- An upload requested from a subscriber now, he wanted to see anything from Yorkshire-so here is some shots at both Wakefield Westgate and Kirkgate. A mix of freight, Inter-City and DMUs. Some classic traction on here including a class 91 + MkIII set with HST power car used as a DVT, 47s on freight, IC and a charter rake and HST's proper. A few DMUs are seen including a Calder Valley unit and yes a Pacer!!!! (you know you luv 'em!). We finish with a few freight shots of 47, 37 & a 31. If you liked the video please subscribe to my channel, there are lots more transport & quirky vids to upload!
That was fantastic! my favourite BR era. Thanks for uploading.
My pleaseure.......
Good ol class 47s
47 196 on TEA WAGONS at Kirkgate. SUPERB. Lovely H S T'S at Westgate in go faster stripes BRILLIANT ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Kirkgate was the place to be for freight. But Westgate still had some nice action, just more passenger orientated......
37425 though!👌🏻
37 425 though! What a fantastic video, as usual. This was a period of transition for the railways of west Yorkshire and I would go back there in a second. Thanks again.
At the beginning, a very rare video shot of an un-refurbished 141/0 in Verona Green & Buttermilk livery.
Yes, i saw that but not in time to get the video going to see it arrive-groan! Bit of history there....
The front coach of the HST at the beginning is from the original prototype HST, it has different window frames to production Mk3s
It might be the same rake as in my Darlington vid?
Yet another truly video soi keep'em coming love the start with the HST 125 an absolutely pleasure watching your amazing work throughout the years 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thanks, i like a nice bit of Valanta thrash ever since i first saw them at Swindon in early 1976. I shall be at Padd on Satuday to watch the last few leave............
@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus get soi like all your video's including the Norwich station one as I only live 10-15mins away it's crazytosee how things have changed in the years that have gone by...
Will you be posting any more video's soon please do it's always a pleasure watching 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A short break until next week as i'm away from home but i have uploaded a few vids in the last couple of days to tide me over.
Lovely to c those class 47s in.action
Yes, there is plenty of 47 thrash in this vid....and a waide variety of liveries....
Both stations have been renovated since then. Wakefield Kirkgate was the definition of grimness, and still isn't a place to linger longer than necessary. It does have direct trains to London nowadays however. The 141 at the beginning is a collector's item.
I only ever caught a few of them on film. I still go to Wakefield/Leeds area as i have friends in that area, one of whom now drivers off Knottingley hub, a bit different to West London....
my favorite one there.....was the 47 roundie which arrived @ 10:02 (47 196 )....47's on Roundies always looked good...!!!.
37425 is still going strong 30 years later!
One of lifes survivors that one! I have more film of it working for Regional Railways in the North West.
Wakefield Kirkgate was just as good
Kirkgate had the freight tarffic, Westgate saw very little through there.
Interesting to see a buffer hst on the end of the mk3 set being pulled by a 91. Was that being used as a DVT?
Yes, BR had the class 91s but no MkIV sets yet. So the HST power car was used as a DVT and provided the electrical power for the MkIII coaches. Although they found just leaving the engines idling was doing them no good and they were changed so they could power us as well as the clas 91!
They were fun actually, the HST +91 combos. I enjoyed seeing them if only for the oddity value.
Interesting meeting of Class 47s at 5:17. That Mk 1 charter sets looks quite nice; certainly nicer than after they put bars over the droplights.
Why did they name a loco Halitosis?
The bars on the windows was to stop the loco bashers hanging out of the windows......
Try Guns n Roses
Missed the 110s
One such charter took us to Birmingham in 1992
It isn't "Halitosis" - it's "Haliotidae", which is a type of shell. All locos allocated to Immingham for the Shell Petroleum flow from Stanlow to Immingham were named after types of shell.
Why are you called after a street in Pattaya?
Why not? I have travelled along it many times and rather like the place......
