The humans are also remarkable. That guy tackling Clark to save him, the pilot waiting and yelling "get that last guy loaded", and later in the film the Colonel standing up to a Kryptonian. I'm thankful for Zack Snyder that he portrayed us in a good light. He not only highlights the best of Superman, he highlights the best of humanity as well.
The whole symbolic of Superman is bringing the best of everyone arround him.
You can see it depicted here, and on the opposide side, the effects of his death we witnessed in Justice League with a resurgence in crime.
Well, that came from the comics and that's the difference between Batman and Superman. This is even distinctive between the two fictional cities Metropolis and Gotham
Shouldn't the guy who tackled Clark have hit a brick wall so to speak?
@@ButcheryTapes or Clark saw his attempt and reacted like a normal human
This as well.
This scene will be remembered as one of the badass scenes in DCEU. Thank you Henry Cavill, Zack Snyder and Hans Zimmer.

So much power in this scene. Truly, truly great.
Chills every time when you see him holding that entire structure and seeing it bend under his own feet.
One of the coolest Superman feat of all of his movie iterations.
Nolan was also very much involved into this.
Christopher Reeve would be proud
0:40 You could see how proud Clark is. That man, even though human, risked his life to try save his.
Funny thing is that Clark actually had to react on a whim and deliberately fall over, otherwise the man who tried to save him would have been hit as well.
@@jamyskis Nah, he had a mental block on his powers which is how the dude was able to push him out of the way. When he blocked them he stopped his powers from reaching his full potential earlier on in his life, which is why he still struggles with this.
@@hennggueljuancarlos8603 indeed all his life he only learned how to restrain himself.... Once he does get over this well his growth is basically limitless.... You see him struggling to hold that tower but after you see him carry way heavier objects with ease
@@Ezio470 Yep, he went from struggling with an oil rig to full on shifting a tectonic plate of the earth and carrying entire buildings like nothing. I kinda wonder if he'll get stronger though?
True i guess that was his way of trying to blend in to acting human i would say without using off his powers.
That man just saved the cage from superman
lol
Equipments are expensive ya know
I was a bit confused by this. If he was to try to tackle Superman like that it would have been like hitting a brick wall! I could understand if Clark knew he was going to push him and went along with it. But the guy jumped and tackled him without Clark knowing it was coming.
A slight over look in the movie. As in the bar scene when the guy tried to shove Clark it only pushed the guy back. Was like trying to push an iron wall back. Same thing should have happened here and had the man trying to save Clark get crushed under the cage while Clark would have been okay.
Just think how different this scene would have played out if that happened.
@@OldieWan It's been demonstrated that Clark has to be aware and bracing to resist a force. Something to do with his "personal force field", as even having higher density, he's still less than 300 pounds or so. Having said that, I believe it largely depends on the writer as to what convention is followed.
@@kevindavis5966 Interesting points. Thanks for sharing that with me here. Yeah I think much of it has to do with who is writing him at the time. Hence my confusion on how this works for him.
What about a bullet that he is not aware of coming at him. If he didn't know a force like that was coming at him would he no longer be bullet proof?
Thing is he could hear a bullet being shot from miles upon miles away.
So lets pretend it was a silent bullet or something that goes beyond on his density thresh hold would it then by pass his personal force field?
Just all geeky stuff I sometimes enjoy having theories about and or poking holes in fantasy land sciences.
Can you imagine the testimony of the rescued workers? Everyone would think they were either insane or hallucinating if they said a ripped bearded guy on fire saved them.
What's the unbelievable part though? The ripped beardiness?

