- So for the black out section towards the end this is what it was supposed to say:
So a lot of the resonance comes from lowering your jaw. It is almost like you are opening up your mouth but with your lips closed. I may have not done a good job explaining that, but hopefully you will be able to hear what I mean at the end.

As a violinist, this helps immensely
Maybe I’ll do a how to improve your violin tone next? Jk 😂
@@Zekes_Oboe lmao pls do my tone is comparables to a dying rats wishes
Yes! Posture affects everything, everyone. Pain has a tone color…
I think you went to the wrong comment 😂@@darktimesatrockymountainhi4046
Thank you so much! I never woulda thought that breathing from the diaphragm would help so much🧍♀️
You’re welcome!
@@Zekes_Oboe I think he was being sarcastic😭
Perfect posture is a thing I never have considered. Now I'm concerned. Amazing! Thanks a loooot!
You’re welcome!
You play beautifully
Thank you!
Whenever I try to play the low notes (from G all the way down to C) the tone sounds turbulent and "alarm-like", and this only happens on those lower notes. What can I do to fix this?
Maybe an oboe issue? Or reed?
Maintain your lip pressure as you descend into the lower register and blow slower. The more firm your emborchure the slower the air can move without the sound dying
I'm trying out for All State, any tips?
Practice the excerpts like crazy lol! Use a metronome ALWAYS; never play the fast excerpt beyond what you can handle with the metronome. Gradually increase the tempo overtime. Even if you can’t get it near tempo play it at what you can do comfortably for the audition.
@@Zekes_Oboe Thanks! I'm playing an except from 48 Famous Studies No.44 at 120 bpm
@@veronikamidtowne Nice! Also, a bonus tip. Listen to recordings of that etude. There should be at least a couple on CZcams and that will give you some musical ideas to incorporate into your playing. 👍
@@Zekes_Oboe I found a good recording, thank you for the tips!

This is a recording of the etude I'm doing, and I'm struggling with two things. One is I can't hit some keys fast enough, they're a bit hard to reach, and the other is I have to stop and gasp for air or my lips get really tired and I have to stop. Are there ways to fix this?
Soooooo...... can anyone give any tips on playing the oboe with braces?😢
If you mean irritation from them, can look into something like OmniGuard
Well I play the oboe but when I got braces I could not play the notes in the right pitch
Yeah, sorry I never got braces so I’m not sure what advice I can give. Maybe try putting the reed in your mouth at different angles or part of the lips.
Ok. I’ll try that. Thanks. ☺️
@@thesnow5148 I also have braces! once youi get used to it play with a tuner, and figure out what you need to change with embouchure and other factors!
Alexander technique…
Yeah that’s a good one to add!
as an oboists, you have no room. giving advice on tone....
As a grammar fanatic, you have no leeway for solecism.
