is much larger, so per capita I suppose Britain wins. I always think if JJ's parents hadn't emigrated to the UK he would not have become a famous pop star, because I don't know of any who have come out of Normandy! As much as he hated being French as a child in Guildford, they did him a great favour! He ought to be eternally grateful he was born and raised in the UK.
@@treasurehunteruk9718 I thought JJ was only half French, born to an English dad and a French mum.
So, is his whole ancestry from France?
Tribute to Dave Greenfield, born March 29th 1949 in Brighton where I was for a trip, died May 3rd 2020,RIP DAVE
A belated RIP, loads of respect from the UK Jamaican community 😢 one of my favourite bands easily
The Stranglers are so versatile in their music genre. Punk band doing ballads. Dave Greenfield RIP (fab pianist).
When Dave passed it was indeed a shock.... RIP
@@elrenato82 His pianist skills are exceptional, and you just know it is a Stranglers production!
From Ugly to this......shows true talent.....❤
That bass, yet again, signature Stranglers. Best band ever.
JJ burnel
RIP Dave Greenfield (1949-2020) & Jet Black (1938-2022). True inspirations to this great post punk English band! 😞🖤🙏🏿🕯️
R I P Dave Greenfield. You gave The Stranglers their unique and distinctie style in music.
Dave surely was one of the best keyboard artists in the world. We never will forget him.
Yeah that is true! He was indeed a genius and he gave the band soul and passion. He will be missed. I hung up a photo of him on my wall of fame just to honor him.
@@elrenato82 That's absolutely correct. I think you are an real Strangler Fan like me.
Exotic, Sultry, Moody with a bit of menace =The Stranglers!
Reminds me being a kid in 1983 living in bilston playing this song on my moms record player ❤
The best british music of all the time
RIP Dave - you will be sadly missed. A true genius.
My God This Amazing Bass Line Has Haunted me since the 1980s when I first heard it and I was like 13 yo... it still gives me the bliss
I loved this group and had the biggest crush on Jean-Jacques Burnel. This group was cool as ice.
The Stranglers really need to get inducted into the Rock And Roll hall of fame they really do deserve it!
I'm agree with u ! ! ☺
They do, but they've got no chance. Seems to me you have to have made an impact in America - or at least kissed some yankie ass - in order to get inducted. ..Which means that fantastic bands like The Jam, Dexy's The Smiths and The Stranglers, won't get near it. Total travesty, but, ask them if their arsed?
I disagree, this is one of the best Punk band the U.K ever produced, the Rock And Roll hall of fame is for the Posh kids pretending to be what they aren't :Musicians
they're too good for that shit
It's amazing really - they released Golden Brown about a year before this and then they followed up with another incredible song like this. And in between they did Strange Little Girl which is also very good.
I feel like I'm Spain watching beautiful people strolling by.
One of my Favourite songs of all time x
j ai 61ans j ecouais ca en 1985 quand je partais à l'usine !!
Classic stranglers song which proves why they are the unsung heroes of the british new wave
Mysterious and sensual.
JJ Burnel, what a bass line.
Why can’t there be music like this any more, itsvery sad, but am thankful that I grew up listening to great music, thanks for posting , it’s refreshing to hear them....❤️❤️
no imagination or originality now
One of my all time favorite bands. Been listening to them since the early 80's. Now my kids do as well. Totally underrated.
Feline still remains one of my favourite albums of all time.
And that's because I can listen to this from start to finish without skipping. Can't think of many from this era ( Black Sea BY XTC for sure along with The The's Soulmining maybe)
Wonderful song, every single bit is perfect, but Hugh's guitar? Magnificent.
This is a masterpiece.
Such a captivating line bass.....
I´m a big fan of Stranglers since 2011 and to this day i have 10 LP´s, 2 EP´s and one CD in my record collection. :) Still love their music.
That guitar! Pure class and sensuality!
I LOVE this song! (and J.J. Burnel's solo album Euroman Cometh). My ex-wife is Italian and my ex-girlfriend is Portuguese (I am still friends with both, which is good for our kids). Whether we remain outside or rejoin the European Union in the future, England, Scotland, Wales (and Celtic Kernow/Cornwall) will always be European homelands with a common European culture. Looking forward very much to seeing The Stranglers final farewell UK Tour next year in 2022. I've seen the band a few times over the years in London and Brighton...Dave Greenfield R.I.P.
It's the EU we left... Not Europe. Switzerland is not part of EU yet they have freedom of movement... Go figure... Globalisation is not good for humanity.. America perpetuates constant WAR... One way or another.. US good... THEM evil..
You forgot Northern Ireland ?...................................
@@Theoriginalbigbrillo I am ex-service, but I have come to support the re-unification of the North of Ireland with the Irish Republic in a 32 County Ireland, after a democratic Referendum
First time I heard the stranglers was in 1983 golden brown then this song European female now I’m 42 and these songs are still as fresh as they was back then RIP Dave ❤️🙏
Oh that chorus.
Oh.
I just love playing along with the bass guitar to this! I played it at least five times in a row before I nailed it.
Seriously underplayed on the radio! 👏🏾🎼👍🏾🙏🏾👌❤
I don't recall ever hearing it played on radio at all. I only discovered it recently on You Tube and although Golden Brown was always my favourite this one is overwhelmingly beautiful!