I just realized Clark wasn't actually struggling to lift the oil rig, the foundation couldn't take all that weight, and he hadn't learnt flight yet to shift his weight into the air.
This movie seems to have more care for physics than other Superman media.
He was struggling as he was screaming
@@aperson626yeah cause he couldn’t get his footing since the foundation was failing and the entire oil rig was falling. Even if you had infinite strength if something super heavy fell on you and you caught it the ground or foundation below you also has to support the weight you’re carrying.
Never thought of that before. He was struggling because he had to be super precise(pun intended) to make sure to apply just enough force to support the falling structure without destroying it and the foundation under it. Even at this point, he’s massively strong. The scene later where he uses the anchor to drag a giant ship out of the ice was pretty impressive. The ship weighs thousands of tons and he’s just casually pulling it behind him like a child pushing his bicycle.

The fact Henry Cavill didn't get a second Superman movie is absolutely unforgivable. The man was born to play that role.
This movie was really good.I never understood the hate
shiva0251 Parts of the movie are great. They only never should have cast Amy Adams as Lois Lane. The writers also did a poor job on her character in this movie. Lois is a wise-ass and highly annoying and it is laughable how easily she could find Clark’s home and secret.
I totally agree 💯
I never understood that either because it's take on Good vs evil and takes it to another level. In the first Superman movie The antagonist general zod was not established why he turned evil it disagreed with the rest of the inhabitants of Krypton. But in this movie Zod had a meaningful purpose of being a antagonist because he was designed to protect Krypton at all cost even at the cost of another planet and its inhabitants. Not to start a DC versus Marvel War but really what was Thanos is purpose but just a murder everyone in the universe so he can hang his armor up in a field and cook his breakfast sorry but there's no rhyme or reason to his madness it just exists.

Clark wasnt expecting it, that's why he was tackled
@@coachsteel with all that super Instinct and shit?
Jmac Clark’s mass isn’t any different for a man his size. His super power is his strength-to-weight ratio, unlike other Super strength metahumans like Hulk (or more accurately, Bane) who’s mass is proportionate to his strength.
The same way you can stop yourself from being pushed over if you brace, Clark does the same thing and simply becomes a wall lol. But if he actively relaxes, his body weight can be dropped over if he wants. In this scene he obviously saw the man coming and probably noticed the cage mid air, and shifted his weight so he dropped with the tackle. Smallville Clark does the same thing when plays sports or high fives/hugs someone.

“This isn’t Superman. He’s not bright and shiny with a boyscout personality. The colors are bleak and boring.” Blah blah blah.
This is the embodiment of Superman. A regular guy, sure he’s an alien with godly powers but he’s just as human as anyone. This was meant to be his origin, his starting point. He was traveling the world helping people, trying to find himself. It reminded me a bit, of the Earth 1 Superman comics. This movie was supposed to lay the foundations that built up to the Superman we all recognize. People complain about him killing Zod. “Zod stop!” ...”Never!”. He had no choice, sure he could have tossed Zod away but then he would risk him killing even more people. Zod’s death and the deaths of the civilians caught in their battle weighed heavily on him, thus cementing his unwillingness to kill. His struggle between whether he should help at all. His suit got brighter every time. So did his personality. But people wanted Christopher Reeve’s Superman instantly. Instead we got a flawed, human character trying to do the right thing as best as he can. I vastly prefer this kind of a Superman, someone many of us can all relate to.

If we look at Marvel movies too, villians like Thanos, Hella had to be killed because their existence would result in cost of more lives.
Therefore Superman killing Zod is not even a point for which we should hate this movie.

Clark still hadn't reached his full potential uptil now ... otherwise even lifting the whole oil well would have been a child's play for him !!
There was an interview with Zack Snyder about Superman struggling with things like lifting the drilling tower. His answer was insightful. He said (paraphrasing) that OF COURSE he struggles as he's discovering his powers b/c they're all new to him. WE know Superman has almost unlimited strength, but Clark had no idea what his limits might be. So everytime he encounters something that he hasn't done before, he's always thinking, "this might be the end of me."
I think knowing that makes the movie even better.

