I've always thought that showing his at times difficult relationship with his father while growing up trying to understand who or what he was really grounded Syner's Superman. He isn't just some alien dude in red underwear that saves people in dire situations. He's one of them who just happens to be capable of truly amazing things. And, of course it helps that Cavil is so damn handsome and looks exactly like you'd expect Superman to look like.

I lost my older brother last year and ever since, this scene has made me cry. He always loved Superman and even wore the shirt to prove it. He was a firefighter, saved lives, was there for me growing up whenever I needed him, and he always believed in good and helping others... we would play superheroes in the yard as kids, and in my life, he really ended up being my biggest motivator and idol. stan broniszewski the thing is, Christopher Reeve will always be the definitive Superman, not only because of nostalgia, but also because he himself understood the character just as much as the writer’s of the movies had. This is very far from Zack Snyder’s take, which although realistic, is very far off from Superman’s core.

Man of Steel.....Wonder Woman.....and Batman Begins in that order are the top three origin stories ever. Even tho Batman Begins isn't part of the DCEU. But Marvel doesn't have a great origin story other than Iron Man 1 which was a great movie but all three of the DC films are better. The trinity rules at the end of the day. You know people give the movie so much grief over the tornado scene. But here, you see Jonathan Kent being the first human being ON THE PLANET to see Superman as WE see him. His sense of purpose and being must have been rocked and inspired. Like I get it now; his mindset from that point forward must have been " My son is the real deal, he will lead them to greatness and I must do and give everything I have to help him reach his potential". A true father, Jonathan Kent.

And yet it's interesting that vs the 80's movies, the roles of Jor El and Jonathan Kent are reversed. Jor El's instructions to baby Kal were, "you must not interfere with human history". Jonathan's were, "I know you were sent for a reason!" In this movie, Jonathan says the same thing, but the meaning is the opposite: not a religious conviction but a hope that Clark's alien parents' purpose would be revealed. And Jor El's belief is that his son SHOULD interfere, and in fact that's the point: to guide and lead humanity. It still works, still makes sense, but it's an interesting reversal.
And yeah this scene was badass.

I wonder who the people are that disliked it, and why... This one scene alone seems like a masterpiece. Of course the soundtrack and the general tone of the movie contribute immensely to the end result. That subtle look between Clarke’s adoptive parents after they see him in the cape makes me tear up every time, and I cannot explain why. I guess it’s that look of soft pride on the father’s face and the adoration in the mum’s smile that makes it so impactful. Great writing, direction, and execution there.

Scene with Clark as a kid makes me damn near choke up. You can see the admiration in his father eyes and also the fear of what might happen if humanity finds out about Clark. One of the best scenes in all of cinema.

I love how its the epic ending of the film and title is "Clark Kent gets a job" like its some random tuesday.

Man this movie is a masterpiece. Just kinda bummed out that things didn’t work out. They never really got things going with the DCEU all the movies were just out there. Hopefully James Gunn can give us a masterpiece with his Superman film and actually has a plan for the new DCU.
