    First of all, thank you James, for all your hard work into your videos on shoes reviews they are greatly appreciated Do you have no idea. You made shoe purchasing less painful and stress free. I watched your videos on the Invincible ones and twos and was instantly hooked where I purchased the Incredible twos which I absolutely love. thinking that I would be excited for the incredible threes, but when they came out and I tried them on, it was a big flop, and a no go on my end. I am trying my best to track down old sock on the invincible twos until Nike gets the invincible 4 correct!

    QOD:The Asics Gel Nimbus! I ran exclusively in this shoe throughout middle and high school, usually buying multiples of the same model. I think the last one was 16. When I returned to running I bought the Nimbus 22 and it was not what I remembered.

    Was looking forward to this. I have basically ran everyday in the 2 for the year plus. Have heard a lot of mixed reviews and was definitely wanting your take on it. The 1 and 2 along with the New Balance More V3 have been my shoe to go to for the last two years. Did you do a review on the More V4? I know when it came out you were injured, just can’t remember if you did it before the injury. Thanks so much for all you do!

      Was able to run test this shoe in a local running store, and what seth said held true: they made the upper more “comfortable”, made the midsole softer, made it a little morn stable on the mid/forefoot area, but I was also experiencing heel slippage.

    Yoooo Seth,Nike is a billion dollar business that shown financial growth in the past year alone,as you pointed out. Doubt they would need a CZcams runner to test their shoes. For every person who experience heel slippage, there's a person who doesn't(me being one). Goes to show,not all feet are the same and you're not going to please everyone

    QOD: I never purchased the Boston 10 even though I ran for years in versions 5-9. I recently purchased the Boston 11 on major discount. While the 11’s are really good, especially at tempo paces, it doesn’t compare to the feeling of running in the Boston 9’s. The Boston 9’s have a great mix of cushion, nimbleness and the fun factor that makes it an excellent daily trainer. I look forward to the changes in the Boston 12 later this year and hope some of the 9’s identity is restored.

    Interesting. I bought the Invincible 1 and had horrible hot spots/numbness in my foot any time I took it beyond 3-4 miles. I tried the 2’s on and had similar a experience. The 3’s seem to have fixed all issues for me. Coming in on 100 miles in them and I LOVE them. They feel way more stable and if you put the laces through the bottom holes of the eyelit chain it seems to have completely fixed the heel slip for me. It’s my new go to trainer for sure.

    I have over 100 miles in my pair of the invincible 3. I had a little heel slippage during the first couple of runs but once I got the lockdown right the shoe seemed to settle and have had no issues since! I really love the shoe, actually. I didn’t run in versions 1 or 2, so I don’t have a way to compare them.

    I wouldn’t say far better, but for easy days, I liked the fresh foam more v3 over v4. The v3 was a very comfy, soft, and protective easy day shoe. You couldn’t use it for any other runs even if you forced it.
    However, with the more v4, they made the midsole firmer, changed the rocker geometry, and added a decoupled groove. The end product? A more stable and versatile shoe that leans more towards a daily trainer rather than an easy day shoe. I also love using my more v4 now, but I preferred how the More. V3 was for easy days

    I have never had a heal slippage problem in any shoe and been running for 40 plus years. That having been said my 1st pair of Invincibles I went to 600 miles, my second pair are at 450 and still going strong and my 1st pair of Invincible II are at 250 miles and going strong. Comment of the day: It has to be the Boston lineup. I had the Bostons from Boston 5 to 9 and then it all of a sudden became a completely different "beast", oversized and not at all giving the feel of the ground under foot. I do have the invincibles 1 and 2 but will not go for the 3 after seeing this. Thanks Seth you are saving me some pennies.

    Just like weight and upper lock downs are your major concerns in a running shoe, cushioning devices in the heel and forefoot are mine. I would love to go to Nike Headquarters with you and ask them why they’re taking air backs out? Thankfully in the Peg 39, they are there in the heel and forefoot unlike the 38.

    QOD: a couple of years ago I purchased my first pair of Brooks Glycerins, they were the Glycerin 18 and I liked them a lot. Year later later I purchased the 19s and they were my favorite daily trainer shoes, so when the 20's arrived I was really excited and purchased them without testing them first. The first run was kinda okay but after some days into them I just couldn't feel the same joy as the past versions and I was kinda disappointed... I'll definitely check out the 21s but will be testing them first for sure.

    QOD: I am a stability shoe runner and love the Saucony Guide. I been wearing them since the 8th or 9th iteration. Last year the 15 was released. I tried them on and immediately knew something was up. I passed on them and went for the Hoka Arahi. Fast forward to a month ago and the Guide 15 was on clearance for $45. I figured I could deal with whatever I experienced last year for that price. They are not unrunnable, but they just aren't as comfortable. The heal counter feels a lot like the Mizuno Alchemy from 6 or 7 years ago. I can feel the plastic pushing right into my heel (behind the arch and in front of the heel). The previous versions provided stability the whole length and you couldn't feel it poking anywhere. Also, the new 15s have a lot more room in the toe box. It's too the point that the shoe feel a little loose. Finally, visually they look much worse from the top down as the sole on both sides of the toe box extend out. As a bit of a Saucony fan boy, this is tough and I am definitely looking at Asics and maybe Brooks.

