      Actually in hindsight I could have done better to signify it was a joke. I do think Dnd 5e isn't that well designed but I say that as someone who has played a lot of it, has had fun with it, and is currently in a very long running 5e campaign. I still stand by Pathfinder 2e Wizards are way better to play lmao.

      Lol its good. If I get called out and theres actual merit to it then yeah, I'll address it. Which here, I made a joke that only lands if you're familiar with the other stuff I do where I give my real more nuanced takes on tabletop games. Which is bad to assume.

    Tremere Heh, Nah it's all about us, the Hecata. Tremere fashion themselves as Witches, Magic-Users, yet all they really have are parlor tricks, without those, they'd be useless but as a Necromancer myself I find their Blood Sorceries interesting to learn, I'm being tutored by a Tremere Fledgling, the poor fool thinks I will bring his dead touchstone back after I've learned all his rituals, maybe I will, after I clean my trace and kill this 'Warlock' Fledgling, Ironically their Ghost will be mine but at least they got what they wanted...even if they lost what they had...Reminds me of their origin story, how poetic.

    Tremere, vampire meets wizard, also a lot of bastardry on a scale even unusual for the kindred combining mage arrogance with vampire callousness. Still blood magic is pretty cool!

    Came back to this video after playtesting the Blood Sigils rituals and creating my own, honestly it makes Tremere in V5 so much fun so long as players don't go overboard with the creation of rituals at ST discretion but one of my rituals I made in a dark ages chronicle was for a Tremere who was interested in Tzimisce Vicissitude with the whole conflict between the two clans so they created a ritual using Tzimisce blood tied it to human hair as 1 of the ingredients for a level 2 ritual that turns the targets hair into worms, with worms being the caster's blood due to the hints of Saulot in the Tremere's blood.
    Was really cool and became a great curse ritual a Prince I could get a hair sample of then it's just getting Tzimisce blood, adding my own in a silver bowl and bam Cainites got worm hair for a margin depending on success contested.

    While there are many elements of the 5th edition lore setting that I am torn on, although I do think that the Second Inquisition was a necessary addition as a whole as the Masquerade had kind of lost its point before that, how vulnerable the Tremeres had inadvertently made themselves will never stop being hilarious to me.

    • @glueboy
      @glueboy  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Yeah 5e has its ups and downs lore wise. Like off the top of my head I'm not a fan of its changes to Ghenna and some of the effects that has had. But on the other hand, the clean up for Clans like Ravnos and Malkavian is real nice. And then the Second Inquisition really forcing the Masquerade to come back much harsher was needed. In reading some older stuff it did feel like Kindred could coast a bit in the 90s. I've seen some complaints but I do really like the idea it brings of forcing the Kindred to reexamine how to stay hidden in a world that is QUICKLY outpacing them at an unprecedented pace.

    • @toniviskari417
      @toniviskari417 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@glueboy It wasn't just coasting a bit. They had literal vampire wars happening on streets that didn't matter that much because the vampires controlled the law enforcement, media and politicians.
      From another perspective, I do think that the change in the system reflects an interesting shift in how vampire stories are viewed in current mainstream culture. In the 90s, that was still the era of the Anne Rice and Bram Stoker's Dracula inspired vampire stories where it was more about this gothic mood and courtly intrigue by beings defined by their immortality. While now for a story to work, there needs to be a much more concrete idea of how do vampires work in the current age with the everything changing so fast. Like a more concrete sense of belonging to this world is demanded than when the game first came out.

    • @glueboy
      @glueboy  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Then toss in the Sabbat being well... the Sabbat lmao. Vampires just were everywhere. Wasnt much of a secret world. Yeah I prefer the newer tone a lot more. Which is pretty similar with what you said about being torn on it. The big wild stuff is fun and I miss some of the actual rules of older VtM. Vampire politics is fun and those points of inspiration are real cool, as a heavy roleplay style player though? I want more personal horror. Which is the 5e idea in a nutshell. Makes me way prefer the vibes of 5e VtM even though there are some great lore details we lost in the jump.

    • @glueboy
      @glueboy  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Basically just the Antedeluvian for the Selubri. The part that I'm saving is theres some lore details that hes one of the handful of Vampires to find harmony with their beast. Or in game terms, reach humanity 10. This is also debated/possibly retconned lol. Some 1st, to 2nd, to 3rd edition shenanigans from what I was seeing on the wiki. I'm gonna have to go pdf hunting for that video.

    • @diamondmetal3062
      @diamondmetal3062 Před 2 měsíci

      I’m honestly not sure how that works. Cuz like, in the lore, Lilith was likely a mage, and yet when she became a vampire, she was both a mage and a vampire.
      It probably exists mainly for gameplay reasons since giving the ability to hybridize two vastly different game lines is just begging for power gamers.

      The Tremere not Salubri. Found the claim through the wiki, but the Tremere were banned from Seattle for a good bit. Which isnt rare. Since despite being so prominent, everyone hates them. Alec Cross undid this when he took over. While that part isn't explicitly stated yet, the presence of Tremere in Seattle for Bloodlines 2 says it does.

    Unpopular Opinion but I like V5's focus on Rituals for Tremere, Paths felt wayyy to DND-like and compared to other disciplines Thaumaturgy paths felt wayyy out of tone, shooting fireballs, controlling weather you can certainly have games like that but it feels so much more super-hero like, when I played V20 I always preferred the rituals to the actual Emperor Palpatine lightning.
    I know a lot of people hate the focus on Rituals and more "Witchcraft-like magic" over "Fantasy Wizard Vampires" but I seriously don't get it, I feel like the Tremere work best as deceivers using Hermeticism and Witchcraft to create magic effects.

    • @glueboy

      Looking at the results I can't disagree. Clan Tremere are the top 3 of the Camarilla. The choices they made to get there though? I would still call a serious of "failing upward."
      As deserved for these amazing vampire wizards.