I fucken love this part. Gives me goosebumps Everytime. I also like how that guy straight up risked his life to save greenhorn from getting smashed under the cage. That's a good guy right there
but how did he knock down superman? who it looked was surprised and therefore couldnt have faked it.
@@thirdworldrider6991 Superman/Clark might have been with the crew long enough that he could trust them. On land if they tackle you it may be to start a fight, but on the boat, on the dangerous deck, they are all watching out for each other. So when the guy tackled him Clark went limp, trusting that the guy was trying to help. Clark assume the good in the fellow crew, rather than them trying to hurt him
I think after 15 or 20 year people will appreciate this movie. For me this was the best Superman movie ever made.
I like how Clark actually struggles to hold the weight of the rig unlike in the comics where he is over powered.
Thats why ppl hate the new 52 superman. I love new 52
This Movie had some of my favorite fight scenes and visual effects
2:10 that one kid who tied to lift a weight over 1 pound
I love the realistic take on Superman trying to hold the rig from falling & you can see the beams he was standing on giving away.
Of course the man of steel is going to working the most dangerous job in the world.
Poetic. A nod to those crab boat fishermen. Hard as steel. Supermen in their own right. Epic!!
If they had plan for creating a universe, they missed the opportunity to show a cameo of Aquaman as he saving supes from ocean.
And then kissing sup right? Sexy sexy
No that wouldn't work in this scene. Aquaman would then have to appear again and that wouldn't be a solo superman movie anymore.
@@carllewis6698 no he woudnt pull him out of water on the shore that is it.
@@giannisdrou1199 sorry i dont understand what you're trying to say
@@carllewis6698 i am saying that it is not necessary that we need to see him again.Aquaman pulls superman out of the water will superman is blacked out and then he leaves
1:12 so amazing he can climb through walls
When that guy tackled Clark, you have to remember that Clark literally had to intentionally fall so that the guy didn't just collide with a brick wall.
The moment Clark got saved by his fellow fisherman from the cage falling on him, is When he realised that there are good people out there in this world and humanity is worth saving. It was at that moment
Anyone. And I mean anyone who didn't like this movie when it came out was NOTHING but a fool with no taste. This was a masterpiece.
The air tight cast iron door is just crumbled like an aluminum can and tossed aside like waste and before them stands some dude literally on fire and not even giving two shits about it. Their expressions where priceless.
I don't know why many people hate this movie, but its one of the best superhero movies ever made !
the details in this scene is priceless. in 1:30 clark using his cold breath to cold down the metal ladder, it's barely noticeable, because he make sure not to use cold breath too much, that will freeze the ladder and make it slippery for others. then in 2:11 clark is screaming like hell, because he is holding that metal tower or whatever the thing from the lowest point of gravitational pull, which make it impossible to lift anything, that's why he needed to scream like that. amazing !
Wait holy crap, I never noticed that was his cold breath :0
He was about to use it against doomsday in BvS but Lois stopped him and he finally used it at it's max power against steppenwolf in justice league and I thought that was the first time. Nice catch.
Thats the whole oil rig. In the coast. When its an entire structure Weighs close to a million tons if not exactly that. Most are 150k 200k tons
you did not get that, think about physics, the point he lifts make the hole change !@@hunterkembel5012
This is one of my favourite scenes in this movie. It's just Clark doing his best to save people, even going so far as to risk his life to make sure they're all safe. You could argue that he knew he wouldn't die but the fact that he not only struggled to hold up the oil rig, but literally passed out from the whole ordeal shows that there was some danger involved
This this masterpiece is so underrated . The best superman movie ever. I hope they make 1/2/3
I swear to god... this scene sends CHILLS down my back. It's perfect! MY Superman!
2:20 Reminds me of Zeus hitting Darkseid with the lightening bolt, with the beard and screaming and all 😂
I like this way of showcasing his power over opening the movie with some random fights where we are supposed to believe his enemies are super strong but he is stronger. You have a much better grasp at the sheer strength at his disposal with these gigantic metal structures he is supporting from a less than ideal angle. Also we get to see that even though Superman's power is nearly immeasurable it isnt infinite.
Great scene