    QD: the last shoe that I bought with the previous one being better was the Bondi6. The 5 was much better. The 6 and 7 have both had heel slippage. V1 I like way better than the 3. I do have some heel slippage but not a lot, however the 3's seem to be a lot more firm. The 1 felt like running on pillows and was one of all time shoes for me. The 3's are ok but don't get that soft feeling at all, a bit disappointed.

    QD: I've not liked the update to the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3. The tongue seems to be a bit too short and thin and the laces that came with the Night Lite color specifically caused some inflammation on the tops of my feet as well. I remember trying the first version of the Endorphin Speeds and falling in love with the shoe and appreciated that Saucony didn't change too much when it came to the Speed 2. But this go around just doesn't hit the mark for me. I'll get life out of this pair, but will certainly be on the search for the previous model when it comes time to purchase a new pair

    QD: I am on my 9th and final stockpiled pair of the original Nike zoomfly flyknit from 2018. I just got the zoomfly 5 after trying it in store and liking it. We'll see how it does! The zoomfly 2, 3, and 4 have been complete garbage and I didn't get them. Similarly, the zoom pegasus turbo 1 but really the 2s were great. After a several year hiatus from this model, the zoom pegasus turbo next% nature (if that's isn't enough to spit out) dropped last fall and didn't really cut it for me. If it aint' broke....

    I have to say the Novabast v1 was so fun . I couldn’t wait for the V2. It would have to be even better right? Nope, I got calf injuries in back to back pairs and I had to move on. 4 pairs of Endorphin Speed 2s later I can confirm the calf issues never came back.
    Now I’m gun-shy on the V3. But man I loved the V1.

    Went to the Nike outlet for my daughter and I was trying on Invincible 2 and the salesman brought out a pair of 3's before they went on sale. I felt the heel slip immediately! I tried different lace techniques and could never get a lock down on the heel jogging up the shoe aisle.

  • @Pianoman1234321
    @Pianoman1234321 Pƙed rokem +1

    I don't own the Invincible 3, but I did notice significant heel slippage while trying it at the store. Thankfully, Nike did at least listen a little bit and has given us longer laces to tie the runner's knot 🙏 (in v1 the laces were way too short for that).
    It's interesting that the caliper read a narrower heel, given that Nike said they widened the base of the shoe... I wonder what's going on there đŸ€”
    Also, a personal take on the zoomx is it just feels a little different to me. I don't know if cheap is the best word for it, but the v1 and v2 felt (to me, at least) like the midsole was more resilient and springy. This one feels to me like it's just soft with no bounce, and I actually felt bad putting the shoe back in stock because after a 2 minute test jog, the midsole already had some slight creasing. I'm not that heavy of a guy either, at about 150lb.

    QOD: I thought you might say a question like that, Pegasus 36. After running in the Pegasus 36 from Nike, I felt like it was just the best at got 400 miles out of them, then after that I felt like it just got worse, especially the upper. I stopped running in Pegasus after running in the 37s

  • @yurigregori
    @yurigregori Pƙed rokem

    QD: For my was the Pegasus 28/ Nike Icarus vs Pegasus 29. The Pegasus 29 was too unstable compared to the 28. The inner part of the midsole was too narrow and caused an accentuation of pronation, especially if you were over 80 kg. This however did not happen in the Pegasus 28 model because the sole of the foot was wider, and at the same time it had a plantar arch in the sole to ensure greater stability of the foot. Furthermore, the upper was more forgiving than the Pegasus 29 which then had a structural change in the 30 version.
    I also included the Nike Icarus because it was a Pegasus 27/28 but practically made for outlets, created and built with the same materials and the same performance as the Pegasus, so much so that over time it was replaced by Winflo to try to maintain separate two lines of shoes.

    QD: I'm a bigger fan of the Speedgoat 4 than I am of the 5. They advertise that the midsole in the 5 is the same CMEVA as in the EVO, but it feels much firmer and deadens out much more quickly. Also the upper on the 5 stretches too much, which, when combined with the obnoxious heel flare, leads to heel slippage, especially late into an ultra. I wore a pair of the 5s at the start of Wyoming Range 100 last year, but had to switch out to a pair of EVOs with over 300 miles on them because the 5s were getting sucked off my feet by mud and letting in too much debris thanks to the elf heel.
    Rambling aside... Hoka. BRING BACK THE EVO.

    I bought of pair of the Invincible 3. The heel slip feels a lot worse on step-In than while running. However, the fit of the Invincible 1 is still preferable to the 3. Oddly, I think Nike may have made the heel changes because people (including many Shoetubers) thought there was too much padding in the heel in previous models.

