Today I learned there is an anime term for an Alfalfa.

Alfalfa is pretty similar in that it's a comedy/idiot character design choice.

To add more comparisons to this, I think Shinigami ghost form looks like Whisper from Yo-Kai Watch. The music also reminds me of Akudama Drive, Kodaka’s anime project.

Amazed that they've translated the art style of Dangonronpa so well to 3D.

100% picking this up. Most underrated game from the direct.
This was my highlight honestly! There wasn't a great deal that excited me but this just felt so refreshing.

Most definitely. While all the manchildren in chat were crying and bashing other games for Zelda, there were good games that weren't appreciated.
This is genuinely my favorite thing in the direct. So excited for this game man

Never played any of the Danganrompa-esque games, but I greatly respect the art/design department. The character designs are always phenomenal.
Genuinely couldn’t recommend them enough. I’d say try the first one to see if you’re into it or not and if you are absolutely play the second one, it’s probably the most popular game in the series. V3 in my opinion is criminally underrated in every aspect and is my personal favorite of the series
I may not be as fond of the series as I used to be, but I'd still recommend trying it out. At least the first 2 games. I'd avoid V3 personally, but that's your call if you want to go through that or not. As for Ultra Despair Girls, give it a look to see if you'd be interested. It's definitely not for everyone, so keep that in mind.

I love the Detail that the main Protagonist has ahoge on his head. Not only a nice Detail to make clear that it's from the makers of danganronpa, but also good to see that they still give their Protagonist ahoges.
They’re also an amnesiac detective with lavender hair.
This is seriously the most unique thing they showed in the whole direct, definitely not what I'm usually into and yet I'm ready to buy it right now.

He already did with Akudama Drive and another baseball sci-fi anime series. Akudama Drvive was a near masterpiece
Akudama Drive was very good! Personally felt it could've used a bit more episodes to flesh things out more, but games tend to be longer than shows so hopefully things will be more in depth. Tribe Nine on the other hand... was by definition an anime lol.
Same, but I'll remain cautious. I'm not as fond of Danganronpa as I used to be, and V3 was not a pleasant experience. Not to mention the various spinoffs, which I try to ignore. Still, I want to believe this will be good.

@@DerTomatenToaster I firmly disagree. I'm willing to say V3 has the strongest cast of the franchise, and the character writing itself is top notch, but its the story proper that loses me. At least it could be worse. Could be Danganronpa: Togami.
I love how Yuma has the typical Ahoge of a lot of Danaganronpa MCs. Kinda like their signature mark. I hope this is really good!
I love how they still have the same "No that's wrong!" pose when slashing through contradictions in this game
As a huge Danganronpa fan, this is really exciting! Can’t wait for this game to come out, seems like it has a bigger scope of the visual novel genre

Now you have me thinking maybe this is some distant future time after the world was saved from despair in Danganronoa
I guess it’s possible yuma in a way has the personality of Makoto (as well as having an ahoge) yet he has Kyoko’s hair color and her talent so may it’s the two in an alternate universe where Junko just didn’t exist and therefore hope’s peak didn’t exist and they just met normally I don’t know I’m just guessing here lolololz 😅
@@MrAJJII and just like kyoko he’s an amnesiac and he probably forgot his real last name too because during parts of the trailer it shows his name as Yuma kokohead and there’s no way that’s his real last name that’s just too goofy like at his parents wedding were they just like I now pronounce you mr and ms kokohead though it could his real name because this is from the same writer who gave us a German kingdom run by the neverminds
When I see Spike Chunsoft, I know I’m in for an awesome game 😁. One of my favorite announcements of the Direct, can’t wait to hear more about this game!

I’m fricking love the vibes of this game! This sci-if looking town and being part of a detective agency, solving crimes. The crime-solving mechanic looks amazing and fresh, clearly inspired by Danganronpa, solving riddles and finding the truth. I cannot wait to play this!!!
Just hearing the OST in the trailer made a smile in the the face seeing that the team really is back on every level (mistery, design, OST, a pretty interesing way of resolving a crime, ect)
Spike you’ve done it again, made a strange game mechanic that is easily dismissed at first hear but will inevitably become a work of creative genius
This was by far my favorite announcement from yesterday’s Nintendo Direct. Ever since I’ve started watching Danganronpa on CZcams and beaten Trigger Happy Havoc, I’ve actually started to grow a lot more interested into anime-esque artstyle, anime, and mystery games in general. You betcha that I’m 100% getting this game and playing it. Another mystery game made by Spike Chunsoft? Yes please! The game itself also looks incredibly gorgeous too.
They announced this months ago, but man was it great to see more of it, and with an actual release date!

This game is almost like Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth + Danganronpa.
But the game itself caught my attention. Gonna look into this one a bit more.
And now I made myself want an Ace Attorney game where Edgeworth uses the power of an RPG game to battle his way to the truth.
Why so many people didn't notice this games from the direct? I mean this one of the interesting games and unique on a Direct!
This game looks so awesome, really love the Danganronpa series and this seems like a really interesting spiritual successor, I hope it isn’t exclusive to switch for to long though so as many people as possible can give it a shot
I doubt it’ll stay Switch exclusive for too long, as Danganronpa: Decadence eventually made its way to PS4. Super excited to play this game though, no matter what console it’s on

Huge Danganronpa fan here. I’ve been itching to play a murder mystery game for a while now. Between Rain Code and Tears of the Kingdom , Spring 2023 is looking great for the Nintendo Switch.

No matter what the game says, this is my canon now.
I'm so excited its like applying the gameplay and style of danganronpa to a more traditional murder mystery with a cool setting, a very cool evolution of the idea without repeating the same thing over and over. So hyped.

I haven't played Danganropa but this looks hella interesting. This was one of the few games that intrigued me in the direct mainly because it's not a damn farming game.

With Hajime as an exception lol (also Makoto isn't really THAT softspoken/timid but shuichi definitely is also i dont think makoto or hajime look softspoken/timid)

I literally forgot Rain Code was even announced years ago, when the trailer came out in 2021 I had already forgotten the name, saw the name "Rain Code" and just bounced off it conflating it wth any other game that had the word "Code" in it. Glad to have it actually ping my radar this time! I'm hype for new Kodaka!

@@TheUltimateRare Yeah but that game was not really good and it was just a expanded version of a extra minigame of danganronpa V3 made for the anniversary edition, so even if it is indeed the lastest danganronpa entry, it didn't even made a difference for fans craving for a new main entry

Purple haired amnesiac stuck in a place filled with murder and has help a weirdly positive person in solving crimes to stay alive. Almost thought we finally got a game where Kirigiri is the protagonist.
I mean there is a game where kyoko is the protag called kirigiri sou, not very popular though but yes i am excited for this kirigiri like protagonist 😄

I love the cyberpunk environment. Not such a big fan of the character design (not a fan of that kind of anime) but I like their world very much and the game seems fun. I might give this a go

Unpopular opinion: as much as I love the graphics and aesthetic of this game, I really love the English voice acting of the two main characters.
I feel like Yuma has matokoto naegi vibes when I hear his voice.
That's kinda funny since Yuma's voiced by Hifumi's VA haha.

Never played Danganronpa but this game definately interested me. I might give it a go, it looks really unique.
Almost no one talked about this game after the direct. What a shame! I definitely keep an eye on it cos' I like the Dangenrompa games and Zanki Zero (probably no one knows this game, but its also by Spike Chunksoft). Especially the mistery aspect in both Dangenrompa and Zanki Zero are so great. An this game seems to do the same.