Love this song specifically the black panther so cute
I was lucky enough to see the strangler's in concert many many years ago
same here
The stranglers are a musical anomaly, enigma.
Magique ❤
Love the schugga schugga schugga bass!!!
so easy,what a sound!
This is seriously beautiful, as is JJ, stunningly handsome. Love from Australia. 🕸🕷🕸
Nostalgy, easy going, along time ago and also present in memories. Best tune in the 70's
I love this song
Such a brilliant band loved them for years.
...the best metric album ever in a world.....
I would love to see the original line up reunite again.
Dave Greenfield has passed away now and Hugh has sinced moved onto other things :-(
One of my Top 5 Stranglers songs for Sure~
I saved my paper round money to buy this album it must still be at my mums. Played it a 1000 times.
My song x 💋
I'd forgot about this & Heard it on Matthew Rudd's Forgotten 80s on Absolute Radio 80'S!,
Love it!.
So many songs, so much to choose from . One of the most talented groups to come from punk. Much respect. Much loved.. JP x
Thank you for uploading this video again, because I had it recorded on a Beta VCR, and the tapes deteriorated. I am from Spain and here was a music program called Tocata that played the complete videos. To me, since I loved those English pop-rock groups, I recorded almost everything. Those groups from the 80s had more personality than now.
Love JJ burnel singing voice on this song
Some Cat People and Surrey Puma* vibes going on in that video (* one of which was actually a panther, cos it was (jet) black; the other other, spotted by Maurice Gibb among others, was indeed a puma). Had never heard this track till now (April 2024).
Such a beauty this song was great their set on the tube along with midnight summer dream even more sublime a song they really are overdue for that hall of fame honour especially more so dave is not with us defo one my fave bands ever.
But they reach top 10 in 9th place in UK
Una belleza musical que siempre se recordará🧡🧡🧡🧡👌👌👌👌✌️✌️✌️✌️
DG legend was fortunate to meet him, he lived not far from me.
i love this song i like jj when he does the lead vocals shines he does.
fantastic song , so Strange , like a night dream ,
Not typical of the Stranglers' style, but still a very good song.
Love this track
my favourite by them
Damn!! 80's music was so fucking good! Melodic, imaginative, varied!
2000s onwards, apart from the odd exception is monosyllabic, flat-lined shit!
sort of true but there is a lot of good stuff out there. It's just now you have to dig a little deeper.
Brian Smith ...can't be bothered to sift through all the durge mate. Like looking for rocking horse shit!
I hear ya ;)
Your not wrong there it’s been the death of music for the last 21 years. Unbelievable
♥️♥️
I love this video...just found it ...havent seen it since 1983
Thanks very much for this video clip. Never seen it before (May 1 th 2017, my birthday). A beautiful gift for my birthday...47 today...
Blimey!, I had forgotten about this Brilliant Track until it was shown on T.O.T.P's BBC 4 Re-Run's!, The Understatedness/Low Key Style makes it a Gem in My Opinion!.
Always liked this.
AWESOME
Band and what a tune.
Uwielbiam.
One of my favourite Stranglers songs. Moody video too.
Having a panther knocking over glasses of champagne is certainly an original idea, and probably hasn't been copied since.
One of my favourite all time tracks.
Played this in the local pubs juke box ...........cost me a packet .....love it
Masterpiece,JJ BURNEL❤
i was a young punk in the late seventies and the stranglers were the best live band before the storm...........
Wow, always loved this song and The Stranglers but never seen this video, it reminds me of the Bela Lugosis Dead/ The Hunger colab!
Super
Legendary...
I had the biggest crush on Jean Jacques Burnel. Totally helped that he was in my fave band.
yes he was very good looking,,,,,,,,,,,Met him in London in 79 in ealing on his bonnie and were a great live band back zen before the storm
@@Stranglerxx77 He was definitely just fine in his young prime days with jean and black leather, and I love his outfit. He's tall and got nice legs.
Lovely tune x and love the big cat x
COOL!!!
Gotta be up there with the best ever.
Excellent !

My wife is like the woman in this video . love the stranglers
Stephen Campbell luv them 2...
Stephen Campbell
nice one Stephen, wish I had a woman like that.
sto poutso mas
My wife is the woman in the video.
Dear Stephen, congratulations for having such a wife - I conclude that you are quite handsome, I look better on photos than in reality.
The Stranglers have proven that Rock Music does not have to loud, similar as the music by the Dire Straits.
One of my favorites! Beautiful video
Best punk ballad ever
He is a Bass genius 🙌🏻
The Sex Pistols, Stranglers, UK Subs and Eddie Tenpole helped put my town on the map! Thank you guys one and all!
Class
We shall never leave her side. And thus we Remain forever. You can sign all the documents you like - nothing in is changed. This is only the beginning
RiP Jet loved ur attitude and couldn't care less way...😥
LOVE THIS
:+}
Love it
great band
never knew this had a video
Yeah, this was the one shown on Top of the Pops when the record came out. It didn't make much sense then andI'm not sure it does now. These sort of videos were ridiculed on Not the 9 0'clock News with their parody video"Nice video shame about the song".
+Paul Lowe If I remember well, Feline was quite popular in Europe and especially in France but absolutely slaughtered in the British Media. Never understood why, it's a tremendous album.
it's a beautiful song man. Pull yourself together.
Richard Head To be fair the media slaughtered quite a few of their songs.
What's that got to do with anything?