    • @shannonsides6017
      @shannonsides6017 Pƙed rokem

      I’m with you! On step in, I thought the padding was weird, but I actually saw the padding around the heel collar as a stabilizer, and allowed me to land farther back on my foot on east/recovery days while still keeping the foam super springy. Sounds like the midsole isn’t as fun in the 3.

  • @alexkhan2000
    @alexkhan2000 Pƙed rokem

    I recently got the v3 and it's a letdown, considering the high expectations I had for it and how much I like the v2. The heel slippage issue is definitely there although it's possible to minimize it with the runner's knot and careful lacing to get a good balance between comfort and lockdown. I had to stop several times during a 7-mile run to re-do the laces because there was too much slippage or I'd have laced too tight and create discomfort on top of my feet. Finding the sweet spot is tricky and a new shoe out-of-the-box should not be like this.
    Besides this, the ride just isn't as bouncy and fun as it is on the v2. It is more stable but I never found stability to be an issue on v2 anyway. Obviously, it's still bouncy and very well cushioned with all that ZoomX foam but the "magic" isn't there. It's a massive shoe and the ride is clunky. It's still a good shoe and I may grow to like it more as an easy/recovery/slow shoe but, for me, it's been a disappointment. I like the Gel-Nimbus 25 and the More v4 (and the v2) far more. All the updates seemed like it would be an improvement over v2 (and v1 which I haven't tried) and I guess it does look better from the side, but Nike somehow made it worse. Like Seth, I would not recommend this shoe.

    QOD: I don’t know if it’s the “last” shoe I tried where the previous one was better, but this QOD makes me think of the Brooks Launch. When they brought it back from the dead years ago, I was glad to see it (although they never brought back my beloved Green Silence). But the subsequent iterations of Launch just never captured the magic of the first one. In fact they just got more and more bland, and therefore less and less relevant. I’m not even sure if the Launch is still alive and kicking or if it’s just quietly faded away

    One "trick" I found to solve the heal slip problem is to use the back upper hole plus when tieing the shoe make shure the lace is forward of the plastic attachment on the tongue (toward the front of the shoe). I found if you tie the shoe on top of the plastic plate on the tongue it will loosen the lace and the heal will slip. Nike needs to remove the plastic piece on the tongue. Hope this helps!

    QD: by no means is this a bad shoe, but after about 100 miles I am feeling underwhelmed by the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3. The 1 and 2 were very versatile and I used those for anything from fast 800m repeats to tempo runs and long runs with sections at marathon pace. The only downside of those: the stability of the heel. This is where the 3 improved massively and I think it is a better shoe for the marathon paced long runs. But it lacks the sharpness to pick up the speed more for me. And at the end of long runs, the aggressive heel counter start biting in my skin. I've had a blister twice. Initially I was enthusiastic about the Speed 3, because it became a better shoe for long tempo and marathon paced efforts. But it niched down too much for me and where it shines most (longer runs), it also has a problem in the heel...
    Another one I have slightly mixed feelings about: the Saucony Triumph 20. In almost every regard it's much better than its predecessors. But - big but - they increased the drop to 10 mm. And I can feel it in every stride. At first I thought I just had to get used to it, but it seems I won't. I keep feeling it, it keeps annoying me and I keep wishing they kept the drop at 8 mm. I hope the 22 (21 seems to be a small upper upgrade) wil take all the good improvements of the 20 and brings the heel drop back to 8 mm :)

    Seth i think everyone who has reviewed and ran in this shoe has said the same thing about the heel slippage. Looks like Nike tried to do some changes and it didnt work out. It also seems more like a lifestyle running shoe than anything else. First version was the best there was nothing like it when they came out, I had 2 pairs then bought the v2 which i didnt like certain thing about that shoe. I wont be grabbing the v3 I like the SC trainer alot.

    Definitely seeing mixed reviews. Some, like Ben Johnson, have loved it. I have the 2, and it took me a while to really like it. The tongue actually hurt the top of my left foot. It's not a problem now, but it took a few runs for it to stop. It's not a problem now, and I love running in them. I'll probably give the 3 a go in a few hundred more miles on these. Oh, and QOD, the Peg 36 felt like a step back from the 35s. Not too sure why, but they felt harsher under foot. Didn't take them to full duration.

    I am the biggest fan of the invincible 1 and 2. I brought the 3 and was massively disappointed
    Firstly the ride has lost the magic of the first two
    It’s feels less soft less bouncy I think probably because of the strobe board they have added and the first two didn’t have
    Also heel slip was really bad I had to do a runners knot/ heel lock
    But had to tie it so tight it wasn’t comfortable and didn’t 100% solve the problem
    I sent the 3s back and brought another pair of 2s
    Also I posted a 1 star review on Nikes website and it didn’t get published. Funny how my 5star review of the 2 did tho

    Not sure why Nike is insistent on sticking with Flyknit, too many compromises need to be made to make it somewhat functional for running when other manufacturers have been having a ton of success using traditional mesh uppers.
