@@danieldomeisen2632, the problem with that is mages can be maddening difficult to deal with. When you are trying to eat the soul of someone who can literally bend the fabric of reality they can be quite tricky to pin down. It was once described to me that a vampire fighting a mage in the World of Darkness is like trying to fight a loony toon.

@@theseventhify Hey, we all like what we like. My issue with RIFTS is more the system or it may have been the munchkins I played with who only cared about being able to take and dish as much MDC as possible and use that to dictate the game.
When the Tremere clan did their original ritual they all became pretty high generation vampires (the exact gen is never specified as far as I recall, but well above gen 10) Saulot was far from the first vamp on Tremere's diablorization menu. That is the reason for Tremere and his inner circle not being of the same generation when Tremere diablorized Saulot.

I wouldn't get too hopeful, I imagine he'd try to finish the sixt-err "thirteen" clans as well as possibly cover the sects before delving into the Lupines and Warlocks. Thing is, the Order of Hermes is something you can't really avoid mentioning if you're covering the Tremere's lore. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him cover the other 'splats', but we're not even sure if he'll be finishing the Vampires (who he only really started covering due to Bloodlines 2 coming out).

im starting to notice a trend: all clans beside ventrue seem to be in decline or tragic in some manner because of their past. maybe the ventrue are actually doing something incredibly right that the other clans dont get.

Best way to pronounce Tzimisce, is the way I feel like I remember hearing it in vtmb, Zee-Me-See. Or zee-mit-see
That is how the clan suppose to be pronounced. He has a nasty habit of mispronouncing the clans like clan Bruja and Venture.
20 years ago my Game Master was told by one of WW team, that clan name Tzimisce should be pronounced in old Romanian. Something like this (or with more latin pronounce (C as K?)). www.howtopronounce.com/romanian/tzimisce/

The thing about Tremere that bothers me is that before he was a vampire he was a semi immortal mage. Yes, he looses a lot of that power when he becomes a vampire, but would he really loose it all? Going into vampirism from a state of such exalted power should honestly carry major benefits. The other vampires should have treated him like a dangerous anomaly, rather than as just an upsart.
I know I'm 3 years late, but it does make sense because of a few reasons:
1, when a Mage is embraced, their avatar is completely destroyed, making them unable to manipulate reality/cast magic. The only notable exception to this was the Antideluvian Tzimisce, who was a mage who got embraced, but even then his avatar slowly faded away (in the time magic was at its apex). So it is actually quite the opposite, going from Mage to Vampire carries very little benefit, until Immortality potions stopped working.
2 Mages are not only a known quanity, but even before the ritual of Usurpetation the Tremere were at war with the Tzimisce (which the Tzimisce love to just not mention that they started the entire thing by attacking Tremere mages unprovoked and dumping the skull off years later). So now, the Mages that were already losing now didn't have their most powerful backers, who even if they are 4th and 5th Generation (not that the Vampires at large knew that) they were still just Fledglings. Vampires get more powerful over time, so even with Tremere and the council being at the Generation of Methusalahs, they didn't have the pure physical/mental/spiritual power to be seen as a threat to the Elders. Let alone enough to call themselves a Clan, almost all of which were founded by an Antideluvian* (actual accuracy of this term was debated for some even before Uncle Auggy and Tremere claimed their spots).
So they were just seen as mages who stole their immortality.
Doesn't matter that they helped build the Camarilla even more than the Toreador, and are just as integral as the Ventrue even while shattered (which is a whole other story on why that really doesn't work as events are said to have happened, even with the inside job hints), Vampires (just like people) are unbelievably petty, and adding on that the Tremere dodged an actual Clan Bane for a millenia, which probably got quite a few Kindred jealous.
Even now their Clan Bane isn't that crippling to individual Tremere

Everybody seems to either hate or despise the Tremere, oh I don't mean in-universe, I mean, everybody that I've ever played the game with. You see, this is my main go-to clan.
So far my characters have been backstabbed, poisoned, buried alive (metaphorically speaking) shown at least three sunrises and in the last campaign they just decided to diablerize his Sire because I'd spent enough points on him that he seemed like a good meal. =p

They did show some of the blood magic on the clan introduction video. You can see them using it to literally take control of the blood and tear a body apart from the inside.
We have forgotten more than these upstarts will ever know. And they will pay for what they did to Saulot.

The Tremere has always been my favorite clan but thats hardly odd since I am a Necrarch fan aswell. Tough I have always felt that they should be more of an outsider clan then they are, they basically embody the threat that humanity can pose to vampire society: ordinary humans (well mages, so meaby not so ordinary) that are not only able to create a new form of vampiric conversion but then they go from a upstart lower clan to assimilating the very power base of an older clan and I would like to see them be treated with far more apprehension by the other clans. I think they could be seen as the vampire equivalent of the nazi scientists of "operation paperclip"- people who have worked on/done distasteful things but are far to valuable and dangerous to cast aside or worse, be allowed to sell their services to someone else or form their own independent faction. I also agree with you on how magic is usually treated in rpg's, which is why i liked Tyranny so much where you created your own spells.
will you cover Nosferatu? they are interesting and Hard mode in the first game. Count Olaf is cool

Only way they can really sell me to this game is by making the LaSombra playable, Really want that Obtenebration Discipline.
Blood powers are cool for raw power, but I love the more subtile way of dealing with things, especially if it means shadow movement and manipulation.

With my Nosferatu (who was a shitty show magician) I was able to sneakily learn Thaumerturgy (he also learned Serpentis too, but that is another story for another day). Anyway, he would tease the other Tremere with his knowledge of is and then say that his rabbit or ring tricks were more impressive. So much fun.
5:00 the Avatar is what gets in the way here. The Embrace causes the death(or disconnection) of the Avatar, which is the source of a Wizard's abilities. This is why Mages don't all become Vampires.

Considering that Tremer was one of the founder of the Order of Hermes He was at least 3000-4000 years old and a Mage of al thing you know the one who can make a Lawn Chair from a Vamp whit little effort :)

Arch look at V5 lore ther is alot happen to Tremer, and events quet impactful on all vampires.
Those events are kind of... silly tho. Their headquaters get drone-striked by the second inquisition, who are honestly like something out of the X-men comics.

i think there's some degree of misunderstanding regarding the means tremere used to lower his generation. originally he, goratrix and the remaining members of the council of seven were high generation vampires, as the blood they used were of a lower tzimisce koldun iirc. it's not untill he diablerizes Saulot that he reaches the 4th Generation, where he will remain. it is only Augustus Giovanni that actually reaches 3rd Gen after consuming an antedeluvian. Tremere and Gratiano are both 4th after the fact.

I like the small details on the crest. Rather than squaring the circle, they are circling the square. Plus an added triangle outside, representing violence (pointed object) and hierarchy. What was once the path to create the philosopher's stone becomes corrupted, weaponized, inverted into a tool of degeneration, how very appropriate.

Mentioning Mages in this episode got me thinking: Will you perhaps be mentioning some of the other factions outside of vampires in the World of Darkness Universe? Not all of them obviously, since there are some really stupid ones out there the result of expansion creep, but maybe more on the Mages and Werewolves of the setting? Mages are really fucky in World of Darkness, while werewolves are a bunch of superpowered eco-terrorists who hunt vampires for sport.
10:37 it is permanent but wears off if the Thrall is not in the presence of the Regnant for long periods of time. Typically, 12 months minus the Willpower rating of the Thrall.
